I have a triple wardrobe in my bedroom
& 2 x 5 drawer chest in my bedroom

a large double wardrobe and 5 chest of drawers in my spare room
all are full with clothes of various types and shoes

I have around 25 pairs of shoes - probably more
one pair of louboutins which I bought on a whim and I’ve only worn them twice

I must have at least 50 plus different tops ,
t shirts jumpers vest tops

at least 10 pairs of trainers , mainly Nike asic and new balance and a few that. I’ve never worn or worn maybe once or twice

at least 10 pairs of jeans ( different colours / styles )
4 pairs of Spanx leggings
4 pairs of Spanx jeans
4 pairs of knee high winter type boots
2 pairs of ankle boots

I have a least 15 coats inc 2 I’ve never worn 😂 just liked them when I bought them

underwear - lets just say I have a lot

then in the box room I have all my holiday clothes so bikinis , swimsuits summer dresses gym gear excess stuff that I don’t wear much unless I’m going away on holiday

Im not even gonna think about my handbags but I have 4 mulberry bags & two purses and then a few more every day bags

apart from my handbags most of my stuff is under 3 years old

what can I say I like to buy clothes 😂

My husband has a section of the box room for his clothes and I’m weeding him out of there slowly so I can take it over 😂😂

every year I do a big clear out and offer it first to my sisters and nieces and if they don’t want all of it then I take it to the charity shops
but generally they take a fair amount as some still have the tags on 😂

There was a thread on here where it was said that only ‘admin staff’ wear cardigans. And it wasn’t meant as a compliment!

Yeah that was me and people lost their shit Grin

but I said what I said: in my office sophisticated senior women do not wear cardigans. Too casual, too sloppy, too relaxed. So in my org (it may be different in yours Wink ) the only women that wear them are non client facing, generally admins 🤷‍♀️

SunshineCatcher · 09/05/2026 22:49

I have a walk in wardrobe, 2 chest of drawers, and also use 2 wardrobes in spare rooms. I have too many clothes to count. I absolutely love shopping! Thankfully my husband is supportive of this.

PrettyLittleRose · 09/05/2026 22:49

Posts here proving my point over and over. 😆

'Oh, I have WAAAAAAAY more than that.' 😂

!

That's why I can't find anything in the shops, it's all in OPs wardrobe.

Was thinking this myself! I have been looking for tops for ages and struggling to find anything at all that I like - need to look no further than ops wardrobe!

op I would be stressed at that amount of clothes, decision fatigue is a real thing. I have quite a few dresses because I wear them most. Only 3 pairs of jeans but technically 1 really as the other 2 don’t fit so need to go. Could do with some replacements but since losing weight I’ve had to replace basically my entire wardrobe - it’s been a good exercise in streamlining and only buying what I know I’ll wear.

Sundaynightterrors · 09/05/2026 22:50

Blimey how do you store all that!!

Onelifeonly · 09/05/2026 22:54

I have about a third to half that amount, but did once count my tops (in response to another MN post) and was horrified to find I had more than 50.

My 20 year old probably has as much if not more than you op! All cheap stuff mostly, from Shein or charity shops, lots of similar items. She's a shopaholic. But she does look very good in everything!

I’m a banker, no-one wears cardigans at work! I’ve seen plenty of none admin staff wear them in normal civilian life though!

Peachesandfizz · 09/05/2026 22:54

I probably have a similar amount but I need a serious clear out. I lost weight and found WhatNot which has led to me having far more than I need.

MsAmerica · 09/05/2026 22:54

What would anyone do with 11 pairs of jeans? I have maybe 4 I'm currently wearing, and 2 or 3 that I bought because they were so cheap on sale, which are folded away until my current ones wear out.

OrangeSeaGlass · 09/05/2026 22:55

I have a lot more dresses, jeans, shoes/boots/trainers, gym wear and swim wear than you. No idea what average is though.

Elsvieta · 09/05/2026 22:55

SouthernNights59 · 09/05/2026 22:11

I have two pair of shoes that aren't trainers/sandals/boots - I never wear them.

I rarely do. But once in a while you need something a bit fancier for a wedding or a funeral, right? And OP doesn't sound like the type to not have the right shoes for EVERY occasion.

DJKATIE · 09/05/2026 23:00

This has really made me think as I have way way more than that I do tend to keep things for years and years and buy a lot more than ever sell on vinted. Think I need to have a good talk with myself

Thatsillymama · 09/05/2026 23:01

Oh crap I have way more than that in most of the categories. I've never actually counted but i have a a lot more dresses, tops, cardigans and coats than that. I don't have as many shoes, skirts and shorts though.

Yes same. I'm a lawyer, I don't think other lawyers at my work wear them. Either at work or (if I'm anything to go by) outside of work. I have one navy lace cardigan actually but I always wear it completely buttoned up so more like a jumper

PsilocybinSalsa · 09/05/2026 23:04

Allseeingallknowing · 09/05/2026 22:06

Will someone admit to having more than the OP?

🙋‍♀️
Heaps more.
Won't get into the shoes and bags.. Those are a whole different story.
Blessed with a huge walk in.

And the 2 of you speak for every office on the planet?

PhaedraTwo · 09/05/2026 23:04

And the 2 of you speak for every office on the planet?

No, not at all, who said that? I was just describing what happens in my particular office. I have no idea what happens in any office bar the ones I happen to have personally worked in, and never said otherwise.

It’s making me think too because I only just donated 5 black bags of clothes/shoes to charity.
I need to get a grip on my impulse buying.

Denim4ever · 09/05/2026 23:08

That's probably somewhat more than I have in most categories. I thought I had a lot of jeans, but not as many as that. My reason for having quite a few pairs of jeans is that I am fashion forward and I try out the different shapes without letting go of all the old ones. So if I listed the types, I still come in under your tally

Or like me. Non client facing, Head of finance and don't care about looking sophisticated in order for people to take me seriously.

Until a few weeks ago that is, when I took early retirement. Now, I have no fucks to give at all.😂

Denim4ever · 09/05/2026 23:12

Re cardigans - I definitely think of them as less than smart wear. You'd never see anyone at a fancy dinner in a cardigan cover up or in a barristers office

PhaedraTwo · 09/05/2026 23:12

I have no trainers, jeans, trousers, gym gear, denim jackets and swim cover ups and I'm not sure what "tops" are.

I haven't counted maybe,
50,60,70 dresses
Half a dozen skirts
20 or maybe more coats
Jackets maybe 20?
Shoes maybe 40?
Boots half a dozen?
Knitwear 30 /40 items
Shirts and blouses 20?

Denim4ever · 09/05/2026 23:14

How can people not know what a top is? I've always had to be very smart but I don't do blouses. I do tops

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 09/05/2026 23:15

I probably have similar if I counted. And I definitely don’t wear even half of it, but I keep buying (second hand) trying to fill the void of any self worth inside me.
