What popular places are overrated?

Following on from another thread, what places do you consider overrated that are popular?

Hotel Chocolat = over priced, at best average tasting, would much rather Cadbury's at a fraction of the price.

Amorino = our local one gets packed, as in queue's outside the shop packed. Over priced, very average ice cream, that they seem to be able to charge a premium for because you can mix flavors and it's a cue little flower shape.

Dominoes, Pappa Johns, Pizza Hut = unless there is a deal on very expensive for what tastes very processed pizza.

Centre Parks, especially in the UK, but then it’s not my idea of a holiday!
Hellmans mayo, it looks vile (why so white?!) and tastes of nothing.
Cadbury’s chocolate.
Most UK beaches.

"London" and "basically every restaurant" is a hilarious answer.

Epcot

Frozen, Ratatouille, Test Track, Soarin, another one who needs to wash their mouth out with soap and water!

Betty's Tea Rooms
London
Basically every restaurant and take away these days
Marks and Spencer

Every restaurant and takeaway??

Thats…. Strong 😅

Disneyland Paris

Yep! Florida is a whole different experience. The French aren’t cheery enough to do Disney very well and the weather isn’t always sunny.

MinnieMountain · Today 13:55

Going inside the colosseum in Rome. It's so stupidly busy, you can't appreciate it.

The U.K.?

It’s seen as a dream destination for so many immigrants but I feel sorry for them when they must realise how cold, expensive and unwelcoming it is.

Probably because they don’t like London, they never get to experience great restaurants and associated takeaways!

They can always go home.

Eiffel Tower. What a tourist hell hole.

Ophy83 · Today 13:57

Bettys is lovely- try going for breakfast and get the Swiss rosti.

For me it's a crowded hot beach in the summer, I can't bear it. Would much prefer to be near a shady river or in the garden.

Soarin is borin, the others aren't worth the wait times either. My cheese dreams include being stuck in the monstrosity that is that land/sea building that feels like a 70s airport somehow. However that centrifuge thing that flings you about & you pretend you're going into space, is ok.

Oh I love Soarin!

Bourton on the Water. Chill out everyone, it’s just a wide stream with a lot of expensive tourist shops either side. Ridiculously busy when it’s hot, as if no one has ever experienced standing ankle deep in water.

MaturingCheeseball · Today 13:59

The thing is a lot of these places would be nice if there weren’t so many other people there. Mass tourism is a giant wrecking ball.

Ineedanewsofa · Today 13:59

Agree with many of these, also:
Daylesford
Soho Farmhouse (most Cotswold “influencer” destinations)
Lucky Cat

Completely agree about Betty’s (apart from the fat/gooey rascals) and Bicester village!

TeaPot496 · Today 14:02

I agree with you about Hotel Chocolat

Actually, whispers I don't like any chocolate CAKE at all, overrated, but can eat my weight in Galaxy, otherwise.

StandingDeskDisco · Today 14:02

Stonehenge.
There are much, much better stone circles out there, that you can actually walk into and touch.

LookInsideMySpottyBag · Today 14:03

Stonehenge- beautiful yes,but you can’t get anywhere near anymore so not worth stopping at.

bournemouth beach- rundown town centre, full of homeless and druggies. if there is a hint of sun that main stretch of beach is jammed wall to wall with bodies.

LookInsideMySpottyBag · Today 14:03

@StandingDeskDisco great minds think alike! Cross posted.

Bicster I sort of agree.

On one hand it like I want a black Moncler, not a bright orange Moncler in XXL.

All saints is great, my husband wears their round necks tees daily - and they are £18 there rather than 3 for 90 online.

It's defo not worth more than once every two year visit though.

I would suggest El Jem in Tunisia as a better Roman amphitheatre, but I am not sure whether it is safe and comfortable for tourists these days.
