AIBU to feel upset there are no photos of my proposal?

DP proposed to me a couple of weeks ago. I feel really sad he didn’t arrange for anyone to capture this, there’s no photos let alone videos. I have said to him in the past that if I was to ever get engaged then it would be important for me to be able to look back on it in the future. When I put in my friends group chat I was engaged they all asked to see what happened and it was embarrassing to say DP didn’t think of this.

I don’t have instagram. Why can so many of you not read?

We find it one hell of a coincidence that your username, complaint here and writing style are so incredibly similar to those of the OP from a previous thread. And she talked about her Insta.

A PP here linked to it yesterday.

I’ll be fine - he knows he’s punching so will be on best behaviour to keep me happy x

You can’t be complacent. Even the punching types can surprise you.

EdgyUmberCrab · 10/05/2026 13:41

Yes, as 99% of the more than 4,000 people who have voted on this post state, you are being unreasonable. He surprised you with a trip to Rome and then proposed. He sounds lovely and considerate.

I have read all the posts. Long hours of textual analysis when I was doing my English degree persuade me that the poster is almost certainly one and the same.

sheisforrealatiger · 10/05/2026 13:45

Maybe those other posters are the OPs friends who asked to see the proposal pictures 😂

Meant to tag @0Thatsplenty0

He does. He also has wealthy parents, an important attribute in a future husband.

He (well his parents mainly 😂) are stumping up a lot of money for our wedding in Portugal, so I’ve forgiven him!

This is just pure rage bait, I don’t believe a word of it.

KatieHW · 10/05/2026 13:14

Many options are available…how do you think so many others manage it? 🙄

I honestly have no idea. Luckily I dont have friends who are shallow enough to worry about things like this so its not something ive ever thought about.
Is the idea that a photographer stalks you until the right moment so they can capture it? Would you not have noticed a photographer following you around? What happens if the person being proposed to says no, does the photographer still take photos of that?

Ask a passer by, a waiter/waitress, etc.. Nothing stopped you, @KatieHW, from also doing this….

He does what OP wants because she's stunning and he isn't. Such a profound way for a marriage to operate. At least OP won't need to find it in her heart to forgive him any more because he will be doing everything right.

Bunny65 · 10/05/2026 13:51

thisisyoursign · 10/05/2026 12:51

I’ve found it’s pretty common to get a photographer, so yes, people do want the moment captured. It’s not for everyone, but I understand why some people would like to have one.

It’s also not really like having paparazzi following you, it’s one photographer for a few photos and they might form part of a few people milling around anyway (e.g if a dinner was organised as the proposal setting, then waiters might be around or other diners, or if you’re somewhere public like a park then other members of the public might be walking by)

I would absolutely hate this, and what if she says no? Does the photographer still get paid (maybe it’s prepaid). I’d be far more concerned about the ring.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 10/05/2026 13:36

With this kind of attitude, it's pretty clear that the marriage won't last.

But perhaps you won't care as long as you can extract as much material benefit from the arrangement as possible?

I pity the poor man. It seems that he has chosen very unwisely.

This - totally agree.

Why? And so far I've not seen how old she is.

It’s alright, I’ve totally u-turned since I’ve seen further updates from OP. A narcissistic arrogant twerp.

Edited

I was young when I got married, I would never have behaved like this!

Youth is no excuse.

Oh my! You sound like someone with a very warped sense of values. I wish you well OP, I think marriage might be a bit of a challenge for you with this very shallow mindset. My goodness.

Euw, changed my mind now. You sounded just a bit young and naive, now you’re sounding like an arrogant idiot with zero self-awareness. Your relationship is doomed unless your guy is equally as vacuous.

MrsHGWells · 10/05/2026 14:00

For your sake more than his, your exasperated , financially drained family from keeping up with your desperately needy standards and has booked Ant and Dec or Michael McIntyre & all the camera crew are all there to reveal your child, on their way “out of there!” with a big ole wide angle lens.

Excited101 · 10/05/2026 14:03

I seen countless posts about engagements on social media, and I’ve been to maybe 15-20 weddings in the past 18 years- my most recent friends engagement was a few months ago. Not one of them had a photograph of the engagement taken by someone else. I’ve not seen one posted, sent to me, shared by anyone else… I’m also a hobby photographer (I have shot a few weddings) and I’ve still never seen friends/family have it done, nor have I been asked to shoot one myself. The only ones I’ve seen are by self professed ‘influencers’ and celebs online.

Perhaps it’s the norm in your circles op but it isn’t in most.

Are you settling for a man who doesn't deserve you? That's a shame. You could do so much better hun x.

Gloomydownwest · 10/05/2026 14:12

I don't even remember my proposal! 😭

Pessismistic · 10/05/2026 14:13

Op you are so funny you should be on stage have you not seen how many women get cheated on even glamorous women. Op you are so shallow and vain and I really hope this post ends up in the newspaper so your man can see you really are scum. Personality can trump beauty and looks fade so remember that you won’t always look like you do now. You’re an embarrassment to women.

I think it’s all about the wedding not the marriage..
