Just seen a woman wearing a red boob tube with a grubby white strapped bra. If she can’t find a strapless bra that fits, why buy and wear boop tubes or any other clothing that shows off bra straps. Not a good look.

Why do women think it’s ok to wear clothes like this

Well aren't you a peach.

I always assume that people like this must have such miserable and boring lives.

It literally wouldn’t even cross my mind to think on it for more than a few seconds.
I definitely wouldn’t think about it so much that I take the trouble to make a thread about it.

ginasevern · 22/05/2026 18:41

I didn't say it was correct did I, but it's still my opinion. And I'll tell you what, my opinion also stretches to sliders and socks, bras and boob tubes and regularly wearing your pyjamas to the shops!

You said it was true. So therefore correct...

ThreadGuardDog · 22/05/2026 20:13

If this is all you have to worry about I’m quite envious of you.

Because when they do, somehow, miraculously, the world keeps on turning.

ToadRage · 22/05/2026 20:24

I wouldn't do it myself but couldn't care less of other people do it. It's a bra strap, get over it.

StretchingShantyJugg · 22/05/2026 20:25

Summer has just come out of nowhere - perhaps she doesn't have anything else right now?

Who cares anyway?

Sobriety78 · 22/05/2026 20:30

I very often wear off the shoulder tops with my straps showing. Strapless bras aren't as comfortable and if anyone doesnt like it - they dont need to look.

BillieWiper · 22/05/2026 20:33

I don't think a boob tube with a strapped bra is a good look. But it's not because the bra itself is offensive. If it was a vest top and you saw the straps it would be fine. And tbh boob tubes aren't great regardless even on a supermodel!

Most of us, as we grow up, realise that the content of our character matters far more than what we look like.

I'd rather have an "ugly" bra strap showing than have such ugly thoughts about other women.

Exactly. There are some really unpleasant, and frankly vile comments on here (from some posters.) Says more about them than the women they are berating to be honest

FlyingApple · 22/05/2026 20:41

Oh fuck off and leave strangers alone.

DreamyScroller · 22/05/2026 20:42

I agree OP, but you are brave to say that on MN. According to some on here a woman should feel at liberty to wear whatever she wants, wherever and whenever she wants, and it's always completely appropriate. And if you say anything that contradicts that... Like, maybe girls wearing school uniform should not be flashing knickers, or that we don't want to see your grubby bra under your nasty boob tube... Then you're obviously a misogynist. Probably racist too.

Underwear should be worn under clothes not showed off

unclench dear. Bra straps under a top are far less offensive than men with no shirt on or those scrunch bum leggings.

Mere1 · 22/05/2026 21:07

Iheartmysmart · 22/05/2026 17:21

Oh no! Woman wears a bra, what is the world coming to. When men can walk around without a top on at all, why are women ridiculed for showing a bra strap.

This. Men walking around with no top on are commonplace on a warm day, even in city centres.

Are you a man or a woman, and are you always so judgemental,

Do you really think a man would be trying to give fashion advice?

SchoolsNotOutYet · 22/05/2026 17:20

Its amazing the amount of grubby or worn bits of underwear that's showing these days. But it's the 21st century so that's ok - there's a COL crisis dontcherknow 🙄

exactly.

Funny that you really see it abroad. Go to France, Italy, Spain - people might wear cheaper cloths, but always tidy, ironed, polished shoes, no grabby underwear on display.

Battenbergcoconutice · 22/05/2026 21:15

Oh my lord. We judge others with the lense by which we judge ourselves. Calm down. I'd hate to walk past you when I've paired a black top with sexy pink bra to deliberately show off my bra straps...

XenoBitch · 22/05/2026 21:18

YABVVU.
Does it actually harm you in any way?
I don't care what other people are wearing. I just want to get on with my day. If she was happy and comfortable with what she was wearing, then who cares.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 22/05/2026 21:42

I think people should wear what they want, as long as we don’t see their privates.

Obviously from a satirical pov, a bra that hadn’t gone grey in the wash or whatever would be better. But surely we’ve all seen bits of greyed or even actually mucky clothing before?

I personally really don’t like seeing men’s underarm hair on display. It just gives me the ick in public, especially when sweaty (obviously different in private). But I accept that’s a me thing not a rule everyone should abide by.

I was at Nando’s recently in the queue, there was a young woman wearing thin cotton pale blue skin tight hot pants and a crop top. Could literally see every detail of her vulva. She might as well have not bothered with the shorts and just painted herself pale blue.
I mean her choice and all that, my only thought was that she was incredibly brave wearing skintight pale blue with no knickers… a slight bit of bodily fluid would stand out a mile! My conclusion was she must have been wearing a tampon to prevent and fluids escaping! Yes I seriously overthought this while in the queue 😂

Seems to be a thing! Or people wearing those tight shorts in the same colour as whatever their skin tone is, so you think they’re naked from afar!

You did make me laugh re painting herself blue though.

You’re quite unpleasant. But I love that you have all these rules that you believe everyone should live by 😂 You know that no-one cares about your rules, right? There’s only one rule in life: as long as you aren’t harming anyone, do whatever makes you happy. The end.

Do you mean sartorial rather than satirical?

Packetofcrispsplease · 22/05/2026 22:36

I have one or 2 dresses where my bra straps can peek out but I always wear a really nice ( clean ) bra that’s a fun colour or another bra that’s a skin tone but the straps are really very pretty .
I’d not wear a boob tube and a grubby old bra with it .
