AIBU to think bacon sandwich lunch is not greedy?

2 small slices of bread (from a 400g loaf)
3 rashers of bacon
1 small tomato
a slice of cheese.

a family member says it’s greedy and fattening. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix and have had nothing inbetween.

Guys, there's a lot more to this than a bacon sandwich (delicious as they are).

Objectdive · Today 14:49

I think its sensible to assume that the OP manages to eat a variety of other foods, and doesn't live on bacon sandwiches 24/7.

She’s on a liquid diet at the minute 🙄

She's jealous!!!

likelysuspect · Today 14:51

I know people like this

They wouldnt see a ham sandwich as anything out of the ordinary or different or 'big' or something

But a bacon sandwich or fried egg sandwich or some other hot filling, perhaps sausages, would be seen as a big lunch or larger than your bog standard cheese sandwich

Im not sure I see the difference. Its a filling between slices of bread

Jollyjupiter · Today 13:33

Well it's around 1000cals with cheese added.
That food intake for just lunch snd you will def get fat.

Depends on your overall daily intake and how much exercise you do. A bacon sandwich on its own cannot be ‘fattening’.

Anyone helping with a blocked drain is a kindness. What a nice relative.

Unfortunately people aren't one dimensional.

She has issues with food and probably body image/self esteem: liquid diet, commenting on your food etc.

She is projecting her own insecurities onto your choices. Try not to let it get to you.

She probably feels like she's doing 'all the work' unblocking drain, eating a shit shake while you're lounging and eating a bacon sarnie.

No it's not fair to look at it that way either but try to just set it aside and move on.

I'm not sure I'd eat a bacon sandwich for lunch. Not because it's greedy but because it wouldn't fill me up. I need more than that.

ah I wasn’t sat lounging, I was sat painting a cabinet for her

I see contispation and not an ounce of fibre OP! Your sandwich looks fine and delicious but please for the sake,of your colon add some veggies and/or fruits to your lunch

Maybe she eats lots of veg/fibre with her evening meal.

Not really greedy at all.

Today I had 8 rashers of bacon with 4 sausages and a large chunk of Brie. Tasted phenomenal.

Not fattening at all but so satisfying.

Is this true...and if so, why???

Morepositivemum · Today 14:53

Everyone is different. Ignore people judging a meal, they’re not worth listening to

Pieceofpurplesky · Today 14:54

I want a bacon sandwich now. Crispy. With brown sauce.

She had weetabix for breakfast. For all you know she might be having a fibre laden evening meal. The bread could be wholemeal, she doesn’t say. One meal doesn’t affect your weight or digestion. If I got constipation from eating one bacon sarnie I’d be round the doctor’s pronto. It’s not normal.

We don’t get to police what other adults eat but if I was on a very restricted diet and went to help a friend with an unpleasant task (unblocking the drain), I’d be pissed off if they started cooking up delicious smelling bacon and eating it in front of me. You were both rude. Her rudeness is more understandable.

Anyone on a restricted diet who can't be around people eating normally is never going to be successful at keeping weight off.

She’s in the garden furiously unblocking my drain. Can’t do it as I have a neck injury (no she didn’t do it 😂).

anyway I have never said I can’t stand her

A bacon sandwich for lunch is totally acceptable and her telling you it's greedy is annoying. However, anyone who show's up to 'furiously' unblock my drain for me can basically say what they like TBH 😂

Do you get constipation every time you eat something that doesnt involve a lot of fibre?

I had a mini babybel today on its own. Will I need the senakot?

LBFseBrom · Today 15:02

I had the same for my lunch, it was lovely.
I fail to see how it is 'greedy' and what you have to eat is nobody else's business anyway.

Where on earth are you getting your numbers from??

A slice of cheddar is 100kc, the bacon would be maybe 160kc and about 150kc average for two small slices of white bread. So unless the theres 600kcal in her slice of tomato it’s nowhere remotely near 1000kc and 410kc is a perfectly acceptable lunch

Goditsmemargaret · Today 14:53

Yes because I enjoy it and it keeps me satiated and lean.

QueenBambi · Today 15:13

Liquid lunch! There's your issue, your relative has a food issue. Enjoy your food. Sounds good and normal to me.

She’s round here helping me unblock my drain, I think she was jealous that I had a nice sandwich whilst she had her weird milkshake thing

I bet her weird milkshake thing is full of chemicals.

It's so tempting to say something like 'what a shame you can't trust yourself to just eat normal food instead of this chemical filled crap'.

Yes, that's a rude comment but she (relative) started it. Shouldn't dish it out if you can't take it...

Withthe2Ls · Today 15:13

That person has a horrific relationship with food but tbh you coming on mumsnet for justification and telling us how many grams your bread it doesn’t sound great either

Tell her not to be rude! It’s a totally healthy lunch option. Unless you also added half a tub of Lurpak, of course?
