AIBU to think bacon sandwich lunch is not greedy?

2 small slices of bread (from a 400g loaf)
3 rashers of bacon
1 small tomato
a slice of cheese.

a family member says it’s greedy and fattening. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix and have had nothing inbetween.

It's very unhealthy amd not a great choice if you are overweight...it's your body though.

catipuss · Today 13:13

It's not greedy, I think they were jealous, I love a bacon sarnie and it smells divine. Not very healthy but a lovely treat for me. You don't have to be perfect all the time.

She’s round here helping me unblock my drain, I think she was jealous that I had a nice sandwich whilst she had her weird milkshake thing

It doesn't matter if she was jealous she was. Just putting her insecurities on to you,

RoseField1 · Today 13:13

No food is 'fattening' by itself so calling food fattening is stupid and calling you greedy for eating a perfectly normal meal is rude and ignorant.

Have a twix babe, it'll perk you right up.

Dontknowwhattobelieve2 · Today 13:14

Because a liquid diet of milkshakes is sooo much healthier right?🙄

Parsleyforme · Today 13:15

I eat pretty healthily and 3 rashers of bacon is nothing! I wouldn’t take any advice from someone who uses the word “fattening”, it’s quite outdated and doesn’t take account of how bodies actually work

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · Today 13:15

It's a perfectly standard lunch imo. My husband does lunches and it's usually some sort of variation on a sandwich/toastie/wrap with a side of salad/kimchi/sauerkraut/fruit dependent on what's in the fridge. Bacon and egg sandwiches are in the rotation. I wouldn't want to eat it every day as it is a bit of a high calorie option but in the mix of other lunch options it's perfectly fine.

She’s on a liquid diet at the minute 🙄

two words to her will solve your problem
Fuck.
Off.

No wonder she's grumpy.

FallenNight · Today 13:19

Bacon is high in saturated fat and a processed meat that should be eaten in moderation. Tastes good though.

People attacking the posters pointing this out are part of the huge problem in the UK with disordered eating and poor nutrition. Shaming people for having an awareness of what is a healthy or unhealthy meal is really damaging. Nobody on this thread has said its greedy. Some have pointed out its not healthy, but fine as part of a balanced diet. Lots have pointed out that the word fattening and commenting unasked on others diets is not acceptable. Many while making unhelpful comments on the liquid diet. We all try our best, shaming anyone is pretty shitty.

I assume that people who don't eat like to suck the joy out of everyone else's food because they're permanently in a bad mood from starving themselves.

You see it on here all the time, I assume it'll be a matter of time before someone pops up to tell you you're eating too many carbs and that bacon is carcinogenic.

Absolutely on the button!

mindutopia · Today 13:08

It’s not an especially healthy lunch, no.

Would I have it a few times a year? Yes, maybe.

I don’t think it’s ‘greedy’ as it’s not loads of food, it’s just not a particularly healthy choice.

That said, it’s rude to comment on what someone is eating. It sounds like your mum has food issues.

Edited

A few times a year!! You’re joking? I have it much more frequently than that and my diet is perfectly healthy and balanced.

OP - I hope you had it with brown sauce?

A few times a year... Peak MN. Enjoy your sandwich, OP.

DecisionTime123 · Today 13:24

OP: why do you care? You could be having half a banana and you'd get people on here telling you it's too much sugar, and you could be having 2 MacDonalds orders (yes 2) and WTAF would it matter?

The content of the lunch is not the issue here; it's that someone said it was greedy to eat a sandwich for lunch and you then felt the need to get reassurance. Although I think we can definitely confirm the person who said that to you has issues of their own!

So why are you asking if you're unreasonable to think it's not greedy??

What do you think, honestly?

Some have been really patronising too

Bet you and your diet are more healthy than liquid diet friend.

nononononono tomato ketchup is the ONLY choice

Talipesmum · Today 13:29

Fattening - yes. Greedy - no, that’s a very loaded description and factually will depend on context of other food eaten and how often you have it, and generally isn’t an ok thing for people to say to each other.

It’s of course ok to eat a bacon sandwich. I would eat one, knowing it was fattening, as I do many other things!

Obviously jealous !!
It's not fattening at all I have eaten Egg bacon sandwiches with a small wholemeal loaf and butter for the last 2 nearly 3 years on slimming world plan and have lost 3 stone lol 😁 everyday !!!!!!! Today I added tomatoes for added speed
Eat your sarnie and enjoy and Weetabix is a healthy fibre as well !!!!

usedtobeaylis · Today 13:30

Nobody is getting fat from a bacon sandwich 😅

Hellometime · Today 13:32

Never had cheese on a bacon sandwich is it nice?
The language greedy and fattening makes me think it’s an older person criticising you. I wonder if it’s because it’s cooked? If you’d had a ham and cheese sandwich they wouldn’t have commented.

Jollyjupiter · Today 13:33

usedtobeaylis · Today 13:30

Well it's around 1000cals with cheese added.
That food intake for just lunch snd you will def get fat.
