Horrible news that ambulances run by a Jewish charity have been set on fire in Golders Green today.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyj1p49gdpo

AIBU to feel it's got to to with the rise in anti Jewish hate since the allowance of horrible slogans on the weekly marches and in everyday society? What on earth makes people commit such a horrible attack.

I'm 100% with the Jewish community and pray for peace.

This is the blatant anti semitism that many try to deny exists or feel it but hide it.

At least this poster is willing to publicly state it.

People will die because there are now four less life-saving ambulances available.

The Intifada has been well and truly globalised. So congratulations to all useful idiots who have been mindlessly chanting for it over the years, your wishes have come true. Well done. You must be so proud of yourselves. And even if you yourself haven't chanted it - if you have attended events where those words are said you have condoned it. Your actions have consequences, and in this case the consequences of you condoning genocidal slogans are four utterly destroyed ambulances in London.

My neighbour had a suspected heart attack. 999 said an ambulance would take at least 2 hours (sadly not an exaggeration), Hatzolah were there within 4 minutes.

Hatzolah helped save people on Bondi beach in December.

Hatzolah transported my (non-Jewish) neighbour home after a long stint in hospital.

People from my local community give up their time to volunteer for Hatzolah. They are on call day, night and during all the Jewish holidays. They set up regular first aid courses so that more people in the community will know what to do in case of a medical emergency. All they want to do is help people. And this is how they're treated.

I will be donating money to Hatzola today. I hope others who are able to will join me in doing so.

https://hatzola.org/donate/

Thank you. I have donated

It sounds like your outrage is also fairly selective

No-one was being "deliberately murdered" so please stop banging that drum.

Ahhh, so the ambulances were burned as a consequence of.... what exactly?

What does that even mean ?

Please tell me the last time a Jewish person put on a suicide vest and blew themselves up in a tube station ?

What do you think an acceptable context is for antisemitic acts in London?

Tonissister · 23/03/2026 09:23

This is heartbreaking.
What can we do to stop this, to fight back against it?

At least in the 1930s and 40s it was abundantly clear that Nazism had to be stamped out and was evil. The difficulty today is that people see anti-Semetism as fighting the oppressor because of Palestine, so the anti-Semites think they are on the side of the victims.

It's abhorrent. And I am so bloody tired of trying and failing to explain to DC's generation and to many friends my own age why it is not a one-side-bad, one-side-good situation and why anti-semitism is a terrifying and amoral response to the current issues. I am shut down and accused of Zionism. The way people legitisimse it disgusts and frightens me and I don't know how to respond.

Lindos1 · 23/03/2026 09:24

So full of anger at what our country is becoming.
Sick of the anti- semitism.
Keir Starmer is shocked!
We cannot hate our leaders enough.

BlueJuniper94 · 23/03/2026 09:25

This is a dreadful thing to do. But I don't know what people expect when a nation tries to accommodate groups who are participating in the most terrible and bitter conflicts, of course all that suffering will have an impact here. It's awful and I hope a peaceful solution comes soon.

Explain.

What have volunteer Jewish ambulance servicemen and women done to deserve this?

What has the community of Golders Green done to deserve this?

The Jewish community in the UK are not responsible for the genocide in Gaza. People need to realise that.

rosycheex · 23/03/2026 09:26

What I don’t understand are the ‘Why did they do it?’ comments

It seems to me it is due to what the IDF are doing in Palestine or that is the excuse people are using for antisemitic acts.

Why doesn’t someone prominent speak out on behalf of British Jews and say they are not Israeli or connected to what Netanyahu is doing and should not be targeted. Instead people wring their hands (eg Starmer)calling people antisemitic with no context and rail about the rise in antisemitism as if it’s just those evil racist Brits at it again

I am horrified by the amount of hate it would take for someone to destroy ambulances just because the volunteers working in them are Jewish. These people help anyone in their area - not just Jewish people. They do it on their own time, taking that time away from their friends and family to create a better world and this is their thanks. In a time of stretched nhs resources and so much anger this is going to kill people - and not just Jewish people.

(as a Jewish person living in the uk I am paralysed with fear. I want to run but have nowhere to run to so I’m just bracing myself every day.)

I hope your rabbi has told you this, in such a dangerous time, but if denying your religion can ever save your life, God will not be angry. The Jewish faith doesn’t venerate martyrs on the same level the Christian faith does. I understand that it’s probably still terrifying because wtf are you supposed to do - not worship? Not ever gather with other Jews? Not live your life? - but this is a dangerous time and you need to stay safe. Pikuach nefesh includes your own life ♥️ I feel like I’m watching the lead up to WW2 in real time and wondering what I’ll be using our attic for in a couple years. 🤔

Though perhaps more the product of a vacuous head, empty enough to be filled with hate.

So it's the Jews' fault because we are accommodated in the UK? Should we be kicked out? Because of what Israel is doing in the middle east? This is an unsettling post. Very 1492 Spain...

It's too late for me to be secretive where I live now but it's definitely on my radar that maybe we should move somewhere else and just never, ever mention it. Spanish Jews in the 1500s vibe. I don't want to teach my children this until I have to but well aware I might be missing the moment where this is an option.

Um no? I honestly cannot fathom what in my post you have interpreted as "it's the fault of Jews" - that is not what I was saying
