Daughter won't take her socks off on holiday

Hi,

I am going on holiday to Gran Canaria with my eldest daughter in a few weeks time. The weather of course will be quite warm and there's something that bugs me about my daughter when we go on a sunshine holiday. Whatever she is wearing on her feet (sliders, crocs & sandals) she will pair them with socks, even in boiling weather! Personally I am a flip flop and bare feet all day kind of woman. Is anyone else's son or daughter reluctant to take their socks off on holiday or is it just mine? I do worry she will overheat one of these days even at 21 years old. Is there anything I could say to her about this to convince her to ditch the socks?

She's 21. She's not going to overheat from wearing socks. WTF.

It’s apparently the fashion now - blows my tiny millennial mind but then, I’m still wearing ankle socks with sneakers.

YA obviously BVVU, OP. None of your flipping business. And overheating? I used to do mainland Spain in high summer in jeans and leather jackets - never had an issue. Feels like maybe you need to cut the apron strings and recognise that your daughter is a fully grown adult, not a 7-year-old 😂😂😂

😂 I literally haven’t not worn socks in my entire living memory! (Except in water of course).

Hate the feeling of different textures on my feet. Who cares about what it looks like, it’s all about comfort! Plus socks are great!

They totally are ankle socks... because, well, they end at the ankle! I used to play rugby so all of my body looks like Miss Trunchbull's sadly. Gone to seed I think is the saying.

I was going to say similar. I will wear flip flops round a pool or on a beach but mostly because I can’t stand the sand in my trainers!! It never goes!!!

But most of the time I wear socks. I hate feeling bits in my feet and I feel so much calmer with socks. Even in the summer. Not died yet.
