AIBU to think bacon sandwich lunch is not greedy?

2 small slices of bread (from a 400g loaf)
3 rashers of bacon
1 small tomato
a slice of cheese.

a family member says it’s greedy and fattening. For breakfast I had 2 weetabix and have had nothing inbetween.

usedtobeaylis · 22/04/2026 13:58

I would dispute that it was even 1000 calories. Slight hysteria there.

Error404FucksNotFound · 22/04/2026 13:59

It's perfectly fine. Don't pay any attention.
They sound like they need a good sandwich themselves. Those milkshake diet things are revolting.

usedtobeaylis · 22/04/2026 13:59

You can eat a bacon and cheese sandwich every day of life and never put a pound on.

LeaderBee · 22/04/2026 14:00

How is one sandwich greedy? would they rather you have nothing for dinner? A fucking apple, perhaps?

LostFuse · 22/04/2026 14:00

BLT is arguably better :)

Also, breakfast for tea!

ohyesido · 22/04/2026 14:01

i guess there’s something more to this than the sandwich

SomethingFun · 22/04/2026 14:01

Jollyjupiter · 22/04/2026 13:33

Well it's around 1000cals with cheese added.
That food intake for just lunch snd you will def get fat.

There is no way a sandwich as described has a 1000 calories. Please show your working

Then eat no biscuits.

One biscuit's not worth the energy.

Why are you saying these things? 👀🤣

And the way you're doing it is like you're making a statement that applies to everyone!

AliceNotInChains · 22/04/2026 14:05

Needhelp101 · 22/04/2026 13:55

I thought absolutely the same thing!

OP, why do you spend so much time with your sister, as you clearly can't stand her?

She’s in the garden furiously unblocking my drain. Can’t do it as I have a neck injury (no she didn’t do it 😂).

anyway I have never said I can’t stand her

Yes, and I remember her from blowing out nephews candles and the disagreement about using the toilet.

Oh god. Not again

Malasana · 22/04/2026 14:07

No individual food item or meal is “fattening” - it’s the context of your overall diet. It’s one meal out of 21 in a week.
Your relative needs to mind their business and keep their eyes on their own diet. I hope you told them this.

Error404FucksNotFound · 22/04/2026 14:07

A thousand calories?
Pmsl.
2 slices of bread from a 400g loaf - less than 200
3 rashers of bacon - less than 200
A tomato - 14
A slice of cheese proper cheese? - 104

I like to be fit and healthy, I'm not bothered so much about being slim. I also like bacon. The two are not mutually exclusive. I have to skip the bread because white bread makes me binge, and bacon on wholegrain bread is wrong, but bacon, eggs, and mushrooms are amazing.

Secretseverywhere · 22/04/2026 14:08

Bacon and cheese does sound a bit fattening but delicious. If you were to French toast the bread and add a smidge of HP then that was my hangover cure breakfast pre children.

AliceNotInChains · 22/04/2026 13:00

She’s on a liquid diet at the minute 🙄

So she's starving and jealous..that's not alot of food,do not let people tell you how much food is too much..ever xx

it's about 6-700 calories at best, as described.

Vdlormp · 22/04/2026 14:11

We don’t get to police what other adults eat but if I was on a very restricted diet and went to help a friend with an unpleasant task (unblocking the drain), I’d be pissed off if they started cooking up delicious smelling bacon and eating it in front of me. You were both rude. Her rudeness is more understandable.

LlynTegid · 22/04/2026 14:12

A larger bacon sandwich than I would make, but a bacon sandwich is a reasonable lunch.

Objectdive · 22/04/2026 14:13

I really hate the use of the word 'fattening.' It's a word my mum used in the 1980's, and it takes me a bit aback to hear people use it today.

It's just such an unhelpful, old-fashioned way to describe food.

Your lunch is fine, OP.

Sounds like a you problem tbh.

Oh my God, it's that poster?

Oleoreoleo · 22/04/2026 14:15

Only greedy if you used up all the bacon, or ate someone else’s share.

BunnyLake · 22/04/2026 14:16

mindutopia · 22/04/2026 13:08

It’s not an especially healthy lunch, no.

Would I have it a few times a year? Yes, maybe.

I don’t think it’s ‘greedy’ as it’s not loads of food, it’s just not a particularly healthy choice.

That said, it’s rude to comment on what someone is eating. It sounds like your mum has food issues.

Yesterday I had two rashers of bacon in a croissant. It was delicious. I’d have another right now but I’ve run out croissants.

Bacon is high in saturated fat and a processed meat that should be eaten in moderation. Tastes good though.

People attacking the posters pointing this out are part of the huge problem in the UK with disordered eating and poor nutrition. Shaming people for having an awareness of what is a healthy or unhealthy meal is really damaging. Nobody on this thread has said its greedy. Some have pointed out its not healthy, but fine as part of a balanced diet. Lots have pointed out that the word fattening and commenting unasked on others diets is not acceptable. Many while making unhelpful comments on the liquid diet. We all try our best, shaming anyone is pretty shitty.

Yep agree. Seems we aren’t allowed to promote healthy eating without being part of the lettuce leaf gang. I love a bacon butty but three rashers plus cheese if it’s a regular lunch isn’t great. As a treat now and then it’s fine.
