Is she happy?
I wish I’d had mine younger

23 is a perfectly reasonable age to have a baby.

SlumChum · 01/05/2026 20:04

That sounds like a perfectly fine age to me, and I didn't have one until mid 30s. There's always a trade off. I have a bit of life experience but no energy, she'll have lezs life experience but lots of energy. There's no right age.

Indianajet · 01/05/2026 20:05

I was 21. It really isn't your business, if she is happy.

Tableforjoan · 01/05/2026 20:05

She is an adult so no she is not young to be pregnant.

A teenager would be young although still legal from 16 to be pregnant.

feathermucker · 01/05/2026 20:06

No. Why do you think 23 is very young?!!

Overtheatlantic · 01/05/2026 20:06

I don’t know. I think it’s probably good in terms of physical strength and vitality, but maybe not as much in terms of maturity, depending on the woman of course.

TowerRavenSeven · 01/05/2026 20:06

Yanbu for thinking Your daughter so young, I would think My 24 year old son so young to be a dad, but in reality they both are not.

DinoLil · 01/05/2026 20:07

No! She's absolutely not! I thought you were going to say she was 13!

FunnyOrca · 01/05/2026 20:07

It took me a long time to get pregnant in my 30s and I probably have a slim chance of having a second, let alone a third (the number I would love to have). I wish I had started at 23.

I also think career-wise I was just starting out at 23 but it hasn’t been until my 30s that I actually had chance of serious promotions. You obviously never know what could/would have been but I do think I actually would be in the same place in my career.

Elisabeth3468 · 01/05/2026 20:07

Had my first at 25 and second at 28. I'm now 30. No I don't think 23 is too young if that's what she wants. It's more a case of can she provide for the baby, have a stable job or income, and a roof over her head? Not to do with age.

Nothankyov · 01/05/2026 20:07

it is so different for everyone. I was 29 when I had my first and it was perfect for me because I wasn’t ready before that. By my sister had her first at 23 and she was so ready. She was really good with managing them when they were little.

LimbOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheHoleTheHoleInTheGround · 01/05/2026 20:07

Unless that's a typo for 13 YABVU.

Pepperedpickles · 01/05/2026 20:08

I was 22 when I had my dd and felt incredibly mature and ready to have her - I’d been in a relationship with her dad for nearly 5 years by that point (we did split up later though!) but my dd is 22 now and I would feel so shocked if she suddenly announced she was pregnant as she seems so much younger than I was at the same age! I think it completely depends on the person and circumstances. My dd is very much in her partying / post student era at the moment!

Me too!

Plummagic · 01/05/2026 20:08

No. 23 seems a perfect age to have a baby.

Overthebow · 01/05/2026 20:08

On the younger side for nowadays, but nothing wrong with it.

StampOnTheGround · 01/05/2026 20:08

Yes it is young to be a mum, but not ridiculously so!

TheyGrewUp · 01/05/2026 20:08

It depends on her circumstances.

Shallotsaresmallonions · 01/05/2026 20:09

I'm 22 and pregnant with my second. I don't feel too young 🤷‍♀️

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 01/05/2026 20:09

YABU.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 01/05/2026 20:10

No. She can build her life around the baby.
If I’d a crystal ball I’d have forfeited my partying 20’s to have children earlier.

My niece is 25, she travels with her baby and has built her life around motherhood.

ScottBakula · 01/05/2026 20:10

DinoLil · 01/05/2026 20:07

So did I.
20+ years old physical is absolutely fine.
Mentally and emotionally , it depends entirely on the young lady.

Completely agree. In fact I moved into a completely different career once DC went to school and am now building that into a life career
