AIBU to think bacon sandwich lunch is not greedy?

2 small slices of bread (from a 400g loaf)
3 rashers of bacon
1 small tomato
a slice of cheese.

a family member says it’s greedy and fattening. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix and have had nothing inbetween.

You know size 12 is morbidly obese on MN and thanks to vanity sizing means you're actually really a size 26.

It's a typo, I'm really size 21.

She’s round here helping me unblock my drain, I think she was jealous that I had a nice sandwich whilst she had her weird milkshake thing

Ooo chemical concoction and milk mmm😋

GreyfriarsJobbies · 22/04/2026 19:22

Oh just tell them to piss off. Can't stand the diet police.

usedtobeaylis · 22/04/2026 20:57

Other people panicking about one meal being 'fattening' is mental.

Laurmolonlabe · 22/04/2026 21:04

Sounds fine to me- what on earth has it got to do with anyone else?
The family member either has a problem with food, or thinks you are fat.

It's fucking nuts.
A pretty basic bacon sandwich for heaven's sake.
I'd offer smelling salts but no doubt I'd be told they are too high in carbs and saturated fat.

Well let's take this step by step for you then!

Your comment was that it is only on MN that people think carbs are unhealthy.

My point was that carbs exist on a spectrum of healthiness. White bread is less healthy than wholegrain bread, which in turn is generally less healthy than, say rolled oats.

The further toward the donut end you go, the less healthy they are. White bread is further down the unhealthy end of that spectrum than many people realise. It is also very different today from the sort of "white" bread that was eaten in previous generations, because of the way it is processed.

Plenty of people outside MN recognise that many carbs are poor food choices.

ETA I mean I'm sorry that they are, because there is no-one who loves a crumpet as much as I do! But I'm not kidding myself its a good choice.

Edited

No one item is healthy or unhealthy really, in terms of effect on health. Eating a doughnut every now and then won’t make you unhealthy. Or fat. Good choices operate at a whole diet level - every little snack doesn’t have to be virtuous.

That post you quoted is bonkers. A crumpet is an absolutely fine choice. A crumpet doesn't harm anyone unless they have a specific intolerance. Only eating crumpets might be a problem. But nobody is only eating crumpets - or bacon sandwiches - and in that context, nobody therefore is here 'promoting healthy eating', they're only here preaching.

Said family member needs educating. Which is probably why she's overweight & drinking a meal replacement shake

Nasty.

Tell them to take a long walk off a short pier.

Are they trying to give you an eating dissorder?

They should not be commenting on the food you are eating, it is none of their buisness.

I suggest you don't take any notice of their twisted logic.

A bacon sandwich is fine. A cheese sandwich is fine. But for me, cheese does not go with bacon in a sandwich. Irrational I know, as ham and cheese is absolutely fine 😂 However, it would be high in protein and I wouldn't say it was greedy or even fattening, when eaten as part of a balanced diet overall

It depends on the cheese. Bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce is delicious!

Trishyb10 · 23/04/2026 21:14

Bacon sandwiches are common for breakfast so why not at dinnertime an odd time (noon) if we can,t have a naughty treat whats the point of anything ❤️

Dishwashersforever · 23/04/2026 21:17

Only unreasonable cos cheese doesn’t go with bacon in a sarnie!! Otherwise it’s fine!

It bloody well does - my local bakery does a cheese & bacon wrap which is lovely, and off the back of that I tried adding cheese to a bacon sandwich with excellent results.

Nope absolutely not having it !

Zanatdy · 23/04/2026 21:51

Its a perfectly normal sized lunch in my opinion.

mondaytosunday · 23/04/2026 21:56

I’d object more to your breakfast - not much protein. But your lunch sounds fine. I would have had a salad too, but it’s not greedy nor fattening

WhatcakeshalIbaketoday · 23/04/2026 22:13

It’s a poor show if you cannot take some joy from eating a bacon sarnie without someone piping up. Hope you enjoyed every mouthful OP.

You have a seriously unhealthy obsession of posting about your sister. It's just weird at this point.. As soon as I read this I knew it would be you before even looking at the username.

You were more awake than me!!

I wonder how this lunch affects IBS?

her sister is pure evil, imagine being there to help unblock drains!

AnotherName2025 · 24/04/2026 07:13

Delphiniumandlupins · 22/04/2026 16:17

Is a bacon (and cheese) sandwich suitable for someone with IBS? Have you sold your bike yet? I think it's lovely you and your sister are helping each other today.

However, there seems to be a link with all your posts:
Bathroom
Birthday cake candles
Bicycle
Blackbird
Bacon

Oh I've missed some of the batshittery.
the bedroom thread was enough for me😵‍💫😵‍💫 then there was another ine where someone pointed out it was the bathroom Op. but I can't remember what it was about. None if those sound familiar. Perhaphs there's yet another one...
