Would you go to Disney world Orlando this year? We were considering booking for us and our 2 children, was meant to book it tonight.
I’m really unsure with the current condition of the world right now.
what would you do?

OP posts:
dizzydizzydizzy · 03/03/2026 00:25

No. Too many scary things happening in the US at the moment.

JustSawJohnny · 03/03/2026 00:28

Absolutely not.

And not because of the emerging issues in the ME, either.

I genuinely believe the rest of the World should be holidaying elsewhere until the current administration is replaced.

BreakingBroken · 03/03/2026 00:29

I hate the man the American public voted in. The blatant unrestrained corruption and insulting approach to all issues. The massive loopholes in their constitution all I see is stupidity.
It will be a cold day in hell before I step foot over the border.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 03/03/2026 00:31

No, absolutely not.

Another America bashing thread...

I will be there at least twice. I feel perfectly safe there. There is way too much scaremongering going on.

While you're there, watch yourself a bit of Fox News and see what they are telling America about the UK.

Then you'll really know what scaremongering looks like!

If you can afford it of course. Disneyworld and universal are amazing. We went in 2022, I'd love to go back my kids loved every second. The pound to dollar is pretty good at the moment. When we went bloody Liz Truss opened her mouth and it was nearly 1:1. Your not there to intervene in world affairs, your going on holiday. Enjoy!!

If OP is lucky she might bump into Truss in Florida. The lettuce has been seen in Mar-a-lago.

Meadowfinch · 03/03/2026 01:23

No. Ethically, I couldn't be at ease with that.

I'd only go back when Trump is just a bad memory, and not before.

DoingTheBridgertonDancesInTheKitchen · 03/03/2026 01:27

Yes. I was there a few weeks ago and will be going again in a few months.

mondaytosunday · 03/03/2026 02:10

Yes I’m going in about three weeks. I grew up there and my sisters and niece are there and we will be visiting them. It’s a major city but I’m not worried I’m going to be shot. I do not support Trump but I’m not going to let him stop seeing my family. Life continues.
However I have been to Disney World and not sure it’s worth it, and Florida is not anything to write home about. Some people love it though.

Besafeeatcake · 02/03/2026 22:04

Not true. Canadians have put a significant dent in US tourism - about 6 billion dollars. Another 6-40 million lost by other foreign tourists.

Absolutely don’t go.

But on the flip side, a lot of Americans who would traditionally go abroad are now holidaying domestically. Rentals in the Jersey Shore, as an example of somewhere that had a lot of Canadian tourism, are flying.

Zanatdy · 03/03/2026 05:11

No, not going to the US for the foreseeable.

blubberball · 03/03/2026 06:26

No. Not until this regime is over

Northerlad · 03/03/2026 06:32

It is a difficult one. For personal political reasons of course the sensible person would not go. But your kids are only young once and it is a magical experience and why should they suffer because of the leadership of the country. That is what you need to weigh up. As others have said if you are going to the Florida parks it is pretty safe.

I’m sure Trump will be heart broken. Protests like this are worthless. I say go and enjoy Disney.

They are not as each individual adds up. Tourism is down and that’s less outside money funding the wannabe dictator

OrdinaryMoment · 03/03/2026 06:53

No. I have close family living there and would love to visit them, but will not go while you know who is in charge. Thankfully my family is coming to Europe for a visit in the summer so will be able to see them then, in France or here in the uk depending on their plans.

It's not all about scaremongering though is it.

Many on this thread and myself included would not go to the US on the basis of not giving tourism money as someone upthread called it to the country while Trump is in power.

I used to go every year, I will not go back until he is gone.

This.

Strandlover · 03/03/2026 07:24

I wouldn't choose to travel there right now, out of principle, not for reasons of personal safely. Definitely not for a holiday you could have elsewhere . Couldn't you go to Disneyland Paris or Tokyo instead? Or the other European theme park everyone raves about on here?
However I do have a very elderly relative in the US who I feel pretty sad at the prospect of never seeing again, so I might review my principles in time.

HandfulOfMoths · 03/03/2026 07:36

No, I wouldn’t. Not because I’d feel unsafe particularly (I’m white) but because I shouldn’t have to think “I’ll go, I’m safe, I’m white. “ With no US vote I can only vote with my feet and my wallet, and I will not support any part of Trump’s presidency.

Yes just got back from WDW. Loved it . Holiday in the USA every year - different parts . I don’t let scaremongering put me off .

Its not scaremongering. Its about having principles.

Have you stopped using all US products?

I don't use many as rarely eat USFs. I did stop using amazon though. I have done several.boycotts before (South Africa the first).
I also avoid countries with terrible human rights and dictators. Many other places to go.

PhotosOfTheDog · 03/03/2026 08:14

No. And I’ve been trying to avoid buying American for over a year now. Not easy!

PistachioTiramisu · 03/03/2026 08:15

Yes but there's no way I would be going to Disney!
