Both the parents outside with the kids, several kids running around screaming at 6.30am. Do people have no shame?

No it’s humour.

It is disrespectful.

YANBU. I’m about to nip out in the garden and quietly set ours up for my 4 and 7 year old. They will go out later this morning after breakfast to do it. It is too early and unfair on neighbours otherwise. Also, it is good for children to learn patience, and the excitement is in the anticipation- it’s over pretty quickly!

If it was me I'd be feeling so guilty and anxious if I was outside with them for some reason. Do people not feel like that? Or ignore the emotion? Or maybe the children wanted to do it at 6.30am and they have no boundaries.

I’ve said YANBU because it’s a bit selfish. But boundaries? Have a coffee and unclench.

"It's only once a year" is ridiculous. If people lack consideration for an easter egg hunt they'll lack consideration on other occasions. Shitty and unnecessary.

Exactly. The parents will be shit, lazy parents all year round, not just at Easter.

"Let's do the Easter egg hunt at 10."
"Oh you want to do it right now little Veruca Salt? Of course darling, whatever you demand dear Veruca."

EasterEggCrazy · 05/04/2026 07:24

Amateurs. My kids were out hunting for eggs at just before 6am and are already filled up on chocolate eggs and pancakes. Screaming all done. 😬 😴

greengreengrass3 · 05/04/2026 07:24

Absolutely not okay, I wouldn’t be happy either

If, indeed, he even existed. 😉.

Yes, it's people that can never say no to their kids.
Judging by some of the replies there's a few of those parents on this thread.

Weird comment.

No, it's a very, very funny comment 🤣

Pop round and ask if any of your surmises apply to them. Let us know what they say

I would be ok with this (even though Easter egg hunts have never been a thing for us). Clearly the kids were excited. Let them have some fun.

To be fair, lazy parents would be disinclined to be up at 6.30am.

TheOGOC · 05/04/2026 07:31

My mind is boggling that 30% of people so far think that this is ok!

Allisgoodtoday · 05/04/2026 07:32

It's Easter. It comes once a year. Some of us have been up since 5am for the early morning service, outdoors, with breakfast as the sun rises.

Children's voices wouldn't bother me, if it woke me and I was tired, I'd turn over and go back to sleep. Otherwise, I'd get up. Can't see the issue.

However, if it's neighbours who are always noisy (dogs barking etc. as you mentioned) I can see it might add to the irritation you already feel.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 05/04/2026 07:32

Some real fun sponges on this thread and I can get myself worked up by a lot of things.

ThatJadeLion · 05/04/2026 07:32

Should they be out there so early.. no. Would I be so miserable and post ona forum about some over excited little kids at Easter.. no.

Run around your garden screaming and shrieking when you notice them putting their kids to bed. Or an hour later so you definitely wake them up once they are asleep. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Ah another one who asks AIBU when they won't hear of another side.

You can go back to bed then- have a lovely lie in 😉

6am sunrise service at my church.

i haven’t been to it (I’m playing at the 10am) but I expect people are complaining.

it’s Easter.

if I felt shame and guilt every time my kids made a noise an adult didn’t like I wouldn’t have time to feel any other emotions.

ClaredeBear · 05/04/2026 07:34

Ah, it’s just once a year. We don’t have children but we have lots of little ones next door (extended family) and they’re always making a hell of a noise during the holidays but it’s lovely to hear them enjoying themselves. Interesting to see different views though.
