AIBU to find my husband's constant undressing at home annoying?

My husband has asked me to post on here to guage opinions.
The minute he gets in the door he takes his top off, often- his trousers too and will just be wearing pants. He says it is more comfortable.

I'm starting to find it really annoying, once in a while if it's really hot it makes sense. But it is literally all summer and winter. It means he can't ever answer the door, just pop into the garden or grab something from the car. And to be honest, I just don't like it.

Apparently it is completely normal (his dad did it too) and he thinks I would be surprised because everyone does this in their own homes??

I wasn't asking you, I was asking the person I quoted?

The "protecting surfaces" thing keeps coming up in this thread and I'm baffled. Do none of you ever have sex on the couch or counter? I don't see how it's different.

I just clean everywhere I've been and myself regularly.

Unless you're constantly shagging it's not the same at all.

Are you the poster who keeps a blanket on the sofa which you wash? Do you warn guests that they're sitting on a piece of fabric that your bare arses have been on?

Completely weird isn’t it?
It’s the thought of pubes all over the sofa (or worse) 🤢🤮

Nobody has pubes anymore do they? 🤔

Hang on, so is the sofa tainted if you sit nude on it daily but not if you spaff on it once a month? Does the infrequency of the shagging mean the cleanliness has reset? At what frequency of shagging does it become relevant again? The shag-to-germ ratio, if you will. 🤔😂

Do you let other people use your toilet?

Edit: I'm not the blanket person, BTW.

If he wore shorts around the house, no issue for me. Underwear when sitting on seats etc, I don't think is appropriate.

Burntt · 11/05/2026 15:05

I had an ex who did this. I fucking hated it. Ginger pubes on the black sofa 🤢 wasn’t enough for him to respect my feelings on it.

I kinda think you should have known this before you married? I think it’s nasty and disrespectful to do it when your partner is uncomfortable with it but is it respectful to insist on clothes for him knowing he will then be uncomfortable instead of you? Just not compatible people I guess if you can’t work out a compromise

Does he have sensory processing disorder and or autism? Looks like a neurodivergent thing. People with SPD often struggle with clothes and hate wearing them. My daughter wanders around with few clothes on too. First thing she does when she gets home is peel them all off and wander around naked in a bath robe.

Wearing a bath robe is not nakedness. I sympathise and have specific fleecy full length robes to wear in winter and kaftans for summer. I am completely covered, have no issues with going out to the car/garden/answering doors or greeting unexpected visitors as I am completely covered. There are many different things that are comfortable to wear around the house that don't offend others but allow comfort. I grew up with a father who wore a sarong.

paddleslappingwater · 11/05/2026 18:23

This would annoy me too.
Maybe if we lived in really hot country where it's hot all year round then I wouldn't object to my DP walking around in a pair of shorts or swimming trunks.
Why don't you turn your stat down? You must pay a fortune?

No, it’s me that has blankets on our sofas, and when we have visitors we are fully clothed and I remove the blankets, so they are sitting on pristine cushions!

When you’re sitting on the sofa and watching tv in dead of winter…. Don’t you want to wrap up in a thick soft warm jumper and fleecey joggers @FriendlyMedusa ?

Thechaseison71 · 11/05/2026 18:58

I'm afraid I I really am not getting this . What's the difference between boxers and shorts.

First pic are boxers 2nd pic are shorts

Yes!

Really? I haven’t seen any for years! Thought they went out with shoulder pads and leg warmers! 😀

Unfortunately being autistic those things are sensory hell for me and make me feel suffocated/trapped. I know it's not logically true, but it's very real for my nervous system and has been that way since childhood. I just can't fully relax in clothing, and I like being a bit cold. Thankfully DH is exactly the same and we have formed a weird nudist colony of 2. 😂

Genuinely sounds great to just be in loungewear if you can enjoy it. Sadly I can't!

What will you do when / if you have kids @FriendlyMedusa ?

Hf85 · 13/05/2026 19:44

It’s weird. My partner puts shorts and T-shirt on to be comfy but doesn’t sit round in his boxers like a trog. I would find this annoying!

Merida46 · 14/05/2026 00:26

You should do the same and see what he does.
