Just that really. I far prefer the French habit of having a wash after having a no 2, much more civilised. The British way is actually unhygienic and gross.

People encouraging wet toilet roll/wipes. Terrible for the environment! I don’t understand why toilet roll doesnt do the job well enough until you shower unless you have a gut issue.

The only family I knew who had one had family I. Italy, so when they stayed there they used them and persuaded their DM to fit one in their bathroom when they returned home.

I don't think tubes of travel wash are a thing of the past. Never used a bidet to cheat clothes, I bet people was their feet in them though

I'm not going through the posts to find everyone who's quoted me, but I did add a second post saying bum guns are the issue in terms of plumbing regulations. I'd like to get one. That's how I know.

Just wipe then wet tissue and wipe until it's clean, same when you have a wee. No one wants smelly bits.

We have a ‘Japanese’ toilet (after seeing them in Japan) it’s called a ‘washlet ‘ or bidet toilet. We had it installed when we were redoing the whole bathroom so while it is more expensive than a normal toilet and needs to be professionally installed, it wasn’t too bad as part of the whole refit.
It is honestly great and I wouldn’t be without one now. It also has what is coyly called a ‘lady shower’ function which is really good too.
It even comes with a remote control unit which is fixed to the wall when not in use…

Bring back the bidet. Wished I insisted on one when building our house a few years ago. I might treat myself when I retire. Easier than standing on tip toe and washing my bum in the sink😂

Not with you on this one I'm afraid. Could you imagine if these were in public spaces? My stomach heaves at the thought. Public toilets can already be disgusting. Adding these would make that worse!

In your own home, fine, install one. I know extra cleaning is needed sometimes. I wouldn't choose a bidet to do it though.
Have a good wash (preferably strip the bottom half and shower or granny wash at the sink and clean it afterwards).

The last time I saw an old school bidet was twenty five years ago. It came with the house and it was aubergine coloured, like the rest of the very 70's bathroom suite.
I used it for washing my feet and shaving my legs as it was a comfortable height!

Or you could get one of those toilets you get in posh hotels- the ones that wash, blow dry and sing at you? Burnt my ass with the hot water function while messing around with the one in my room, while tipsy.

What are you doing with your actual bumhole that you require it to be squeaky clean at all times?

I wash my hands with soap and water because I'm using them to prep food, and will be touching anything and everything so don't want to transfer poo particles. My bumhole gets used for poos and that's it? Sure I'd prefer a bidet attachment, but I don't think it's unhygienic when my bum is at all times (aside from right before and after it's washed) encased in at least one layer of fabric, between my cheeks?

Surely if it were really unhygienic the general public would literally stink like shit?!

I have a portable bidet that fits on the loo seat. It has a lip for tipping the used water into the loo. Amazon's best!

If you've got a hairy arse (pretty much all men), then standard toilet paper is fighting a losing battle.
