Why isn't there any mainstream media focus on British men rape who molest and rape, women and children? But just 'the boat people' ?! Evil/badness exists everywhere!

I'm an immigrant of white British/European descent and I saw a headline today in the mainstream media about 'rape meaning sex' pleaded according to asylum seekers who have recently tried at court for rape.

What's going on? If I had to report a (my) white British rapist, I really don't think it would've made headlines. Nor would've any other abuse. White Male British men seem to get off with impunity, or I know are ever accused and formally charged.

I feel it is a shocking abuse of power that only newcomers and brown skinned/other culture peoples are singled out.

Why is it that the UK remains so very much patriarchal and oppressive towards women and children? Why are we not centred in such as way that it as important for women and children to thrive in our society and culture as it is for men of any/whichever long standing class? Is it classicism or what is it? Explain it to me, I truly don't understand why it has to be like this other than those who get a rise out of feeling powerful and in control of others?

OP, here. Nowhere in my original post did I say rapists who belong to a certain culture or race - whether legal immigrant, native British citizen or asylum seeker - should get away with/excused for raping. All rape, regardless of the culture/race of the perpetrator, should be prosecuted with the full force of the law.

I was asking why White British men do not face the same public outage, and outrage, as brown skinned individuals, when there are clearly thousands of white men committing misogyny and rape. PPs have attempted to answer this question: It comes down to prejudice, ignorance, white male supremacy, misogyny and racism.

Look at the almost total lack of sympathy for the Sikh girl raped by a white man on this thread by those on here who purport to treat all criminals equally.

Where is the outrage for what she went through? Hardly any reaction to the details of her case that I posted.

Some people’s agenda is as clear as day.

Exactly and all 3 of the rapists had NO right to be here (all had their asylum applications rejected). Egypt is not even at war. One was on the run from a bloody murder conviction and was walking the streets here as a free man!

Women shouldn’t be collateral damage from a system that enables this. And then some saying don’t even talk about the crimes. So yep to both posts.

Exactly.

Seems there are two different questions:
-why are men with criminal records being allowed to seek refuge/asylum in the UK?
-all else being equal, why is there such a disparity in media coverage and public response to crimes/victims/perpetrators?

Dozer · Today 14:40

‘giving white rapists a free pass’. Almost all rapists are free. Few are charged and only a tiny proportion are convicted.

’The full force of the law’ doesn’t exist. The law and justice system doesn’t work.

Agree that there is inadequate media reporting on rape, in general, that the reporting on sexual crimes by immigrants and asylum seekers is likely driven by the agendas of the men in charge of the media oligopoly. reporting on many issues sucks.

Agreed. There seems to be a view on this thread by people who focus exclusively on minority ethnic rapists that somehow those objecting to the disparity want open borders or a free for all when that’s not what anyone has said.

Agree with this too, on both points.

Rape cases are reported differently depending on various factors. Most rapes are committed by a man the victim knows (such as a partner, ex partner, family member, someone they’ve been dating etc) and since rape victims have lifetime anonymity the media has to be very careful in these cases not to report something which could identify the victim.

As I’ve said before, the case OP is referencing was a gang rape on stranger in a public place. Stranger rapes are rare in the UK, gang rapes even more so. This was always going to get press coverage for those details alone, as it’s a very unusual incident.

Dozer · Today 15:05

I don’t think the lack of reporting on male sexual abuse and violence in intimate relationships is because the men who own the media want their outlets to be careful about victims’ privacy.

I think it’s to do with some stats which are freely available so it’s ammter of judging if those stats are accurate. Yes there are of course British men and women who behave badly/ illegally / offend but I think it’s to do with the ratios.

Edited

Rape / paedophile rings are predominantly white:

Figures from the police database show where ethnicity is recorded, that in the first three quarters of 2024 - 85% of group-based child abusers were white

Rape victims have lifetime anonymity by law and a media outlets have to abide by that. It’s not about ‘wanting to protect the victim’s privacy’, it’s the law.

They have to be very careful about reporting anything that could identity the victim - and naming the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim often could risk doing so.

Why are you focusing on where they come from? A man rapes a woman for control and power, regardless of where he comes from. White men who rape do not hold higher standards of women 🤔.

OP it's racism plain and simple. So many of the Protect Our Women crowd in my city have convictions for DV and ABH towards women. They don't give a shite about the women, they are just racists.

Its not racism that is the problem. The cause of the problem is so huge and all-encompassing that without a strong perspective on it, many like yourself do not see it properly or at all. The problem is patriarchy. As another pp said, some of its cultural manifestions vary, but essentially it is male dominance over women. Men from one culture to another vary in how much they despise women and want control over them. But there is a baseline of misogyny in all of them, that comes out in sex as power, which is what rape is. Nothing to do with ethnicity, race, skin pigment or anything else except how extreme their cultural norms are in hating women and feeling entitled to do whatever they want with them.

Two completely different issues. It makes news, because it’s more prevalent, especially recently. I know you obviously don’t want to hear it,but it’s true.

The way I see it is like this. The issue is men. Adding More men , many of them traumatised, that have gone through God knows what, with possible metal health issues, that are treated like shit and being told how unwanted they are , with no real supervision , support or input …. Is that really a good idea?

The most left wing post that there ever was. Yeah, let’s look after the evil shits.
