AIBU to think bacon sandwich lunch is not greedy?

2 small slices of bread (from a 400g loaf)
3 rashers of bacon
1 small tomato
a slice of cheese.

a family member says it’s greedy and fattening. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix and have had nothing inbetween.

I would have tuned out at "fattening" tbh their opinion doesn't matter, a bacon sandwich is a perfectly acceptable lunch.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · Yesterday 12:57

They are very small slices of bread. I don’t eat bacon so I have no concept of how filling it is, but it doesn’t sound much.

Its got nothing to do with your relative though, even if you had ten times that.

Love a bacon sandwich- sometimes with tomatoes, sometimes with mushrooms!
Perfectly acceptable lunch!

Turnitoffnonagain · Yesterday 12:58

Sounds like a nice lunch to me.
I've had a granary roll with a slice of lean ham, 2 tomatoes and a dab of mayo.
I'd eat bacon more often, but my cholesterol is slightly raised so swerving it. 😒

julesover40 · Yesterday 12:58

Oh I would love a BLT for my lunch now........

DoubleShotEspressox · Yesterday 12:58

Sounds fucking delicious. Enjoy it op. Completely normal lunch.

Ablondiebutagoody · Yesterday 12:59

I would eat that between a bigger breakfast than yours and lunch

What does your relative eat ? I know if I had told my mum i had breakfast AND lunch she would ask where do I put it all! She is 74 though and eats like a bird

She’s on a liquid diet at the minute 🙄

A bacon sandwich is fine. A cheese sandwich is fine. But for me, cheese does not go with bacon in a sandwich. Irrational I know, as ham and cheese is absolutely fine 😂 However, it would be high in protein and I wouldn't say it was greedy or even fattening, when eaten as part of a balanced diet overall

PullTheBricksDown · Yesterday 13:02

Why is anyone giving their opinion on what you eat for lunch? It's up to you!

Oh ok well honestly just ignore her let her do her own thing and you eat what you enjoy.

Is the liquid vodka and she's lost her filter? I don't eat bacon, but it sounds like an acceptable amount of food to me.

Do you have a weight problem and is it your mum?

She’s round here helping me unblock my drain, I think she was jealous that I had a nice sandwich whilst she had her weird milkshake thing

We often have a bacon sandwich for lunch on a weekend. Wouldn't have it everyday but a treat now and then is not a problem

bigsoftcocks · Yesterday 13:06

has to be your mother. The words greedy and fattening are much more generational.
makes me think of those threads you see around Christmas about in-laws serving half a potato and one slice of turkey for Christmas dinner. Then the OP being starving for the whole of the Christmas break

mindutopia · Yesterday 13:08

It’s not an especially healthy lunch, no.

Would I have it a few times a year? Yes, maybe.

I don’t think it’s ‘greedy’ as it’s not loads of food, it’s just not a particularly healthy choice.

That said, it’s rude to comment on what someone is eating. It sounds like your mum has food issues.

Well there you go, clearly she's having issues! Why are you letting this get to you?

Loomis · Yesterday 13:08

I assume that people who don't eat like to suck the joy out of everyone else's food because they're permanently in a bad mood from starving themselves.

You see it on here all the time, I assume it'll be a matter of time before someone pops up to tell you you're eating too many carbs and that bacon is carcinogenic.

Oh look, bingo 🤣

ehb102 · Yesterday 13:09

I am just cooking my three rashers to have with my two slices of bread and other bits that still fit in with my calorie controlled meal (deficit). Definate jealousy and performativity going on.

It’s not my mum, she wouldn’t care what anyone ate

You’re brave asking this question on here, I’m anticipating the flurry of comments telling you how many calories it must have and how they survive on a leaf of lettuce until dinner time.

Your relative is clearly miserable and begrudging on her liquid diet. She should know that she’s wasting her time unless it is a detox before her making positive permanent changes to her diet but not your circus, not your monkeys 😂 enjoy your sandwich.
