Would you go to Disney world Orlando this year? We were considering booking for us and our 2 children, was meant to book it tonight.
I’m really unsure with the current condition of the world right now.
what would you do?

If you are concerned about safety, you are being a bit daft. It's Disneyland. It's going to be fine.

However, if you are concerned about spending money in a country where the government has literally flushed any sense of morality and decency down the toilet, then that is more than fair enough.

Moveyourbleedingarse · 05/03/2026 18:10

Yes I would go.

We were in the States last month. Life goes on as normal there. I was expecting it to feel weird but I was welcomed as a tourist as I always have been.

The social media thing isn't mandatory.

I wouldn't go. I would rather spend my tourist $ somewhere else. Also guns, ice and bad coffee.

I'd go to Paris, Disneyland Paris and here https://www.puydufou.com/france/en/must-see-france. This place blew my mind as a kid!

Actually the coffee is really really bad in the US. I don't understand it they talk about coffee all the time but it's a totally different drink to what I understand to be coffee in Europe!

ThatPearlkitty · 05/03/2026 18:16

yes, missles can be launched anywhere anytime etc

Lettuce 😂 not heard that as an insult for years. I'm going to use that one 👌

For context, when Liz Truss's premiership started to nosedive, a tabloid livestreamed a head of lettuce to see if it would outlast her. It did.

How is it provocative? It's used for other regimes all across the planet. And his complete disregard for law within his own country is fitting.

And I think you would have to be deaf and blind not to think the Trump regime is hostile to the UK.

Does France have a regime? Does Germany?

A few nasty statements off Trump does not suddenly mean America and their citizens are against the UK.

No I wouldnt

I thought I read that visitor numbers were down for the US although its not clear if that is a political decision by visitors or other reasons

Im not keen to visit Canada anymore either after their position on women.

What position on women? I live in Canada and have no idea about this.

Yes they fully believe a man can be a woman, for quite a sensible (I thought) country they have gone full on in a way that Im quite shocked by, completely captured by it.

Ferrfoxache · 06/03/2026 13:12

NO. I WOULD NOT GIVE THE US A SINGLE BRASS FARTHING. THE LAND OF THE LOONIES NEEDS BOYCOTTING.

Theyreeatingthedogs · 06/03/2026 23:23

WineBeforeWhine · 02/03/2026 21:09

I’m sure Trump will be heart broken. Protests like this are worthless. I say go and enjoy Disney.

Nope. Tourism is important to the US. A boycot is a big beautiful idea.

Well, no. Its Disney World.

Ah, I was thinking of the term wet lettuce!

if you’re travelling from the UK that’s a lot of long haul travel. Environmental impact not a reason either for you then?

Environmental impact is not the slightest issue for me no. I also fly to EU countries about 5 times per year with work plus 3 holidays per year.

Agreed on the coffee. I always take some Costa or Nescafe Latte sachets for in my room during my visits.

Chocolatecrispsandwine · 10/03/2026 20:52

Not a chance and we’ve loved travelling to the US in the past. Given all the outrageous stuff that’s going on I believe that we need to vote with our feet - your trip alone won’t matter but if 1000 families make the same decision then it sends a message. There are also stories of people being detained for no reason. Yes, it’s low risk, but is it really worth it?

WheretheFishesareFrightening · 10/03/2026 21:07

Yes. Already booked. And we went last year, and already planning next year.

I take an aeropress and buy ground beans in Wholefoods when I arrive 🤣

We take filter coffee bags and proper tea bags.

Otherwise for tea you’ll get Lipton’s, which is grim.

jen8556f · 10/03/2026 21:39

We’re off to Florida again this year, would I book it now…um no probably not! But it’s been booked
since last year before things really escalated, kids are excited, so we’re going. We’ve only got so many years with our kids as kids and Florida is special and if we wait for Trump to bugger off it’ll be a long time!

I’m not worried about safety at this stage, but do feel uncomfortable indirectly ‘supporting’ the country.

ACynicalDad · 10/03/2026 22:01

I reckon there will be some good deals on Disney in the next couple of years.
