For neighbour to use a ladder to get my attention?

Day off today so decided to sleep in. At approx 8.50am I heard tapping on my window, half dazed I've opened the curtains and my neighbour was outside saying they couldn't get through to my phone (I checked after and had 3 missed calls) and would I give them a lift to the airport as taxi failed to show.
I don't know them (man and wife in their 60's) that well but I rushed out of house in nightgown and took them without thinking. Part of me thinks I just did a good deed and being a neighbour, other part thinks the ladder overstepped the mark.

I’m intrigued by the other neighbour who saw the ladder, said ‘I’ll have that now’ and took it. Maybe he has a ladder collection to add to.

Oh do stop asking sensible questions.

My neighbours would do that. They are always excited about new ladders and scaffolding and mix and match and swap them like rare Pokémons.

I don't think they'd climb a ladder to my bedroom window, but they'd probably use it (or a nice handy scaffolding pole) to tap on the window in those circumstances.

Im always amazed at PP on mumsnet who casually hand out numbers to randoms who happen to live nearby. I was once asked for my number by my NDN and told her that my number was for family and close friends and not "any tom, dick or harry" (spoken in a disparaging tone).

There is something to be said for being a non driver because then randoms cannot know whether or not i am at home. I would probably have gone nuclear.

There was a small fire in our house once while we were away, we only found out as our kind neighbours called and alerted us.

Not everyone wants your contact details for nefarious reasons- it’s actually very helpful to be able to contact neighbours, and vice versa.

No talk of money but mention of 'have to see what's at duty free' but I didn't ask for anything, I was panicking too

I was going to say I don't even own one but I have had a long long day and still wearing the long flowy dress I put on this morning even though I did look sort of like I had just escaped a commune but I guess it could be seen as a nightie or whatever they are called if you are being pedantic. Normally I sleep naked so he may have fallen off his ladder in disgust when I pulled the curtain first thing which would have saved any driving anywhere I guess.

With neighbours like OP's I'd sleep fully dressed, trainers on, bed made up, face to ceiling, body on top of sheets

I'm sorry but that attire doesn't exactly say "I'm ready for small talk with strangers on our way to airport". One has to be SET, PREPARED &MOTIVATED. Though I suppose that could be conveyed with attitude rather than clothes 😁

I’m sure this is true @ShakyBake but I’m just agog that there are people in the world that think this is reasonable behaviour.
