Both the parents outside with the kids, several kids running around screaming at 6.30am. Do people have no shame?

Its what Jesus would have wanted

I doubt even Jesus had risen by 6.30am on Easter Sunday

grlwhowrites · 05/04/2026 08:12

Really rude and inconsiderate. Doesn't matter if it's "only once a year", there's absolutely no need to be disrupting your neighbours at 6.30am with an activity that would be just as "fun" two or three hours later.

My birthday is only "once a year" but I'm sure that excuse wouldn't wash if I held a raging party until 3am and kept my neighbours up till then. Bet all the arrogant "morning people" would certainly have something to say about that.

If you live near other people then you need to be considerate. I work shifts so I'm working today and tomorrow, so it being a Sunday/bank holiday isn't an acceptable reason to abandon basic human decency either bc not everyone is forced to be off work and able to catch up on their sleep.

Pop round and ask if any of your surmises apply to them. Let us know what they say

Seriously I'd love to

Hunting at 6:30am for chocolate is ridiculous.

iamtryingtobecivil · 05/04/2026 08:14

OMG YABU it was once for 5-10 minutes

And no screaming ever. Why the need to scream? I was never allowed to scream outdoors. My parents called it ‘crying wolf’. What if you needed to alert someone? Grin

See this as an opportunity to enjoy your lie in even more. Heave a sigh of relief that you don’t have to get up and look after screaming children, roll over and go back to sleep in your nice warm bed.
It’s only once a year, only if the weather is good, and can’t last for more than 10 minutes.

But if that’s what time your kids wake up and look to see if the Easter Bunny has been then that’s the time

youalright · 05/04/2026 08:15

Its one day let it go

I don’t agree with those saying oh it’s only once a year, 6.30am is ridiculous ! Wait until 9am ! I have two under 3 and would never let them out at that time 🤣

I was a 70s kid so no Easter bunny or Easter eggs. We did have eggs but had to be careful as DB had a cows milk allergy so he wasn’t really allowed them. I think this was also DM’s church phase so we went to church. One memorable Easter we stayed with friends in Essex countryside and just down the road they had a bakery with the most delicious hot cross buns freshly baked from the oven. We ran to and from that shop begging extra money from parents as they were so yummy! 😋

I may be in a minority here. I have young kids…..

firstly I wouldn’t do it. But. 6.30 isn’t an unreasonable time. There’s always noise at that time. Birds/dogs/cars etc. it’s a normal time to get up.

secondly, how long will it last? Ten mins? Certainly less time than it takes to read this thread

thirdly. Kids are probably asleep by 7.30. Would the poster think they’d go in during the summer because of this. Doubt it.

6.30am is not unreasonable to be up with young kids, but it is totally out of order to be allowing them to screech outside at that time. Its really selfish behaviour.

Oh deary me
Have a coffee and a hot cross bun or a stray egg….

Well maybe parents need to set some boundaries then.

I don’t agree with the Easter bunny nonsense, it didn’t exist a few decades ago. We don’t need a second Santa Claus.

LlynTegid · 05/04/2026 08:18

If they had invited you and your children to join, perhaps ok. Not otherwise.

The Easter bunny will run out in front of your car if you get up early to leave for work later this week and you will have to sound your horn when passing their house!

bunnyvsmonkey · 05/04/2026 08:19

My 2dc were out at 7am. It lasted approximately 6 mins. Less time than my neighbour sits outside with their engine chugging for some unknown reason every night at 1am for 10 mins.

crazycatladie · 05/04/2026 08:19

If it’s outside I wouldn’t start it until 9am. My kids can’t play in the garden until 9 I like to be considerate to my neighbours

EdithBond · 05/04/2026 08:19

iamtryingtobecivil · 05/04/2026 08:15

I guess you have to explain to your kids that they can’t go and look if the bunny’s been for a couple of hours as it’s way too early and it’ll disturb the neighbours, who’ll still be asleep.

Then, watch a movie with them. Or bake some cookies.

Of course kids want to do what they want when they want. The job of a parent is teaching consideration for others.

Agreed re screaming. I was never allowed to scream especially in my garden and if I did I was told off. As it should be. Fine in a park or other open space.

School holidays I’m sure a bit of screeching went on especially when sunny. But again proper irritating screaming was a no no.
