To not tell her parents?

foreverornever · Yesterday 18:45

Dd(15) had some friends stay over last night, they all helped one of the friends (also 15 but turning 16 in a month) sneak her boyfriend in and they ended up sleeping together.

Dd is obviously in trouble for lying, younger dc saw teen boy in our house which scared them. Friend has apologised, has promised that they used protection and pleaded with me not to tell her parents.

I don’t know her parents well and she is basically 16 so I do feel like it’s something that she should get to tell them only if she wants to and not my place to do so but then obviously I was supposed to be responsible for her last night.

If it was my daughter I would probably want to know but I wouldn’t expect to be told in this situation by other parents.

WIBU to not tell them?

You absolutely should this is a gross breach of trust.

IHaveTraumaFromAlfredHitchcocksTheBirds · Yesterday 18:48

How old is the boyfriend?

I would absolutely tell them.

beeautifullif3 · Yesterday 18:49

Erm she is not 16 , and she had sex probably unprotected in your house , under your watch !!! Of course you tell her parents ! Why the fuck wouldn't you

CurlewKate · Yesterday 18:50

You have to tell her parents. How old is they boyfriend?

CornishTiger · Yesterday 18:51

Totally need to tell them.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · Yesterday 18:51

You going to have to say something. Could you be seen as encouraging or turning a blind eye to under age sex if you keep your mouth shut. Yes we know it goes on always has done always will do but as you say it if was your Daughter you’d want to know

ColdAsAWitches · Yesterday 18:52

Another that says tell them. She could easily be lying to you about using protection.

Blimms · Yesterday 18:54

How the hell did you let that happen?

Saying that she is 16 in a month is just you trying ignore the fact that children were having sex in your house.

Savvysix1984 · Yesterday 18:54

I would tell the parent that they snuck a boy in and think their daughter spent the night with him and suggest they speak to their dc about the specifics. I prob wouldn’t say they had sex as I’d leave the daughter tell them.

PandyMoanyMum · Yesterday 18:54

yes, you need to tell them. she might need support.

olivecons · Yesterday 18:55

Of course you have to say something, they were under your supervision when this happened I can’t even begin to imagine how that got passed you, but you need to explain and apologise to the other parent.

Hankunamatata · Yesterday 18:56

You tell them she snuck a boy into your house without your knowlege but yoir dd and friends were in on it. You didnt know and only realised when younger dc saw the boy.

You don't have to elaborate. You do have to tell them

But ewww where did they have sex? In same room as other teens?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · Yesterday 18:58

Even if she was 16 it’s still down right disrespectful in someone else’s home

I agree with this

BeaLola · Yesterday 18:58

16 next month isn’t 16 now.

yes you should tell them

purplecorkheart · Yesterday 18:58

Of course you have to tell them. You are taking her word that they used protection/used it correctly. It happened in your house. I do wonder how this could happen though? Please tell me there was at least one responsible adult there and not a dis interested older teen? Be prepared for the parents to be furious.

She isnt 'basically 16' - she is 15!
How did this happen on your watch?
I have a 15 year old and there would be no way that a guy would be in my house with any the children.

edwinbear · Yesterday 19:00

Not the same situation, but similar, my 14y old DD went to a house party where some older siblings sneaked alcohol in, despite mum making it quite clear it was a no alcohol party. DD got a bit tipsy, not drunk, but tipsy.

I don’t know friends mum very well, but she called me from DD’s phone (I could hear DD pleading in the background not to tell her mum), explained what had happened and asked me to come and collect her. I now know DD is very safe at their house and she takes full responsibility for children under her care. I would have been far less impressed if friends mum had tried to cover it up.

Tillow4ever · Yesterday 19:00

Another saying you need to tell them. It doesn’t matter if she’s 1 day off 16 or 364 days off - she’s under age and under your supervision.

I would tell her that you intend to tell her parents but give her an hour to speak to them herself if she would rather they heard it from her.

dont be surprised if no friends are allowed to stay over again!

Kitkate21 · Yesterday 19:01

It couldn't be more obvious from OP's that she didn't 'let' them🙄

but yes, OP, you should tell their parents. Imagine how annoyed they'll be if they find out at a later stage.

Fieldday26 · Yesterday 19:05

All those saying how did you let this happen, they are 15/16 not 5/6, you don’t have eyes on teenagers all of the time. If they want to have sex they will find a way.

@foreverornever how did you find out they had had sex?

Wherethedogsits · Yesterday 19:08

The other parents may already have kept similar from you….

Yours will be the house that it’s ok to take boys back to.

Bakeittillyoumakeit · Yesterday 19:14

Tell them her boyfriend was snuck in, don't tell them that they had sex.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · Yesterday 19:20

Yabu.

Its grossly irresponsible to do anything other than tell her parents.

If she's are old enough to shag about she's old enough to face the music, look your parents in the eyes and have a conversation.
