To find it unfair that my colleagues get to have 3/4 weeks off and I don’t?

Last year my colleague was granted 4 weeks off as he got married and went on his honeymoon. Another of my colleagues has just been granted 3 weeks off next year for her wedding and honeymoon. Yet, when I have asked for 2 and a half weeks off I have been declined. They are saying it’s because it’s special circumstances, but I am older than my colleagues and won’t really have any special circumstances other than holidays with my family. AIBU to think it’s unfair that other people in my team get to enjoy 3 or 4 weeks off while I can’t ever have more than 2 weeks?!

I would defo appeal..I have only ever worked for Two companies that were petty about holidays. one was wouldn't let me have Xmas off even though I had it approved months in advance before another person put in her request for same time off - mine was over ridden because she has children 🙄. was so mad left just before Xmas anyway so.she ended up having to work Xmas I was so mad. the second was when my boss at the time wouldn't give me one day off cause a few of the other team was off - people who didn't cover my work by the way- I had pointed out to her that she had previously approved others members of the team off on previous days so her logic didn't make sense. same b also approved her friend 3 weeks off same time she was off and i was left on my own. thankfully I have a nice boss who has never said no to any of my holidays. there is only 4 of us in our team including him and there has been days where we have been all off. there has been no refusels we just meet days before to make sure everything is covered etc and work has our numbers if emergency - never happened so far. we have a shutdown for 2 weeks every year and it's encouraged that you take them weeks off as holidays though not forced. there are loads who add on a week or two before or after them weeks also never said no to. as long as you give plenty of notice I think no one should be told no. Good managers should be able to cover the work etc. lord you could be in an car crash this eve and be out for three weeks then they would have no choice but to get on with it

Why is it any of their business what your time off is for? That shouldn’t even be asked.
