Who's this new celebrity groper who's been ' hauled in' for questioning. I'm beginning to think they've got a supply of them at the BBC that they keep in a cupboard and they let one out evwry now and then when there's a bit if a slow news day.

There is a household name who was a BBC presenter for years whose catchphrase on the BBC show was 'and on that bombshell'.
I actually would be surprised if it was him, temper yes, this kind of thing I'd not heard before and know a number of people who work in the industry so it could be metro click bait I guess

And that show was filmed in Surrey not Stratford.
(EtA agreeing with you seems unlikely).

I've got a horrible feeling it's sage & onion stuffing related. #cryptic

That's way too cryptic for me... any helpful hints?

The only person in history who got an injunction to prevent papers publishing that he was having sex with his wife, because he was separated and in a new relationship but then started to have sex with his wife again whilst still being in the relationship. Can you have an affair with your spouse?

Wow who is that?

VivaDixie · Yesterday 23:39

You have all failed at the first hurdle

Look at the sidebar of shame on the metro article - the clues check out

i hope not though - i would be very disappointed if my suspicions are confirmed

Jeremy Clarkson?

BatFinkk · Yesterday 23:43

I can’t get to the sidebar on the Metro so give us a clue

I mean, JC did used to say ‘and on that bombshell’ … so are the metro throwing us a hint there?

I thought that too.

Oh not the Pax! He sadly has Parkinson’s disease now doesn’t he?

ChatGPT does though…

Huw (we know about)
Bruce Forsyth
Reggie Yates
Jeremy Paxman
David Frost
Alan Titchmarsh
Bill Turnbull

From what’s been reported, the presenter is said to be:

  • A former BBC presenter, not a current one.
  • A household name who appeared on BBC programmes for decades.
  • The allegation relates to a TV show set in Stratford, East London.
  • The alleged incident occurred around 2005–2006.
  • The complainant either worked on the programme or appeared as a contestant/participant.
  • He was interviewed under caution but has not been arrested or charged, and denies the allegation.

I find the bit about contestant / participant interesting. Mirrors and Metros loooooove the clickbait titles and then it turns out it was a random extra.

Three of the names suggested are also dead. And as the man in question went to the police station recently that would've been a hell of an undertaking for Bruce, Bill or David to pull off 😂

I can't because I really don't want to because i can't bear to think it is him - but someone has mentioned the name upthread.

I would be very surprised if it was him. My dad worked on newsnight with him and he was always a lovely guy and professional, was to me too. You can usually tell who the slimy arseholes are and didn’t get these vibes from him at all. Obviously that’s never an exoneration but would be very surprised indeed.

Think of the brand name......
Might be a challenge.. x

The massive chat show at the time would have been filmed in Stratford and had guests. It was also produced by the production company not the BBC. Though the host had a contract with the Beeb.

There was that radio controversy which has never sat right since.

And it doesnt strike me as his style. Also, wasnt there a mention of contestants? I cant think of a househols name from 20 years ago who fronted a show with contestants. He certainly didnt.

Noel Edmonds?
I thought of Chris Tarrant but he didn't do much with the BBC.

But how could he be hauled in. He lives on the other side of the world.
