I couldn’t even begin to count my clothes. Well over 100 dresses. 40 pairs of jeans. Definitely more than a 100 tops. I have 20 ish blazers, and over 150 pairs of shoes. I genuinely didn’t know people wore so few clothes.

That’s a mighty big wardrobe you have there!

Vivienne1000 · 10/05/2026 19:54

I am with you on the leggings and joggers, but trousers can be beautiful and much easier to wear in the Winter.

Yes - but she doesn’t own any!

fashionqueen0123 · 10/05/2026 20:55

Bertiebiscuit · 10/05/2026 09:54

Not even close. I have 6 pairs of trousers/jeans, 5 jumpers, 4 cardigans, 4 t shirts, 4 white cotton shirts, 3jackets and 2 winter coats 3pairs of trainers 1pair of sandals, 3pairs espadrilles, - that seems fairly normal to me. All worn frequently.

That’s your whole wardrobe? It sounds like what I’d pack for a weekend away minus the jackets 🤣

This sounds like my wardrobe so I voted YANBU. However I recognise it’s a lot and more than necessary. I only wear about 10% of it and some are over 10 years old.

Yep. Me too.

My wardrobe would be about the same.
A lot of clothes I’ve collected over years.
I’ve also donated, sold plenty of items.
I really could do with a big edit, though…

That’s a mighty big wardrobe you have there!

It’s ridiculous spread over two fitted wardrobes and two big chest of drawers and then another wardrobe in a spare bedroom. The shoes are out of control and there’s boxes under nearly every bed. I need to get it sorted. There’s no way I need even a fraction of it. I enjoy looking at clothes and assembling an outfit but shoes are my downfall.

Willyoujust · 10/05/2026 21:27

WTF! Where do you keep it all!!?

JenniferJupiterr · 10/05/2026 21:36

@Bertiebiscuit god don’t you get bored with like 4 t shirts?

JenniferJupiterr · 10/05/2026 21:38

You have inspired me though OP .. today I filled two large bin bags with clothes and popped them in the loft. They’re my sweatshirts / wool dresses / autumn type stuff so I’ll look at them again in 5 months time

I celebrated by buying a new top and 2 dresses!

Summerbay23 · 10/05/2026 21:43

Wow, I also probably have a 3rd of that, maybe even less. Think I need to go shopping 😂 (to be fair I hate shopping which is probably part of my problem).

Mmmm19 · 10/05/2026 21:48

I’ve probably got more. I don’t even buy lots of clothes (I did revamp quite a bit the last two years after Covid/children) but I’d assume most women would have similar unless you throw away /donate all the time

britinnyc · 10/05/2026 21:59

I am shocked by how little stuff some people have, in one day alone I wear 3 different changes of clothes - gym outfit (leggings top sweatshirt), work clothes (usually jeans and a top and a blazer) and then home clothes because I am not going to make dinner and watch tv wearing jeans and a blazer. On weekends it could be a forth outfit gym, home, day and dinner.

I can be similar and some days I’ll have gym, work and then home.. If I’m home and not going out again I’ll wear pyjamas, I have no clue how many pyjama sets I own but it’s a lot, I love new pyjamas, I can’t be alone in that.

I voted YABU but only because I'm the same and have far too many clothes too. Particularly dresses, sandals, trainers and coats I'm gradually trying to reduce them going through my wardrobe little by little cos I have no more space 😬. I even found a storage box of forgotten sandals today some not worn for years... and I bought new ones last year for my holiday.😅. I need to make few more trips to the Traid bin 😁

OneZanyPoet · 10/05/2026 22:20

I keep my wardrobe to about 75 items not including underwear and accessories but including shoes. If people are shocked by that, I would say: I don’t buy any fast fashion, I don’t have anything I never wear (I have one or two items that I wear rarely because they’re black tie occasion wear), I hire stuff or buy off Vinted then put it straight back on when I need other occasion wear, and I don’t own many pairs of shoes because I have weird feet and most styles don’t fit/aren’t comfortable. If you couldn’t get a basic pair of pumps for under €250 you might not own so many either 🤣. It’s super easy for me to put outfits together- I would get such extreme decision fatigue if I had hundreds of items! I have a couple of gym outfits that wash well and I’ll wash them into the ground then replace. My Patagonia leggings have lasted 7 years so far of constant washing though!

PeppyRoseBeaker · 10/05/2026 22:27

I have double that..I know its not all needed. I have big suit cases in my loft for the out of season clothes just like having them.

SoManyTshirts · 10/05/2026 22:50

I have

26 dresses
27 ‘bottoms’ - jeans, skirts, shorts, leggings
14 coats and jackets
27 jumpers, cardigans and fleeces
50 tops, from vests and T shirts to fancy shirts and tunics.

Much less workout gear and footwear than OP, hiking gear included in the above.

It feels like a lot and I keep a spreadsheet to stop myself buying unnecessary duplicates. I’ve been the same dress size for many years but only a handful of items are more than 10 years old.

But … weddings to go to, I’m obliged to get more stuff. I chose this name for a reason.

LeekFirst · 10/05/2026 22:55

I have two pairs of jeans, one pair of wide legged linen trousers, maybe about five or six summer dresses and one or two smart ones. I'm not sure how many tops and jumpers but they all fit in two drawers. I have quite a lot of gym/casual stuff (leggings, joggers, sweat shirts) which is most of what I wear day to day because I work mostly from home. I'd love to rationalise further and have everything in beautiful fabrics - that's my long term goal.

lilkitten · 10/05/2026 22:57

I have one of most things (jeans, shorts, swimsuit), maybe 5 t-shirts, 2 cardigans, 2 dresses. I only buy it if I'm going to really wear it. Maybe it's my autism. With shoes I have one of each type (boots, trainers, flip-flops, heels).

Purplewarrior · 10/05/2026 13:43

Well no, because there would be a draughty gap. Unless you’re talking about ankle length skirts? You seem to be taking this thread terribly personally and seriously!

I am very interested in these fur lined tights @TheCompactPussycat . Where do you get them from please?

Primark sell them. I can't remember the brand I have - I'll have to check.

I wish I was as disciplined. My wardrobe cries out for a clear out but I cannot find the time :(

I also need to steel myself emotionally to give away my things as some of them I wore when I was a sweet young thing. I think I will have to photograph the items first before I can let go.

omg. So, I have:

3 dresses for summer
0 pairs of jeans.
0 trousers, half summer, half autumn/winter.
5 tops (tunic tops to wear with leggings)
0 jumpers.
2 black cardigans.
0 shorts.
1 coat
0 denim jackets.
0 gym sets.
1 trainers.
0 sandals.
1 boots.
0 swimsuits.
0 swim coverups.

pius…

7 pairs of black leggings :)
1 pair of pretend crocs
10 black long/short sleeved tops to wear with leggings under my 5 tops.
3 pairs of pjs

I’m so rubbish at clothes shopping ;( I literally wear clothes till they wear out, and do 1 wash per week 🤣

Where do you all store so many clothes? My clothes fit in a chest of drawers, my built in wardrobe is storage for things like extra bedding, paperwork etc.

Beastieboys · 11/05/2026 01:39

I have about that amount of clothes.......I'm trying really hard to down size but if it doesn't leave the house there and then it gets cycled back til next time 😖

Rhaenys · 11/05/2026 08:36

This has intrigued me as to how many clothes I have. I think I have a regular amount of ‘normal’ clothes, but perhaps have too many novelty clothes. For example, I’ve got 4 Christmas jumpers, but only 1 regular jumper. I’ve also got a disproportionate amount of trainers compared to other shoes.
