2 small slices of bread (from a 400g loaf)
3 rashers of bacon
1 small tomato
a slice of cheese.

a family member says it’s greedy and fattening. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix and have had nothing inbetween.

OP posts:

Please lord let me never be the type of person who says they can only eat a bacon sandwich a few times a year.

But there are carbs and carbs. A sugar coated white donut is carbs. You can't pretend it's only on MN that that isrecognised as unhealthy.

What are you on about, where did the OP say she was eating a doughnut?

Frankly a IGAF if a doughnut is healthy or not, it's delicious and if I want to eat one then I will.

Comefromaway · Today 15:57

You are being unreasonable for contaminating delicious bacon with cheese but otherwise a bacon sandwich is top tier, only beaten by a bacon and tomato staffordshire oatcake.

And if you grilled the bacon instead of frying it it is even better.

This person sounds like they have an unhealthy attitude to food.

Well let's take this step by step for you then!

Your comment was that it is only on MN that people think carbs are unhealthy.

My point was that carbs exist on a spectrum of healthiness. White bread is less healthy than wholegrain bread, which in turn is generally less healthy than, say rolled oats.

The further toward the donut end you go, the less healthy they are. White bread is further down the unhealthy end of that spectrum than many people realise. It is also very different today from the sort of "white" bread that was eaten in previous generations, because of the way it is processed.

Plenty of people outside MN recognise that many carbs are poor food choices.

ETA I mean I'm sorry that they are, because there is no-one who loves a crumpet as much as I do! But I'm not kidding myself its a good choice.

Sounds delicious to me!

I mean eating a bacon sandwich in front of someone on a liquid diet and doing you a favour is pretty sadistic!

Yes, and the one who blew out her nephews candles on his birthday cake

I missed that particular thread

Well it's around 1000cals with cheese added.
That food intake for just lunch snd you will def get fat.

It is nothing of the sort. 2 slices bread from a 400g small loaf around 150 cals for the 2.
3 slices bacon around 180 cals. Slice of cheese around 100 cals for 25g. Add about 80 cals for a generous 10 g butter if used.
Around 500 cals for lunch, perfectly fine, normal amount to consume and nowhere near 1000 calories.

What does your relative eat ? I know if I had told my mum i had breakfast AND lunch she would ask where do I put it all! She is 74 though and eats like a bird

Yes! My 81yr old mum is the same, she doesn’t have lunch either.

She’s round here helping me unblock my drain, I think she was jealous that I had a nice sandwich whilst she had her weird milkshake thing

Definitely this. I'd be very jealous too! A bacon sandwich is definitely part of a balanced diet

Cheese and bacon sarnie sounds well lardy!

Yeah it's potentially quite a lot of saturated fat in one meal.

Probably delicious though!

Feelingstressedbutdoingmybest · Today 16:17

Love a bacon sandwich and don't think that was greedy at all. I am trying to cut down a bit on processed meat though.

Delphiniumandlupins · Today 16:17

Is a bacon (and cheese) sandwich suitable for someone with IBS? Have you sold your bike yet? I think it's lovely you and your sister are helping each other today.

However, there seems to be a link with all your posts:
Bathroom
Birthday cake candles
Bicycle
Blackbird
Bacon

She’s on a liquid diet at the minute 🙄

Then she's just projecting

You and your sister need to take a long break from each other.

Easily rattled aren't you?

Depends if you are burning off the calories riding your two bikes or lugging a borrowed keyboard around I suppose.

SassyButClassy · Today 16:40

The comment sounds like it came from a person who is 300+ years old and probably eats a boiled egg a year. My MIL is like this. She's rotund but swears she only eats oxygen and comments on others eating habits.

I calorie count with my eyes everything that I eat, and there’s no way I’d eat cheese and bacon in a sandwich because I’d get fat and I don’t want to get fat. Other people have different metabolisms and are not so fussed about being fat.

What, even if overall you consumed fewer calories in the day than you burned, you’d still ‘get fat’ just because you had cheese and bacon in a sandwich?

If you're calorie-counting with your eyes, this is why you're getting fat, not the bacon you don't eat. Buy some food scales and download an app, or just eat real, unprocessed food.

Trust me, the bacon sandwich I had for lunch is not going to make me fat. I have a good, balanced diet, and exercise a lot.

JohnTheRevelator · Today 16:51

Some people would say that eating 2 lettuce leaves is greedy. You should only have one!
