Am I overreacting to DH’s April Fools??

This morning DH took the dog for a walk and he came back covered in “blood” and so was the dog. He came back “hysterical” and told me the dog had been savagely attacked by another dog. I was in panic mode and I ran over to next doors as she is a vet to see what to do. When we both came back from hers to the dog, DH says “April Fools” which I (and she) found extremely irritating. The blood he got from the cupboard Halloween storage. I felt humiliated, embarrassed and didn’t find it funny at all. He thinks I’m being a spoil sport!

AIBU? Am I being a wet lettuce or is this too far?

@Cannaebebothered I have a very dark sense of humour - trauma often produces such people sometimes, but this 👆 isn't dark humour, this is cruelty.
I'm sorry for the people in your life that you can't see the difference.

I’m not gullible so would have stuck around long enough to work out it was an April Fools. OP was the fool on this occasion, give him a little dig on the arm for having ‘got her’ and should laugh it off!

You may think you aren’t gullible but why do you condone OP’s husband taking advantage of his wife being gullible?

But it wasn't as though what the OP thought had happened was so unlikely it had to have been a joke was it? It could have been true and the blood real. Why wouldn't the OP have been horrified at seeing her husband and dog covered in blood and the husband seemingly hysterical. You talk about sticking around long enough, but the OP wanted to get help for the dog she thought had been attacked, hence getting the vet neighbour. Should she have just hung around doing nothing? Of course she acted.
