AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

1000 replies

MaturingCheeseball · 30/07/2026 17:34

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Yanbu. Repeated failure by European governments. Undocumented young men allowed in, whilst the rest of us are expected to use passports and pay taxes.

Well the Spanish government has not failed in this instance.

Horrific, those poor people.

Yes. This is exactly what I expected would happen. Thank you for also pointing out this fact amongst all the posters worrying that the people who got into Ceuta will be using the NHS in England and collecting huge baskets of plentiful food from British food banks tomorrow afternoon as they teleport from North Africa to the UK where according to some everyone dreams of living....

Hmm.

Some posters, including the OP, if I read it correctly, seem to think that thousands of young men swam from Morocco to the Spanish mainland, which would be roughly 9 miles at the closest point.

And from there it's clearly, just going to be a hop and a skip for these amazing swimmers to find their way to our shores.

Being as they're such good swimmers though, they'll probably just find it a short stroll to the UK. Or as you say, they'll teleport.

Who knows? Anything's possible.

So how do you think they got there?

So how do you think they got there?

To the Spanish mainland?

They didn't.

RoundedRobin · 31/07/2026 20:10

Aidezmo · 30/07/2026 19:57

Women in Morocco are less likely to be able to swim than men - so that helps explain it.

And why is that?

LuckyHazelFox · 31/07/2026 20:13

TopPocketFind · 31/07/2026 20:08

Thank you. I missed the mainland part. My bad.

IcedCoffee26 · 31/07/2026 20:14

LuckyHazelFox · 31/07/2026 20:07

So how do you think they got there?

Please look at a map and when you find Ceuta you will find the answer to your question. 🙂

pigsDOfly · 31/07/2026 20:15

LuckyHazelFox · 31/07/2026 20:07

So how do you think they got there?

Well they didn't swim to the Spanish mainland for a start. So they didn't get there.

They swam the much shorter distance to Ceuta and several of them drowned.

Some countries trying to use their excess population as both a weapon and a supposed honeypot of potential growth in "maxxed out" developed countries?

LuckyHazelFox · 30/07/2026 20:03

Per capita is such a nuisance to them.

Well it is slightly more complicated than many here are implying as you are comparing the crime rate of a demographic made up mostly of young men against the general male population.

If you make a comparison of men of the same age and background, the statistical differences largely disappear - in other words it appears they are explained by age and socioeconomic factors rather than nationality.

SadiraOfTyr · 31/07/2026 20:20

It seems that the vast majority had no intention of staying and have already returned voluntarily. More so there is evidence that the whole incident was orchestrated by the Moroccan authorities.

The ultimate aim of course is to force Spain into giving up Ceuta and Melilla.

Unfortunately, many muslims' lives are dispensible when it comes to money, power and corruption. Awful.

This was done by the Moroccan authorities though. Theyre Muslim too.

‘tiny liberal brains’??
Liberal has a specific meaning in the U.K., Not sure if you aren’t from the U.K. or are parroting American rhetoric and really meaning the left more generally, but either way the data suggests those with higher education levels skew towards voting left.
That’s a really nasty way of speaking about people you disagree with though. And given you mean specific MNers, it’s probably personal attack.

Yes. Tiny liberal brains. The sort of tiny brains which shut out any opinion that doesn’t agree with theirs. The inability to debate, consider and perhaps find a common ground in an issue without resorting to labelling the ‘opposition’ racist, xenophobic or bigoted.

I am fully aware that those with ‘higher education levels’ tend to lean left, they also do not tend to be working class and originate from or live in areas where the issues surrounding mass immigration, lack of cultural cohesion and all that brings is more apparent.

Also, ‘higher education levels’ is exactly that, it means they have spent more time focusing on academic subjects with an exam at the end, it does not and never has meant an increase in common sense or the ability to see things from another perspective. Evidently.

This is nonsense. Of course people who lean left can come from working class areas as well as being more highly educated. Why would you think they don’t? I do, for example. Industrial midlands as a child. Multicultural part of SE Wales now. It’s lack of exposure to this that is more likely to make people fearful of other races. I’d agree education doesn’t always equal common sense, but it does mean you have had to look at lots of different perspectives.
I'd say it was you who ‘shut out any opinion that doesn’t agree with theirs.’
And again, aiming this at posters on here could be seen as personal attack.

I can't seem to find where I originally read it, it was a little while ago. A quick Google has found this though - https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/dec/14/truth-about-crimes-committed-by-foreign-nationals-uk - which highlights the difficulties in interpreting the limited data available.

If I come across anything else I'll post it.

Are asylum seekers really more likely to commit violent crime in the UK?

As claims spread suggesting men from certain backgrounds have a propensity to commit certain crimes, here’s why the statistics fail to provide the full picture

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/dec/14/truth-about-crimes-committed-by-foreign-nationals-uk

Cobrakainerd · 31/07/2026 20:30

If they had arrived in uniform, it would have been an ' military invasion' , as they didn't, its a 'large number of young men'.

Believe me, lots and lots of people with higher educational levels simply have to go along with the accepted narrative at their universities, hospitals, institutions, because they are scared to be jobless. They are not crazy or suicidal to admire mass migration, be it legal or not - they just have to play that game. Generational doctors are now worried about their children - there are no jobs for medical graduates to specialise into, because it is cheaper to import a ready-made Indian consultant than to train domestic students. They just have to pretend and smile. Only very few people can afford to speak out - like Dr Meirion Thomas - he was sacked after an article in the Daily Mail in which he wrote that EU patients (that case was from Spain) abuse the NHS.

If I come across anything else I'll post it.

I've got stats on sexual offenses from places like Germany- some nationalities offend at such a high rate that I'd be very surprised if it just an age thing, like Afghans offended at a rate 16 times higher than German men.
Also, if they weren't in the country at all, none of those particular offenses would have happened.

It's just such an awful idea having groups of bored young men with no social or cultural ties to a community, loitering around. And yes it's worse if they're from a culture with misogynistic attitudes towards women, or have unsavoury views of Western women.
