Who's this new celebrity groper who's been ' hauled in' for questioning. I'm beginning to think they've got a supply of them at the BBC that they keep in a cupboard and they let one out evwry now and then when there's a bit if a slow news day.

Glad if it helps. I was very fortunate in that the woman who did put her head above the parapet was well known and well loved, so I was able to sort of cling to her coat tails on this and that helped massively. I think without having that sort of assurance that you're going to be believed, where do you even turn with something like this? I spoke with the man's employers but they said I'd be locked out of the investigation and wouldn't even be told the outcome, so I backed off. I was terrified he would somehow retaliate. The power imbalance is tremendous when you don't have a high profile or much professional standing yourself. It's only by chance and extreme kindness of the other woman/women involved that I was able to offload that burden to an extent. Many women never get that chance.

Hopefully it's getting better.

I'm 67 and remember SS and lads mags well.

Yes, so do I!
I was directing a question at another poster. They really did dominate the 90s. Grim.

"ungentlemanly" ?????

Fine- type up a much longer description, that fully communicates your virtuous indignation.

It won’t change anyone’s behaviour though.

It is good to make a start. Sullivan, and any of his employees implicated, need to be called out. Also today, first conviction for a new law banning harassment motivated by a person's sex.

Pulling a woman’s hair and kissing her against her will must have been already illegal.

Yes he is full of himself and claims he: "created the image of Mary Millington - I was like the Simon Cowell of the sex industry".

This was a glamour model and Sullivan's girlfriend who took her own life at 33 years old.

Mary Millington's life was so harrowingly sad. The popular story that was painted was that she was basically a nymphomaniac who just couldn't get enough sex, yet she only actually got into 'glamour' modelling in the first place because she was too short to be able to be a regular clothes model.

Even after she took her life at that horribly young age, DS was still desperately cashing in on her name and memory wherever he could. I wonder if that man would even recognise what a moral was if he ever chanced upon encountering one.

When I saw him I laughed. He's physically repulsive. Nobody in their right mind would go near him with a barge pole.

With regard to Sullivan, I’m interested to see what (if any) involvement he had with his fiancée Ampika Pickston (Real Housewives of Cheshire) children’s home she opened which was subsequently shut down by Ofsted. There’s some interesting info about that on line… I’m sure there were concerns about her taking girls to her home.

Thanks for the info but it doesn't bear thinking about - I didn't know any of that. What is beyond belief is this on the BBC:

The Football Association opened a safeguarding investigation in 2023 after receiving allegations about the conduct of Sullivan, the co-owner and then the co-chair, of West Ham United.
In response, a safeguarding group made up of the club, the FA and the local authority decided to prevent Sullivan from having access to his own club's youth and women's teams

He couldn't even attend their matches.

I work in this field so have been aware of this for a while and find it hugely concerning! So many guidelines were clearly broken, especially giving gifts and taking girls to her home - grooming alarm bells

Ampika Pickston has long curled brown hair and is wearing a fur jacket.

Real Housewives of Cheshire TV star's children's home permanently closed

Various concerns were raised about the care at Real Housewives of Cheshire Ampika Pickston's home.

Don't remember the Sunday Sport and Lads' mags?

A bit but I didn’t read them or pay much attention to them.

Like, Karren Brady, Tony Livesey grew his career in David Sullivan's empire, In Livesey's book he recollects how they had a countdown to 16, in his newspaper, where they could then legally display girls topless.

That’s vile.

Yes, absolutely. That was the minimum legal age - not raised to 18 until 2004. So some progress then ....

I think I did know about this back then (the age limit) but blokes liked the lads mags, very mainstream. More pervier men liked Sunday Sport. It was all normalised back then. Danni Minogue in lads mags, my “respectable” middle class rich boyfriend then liked her so got the mags for that.

VivaDixie · 10/06/2026 14:03

I'm 53 and was aware of the Sport and Lads mags but didnt pay any attention to them and had no idea who the owner was - why would i?

I'm shocked about the Tony Livesey allegations and that DS was engaged to AP. God it is all so interwoven Sad

Thats why it's good that people discuss it. Of course nobody wants to falsely name someone or anything like that, but it is good that people can discuss this sort of thing more easily now. It was the inability for people to connect up and discuss this stuff years ago that allowed these creeps to get away with it for so long. It's good it's out in the open.

Oh I agree with you. Great it’s out in the open and no shame about this now. Can’t believe we still have topless models in Sunday Sport but at least the other tabloids have stopped using/printing/publishing them.

I didn't know until I just read your post - I see you can only buy it 3 times a week and only from independent newsagents - what a dinosaur.

The staff member thought it was inappropriate a home for vulnerable girls should have its own Instagram account.

I wonder what that looked like. There's a section of Instagram which consists of girls sitting on beds 'modelling' lingerie in provocative poses - I've wondered what that's really about. Then you hear these stories of these 'influencers' jetting off to Dubai to be crapped on in exchange for large amounts of cash...

Should be banned too. At least the lads mags are gone.
