If you had a pub roast dinner at 4pm; would you expect to have a dinner that evening?

Please settle an argument with my DH…

Maybe a piece of toast at 7 ish

CeciliaMars · 05/04/2026 18:43

No way!

Happyjoe · 05/04/2026 18:43

Goodness me no, be sat happily in a food coma for the rest of the day.
If he's hungry, tell him to make himself a sarnie or a bowl of porridge.

EeyoresLostTail · 05/04/2026 18:43

No thats just silly needing another full Meal later Maybe some snacks if hungry

BoarBrush · 05/04/2026 18:44

Christ no, we don't even eat when we've had lunch out at 12ish nevermind at tea time.

Twasasurprise · 05/04/2026 18:44

No. I could understand a snack though.

PinkNailPolish2026 · 05/04/2026 18:45

No. We had a full roast at 2pm, I won’t eat again until tomorrow morning, DH will probably have toast later.

BillieWiper · 05/04/2026 18:46

No, not a proper one. If I'd eaten loads at lunch then nothing. If I didn't have that much then maybe a toastie or just snacks like sweets, crisps, nuts or popcorn in the late evening.

Smellmyfart · 05/04/2026 18:46

No, if I did feel peckish later, id make myself some toast

Besidemyselfwithworry · 05/04/2026 18:46

Minimili · 05/04/2026 18:36

I HATE the word snack but am grateful to you for not using “picky bits”.

“Nibbles” is another annoying one.

Yes “nibbles” is irritating I agree

OttersOnAPlane · 05/04/2026 18:47

Snack or butty around 9ish

Starzinsky · 05/04/2026 18:47

Depends if that was also your lunch.

MummyWillow1 · 05/04/2026 18:50

No, I would be too full.

Waftaround · 05/04/2026 18:50

Not a full meal but I’d want something later. Toast or cheese and biscuits maybe. 4pm is too early for my last meal of the day.

EchoedSilence · 05/04/2026 18:52

I'd be hungry later.I'd just have a sandwich though. Or some cake.Or maybe both.

caringcarer · 05/04/2026 18:52

Maybe an apple sliced up or a few grapes.

Parsleyforme · 05/04/2026 18:52

Maybe a small portion of a “proper” meal a bit later than usual or some kind of picky bits in the evening. But yes I would need to eat again before bed

LaurieFairyCake · 05/04/2026 18:53

Well no, that was practically dinner time

Foxesinthesnow · 05/04/2026 18:53

Omelette or beans on toast otherwise I’d be up in the night

shrunkenhead · 05/04/2026 18:54

God, no! I wouldn't be able to move after a pub roast never mind start cooking again!

PixieBigShoes · 05/04/2026 18:55

Maybe a cheese board

dapsnotplimsolls · 05/04/2026 18:56

Meal? No. Snack? Yes.

Absolutely not!

Not even the kids would want feeding again! And if they did then they know where the kitchen is!

FoolOfShips · 05/04/2026 18:56

Not, not if I'd eaten it at 4pm. Up to 2pm I would probably have a light 'tea' in the evening - soup, sandwich type of thing, but after that it would heading into evening meal territory and, after a full dinner, I wouldn't want anything else.

BeaLola · 05/04/2026 18:57

No - we had Sunday lunch today (main course at 2:30) and DH & I are not eating again apart from perhaps a crumpet or hot cross bun and cup of tea later this evening
