To think that real life sex isn’t like TV?

After re-watching Bridgerton, am I wrong I thinking people aren’t having this kind of earth-shattering sexy time (I’m looking at you Duke of Hastings…) in real life?! Or have I just been missing out…

I knew this was going to be about Bridgerton before I open it! You're not wrong but it is nice to dream sometimes 😂

ExtraOnions · 01/03/2026 10:50

Well they aren’t going to put a 2 pump wonder on are they?? Nobody is using that as wank fodder.

Coffeeishot · 01/03/2026 10:51

Well yes, but are people actually having this kind of sex in real life?!

It’s always been this way.

Well IRL it sounds less revolting, a sloppy hoover is not a pleasant sound

Auroraloves · 01/03/2026 10:57

I loved this series of Bridgerton

Nothing in life is as it's portrayed on fictional tv programmes because it's fiction. It often gives people impossible expectations of many aspects of life. You need to just think of it as entertainment.

I mean maybe it looks "exhausting" though and not in a good way 😀

Of course. I’m not about to go on the hunt for Bridgerton sex! Just wondering exactly how far fetched it is… are there some of us lucky enough for this to be fairly realistic?!

No i don't have a camera filming nor a director telling us what to put where nor an editor and we aren't actors

duckfordinner · 01/03/2026 11:10

It depends on your sexual chemistry, your lover’s experience and desire to please. Benedict Bridgerton is very good at teasing and building the tension.

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/03/2026 11:30

There's much less farting; "oh my bad hip!"; "ouch, you've trapped my hair"; or kids running in saying "mummy, I feel sick"- for starters.

DancingNotDrowning · 01/03/2026 14:02

the sex is centred around desire, romance and longing.

It’s surely not unusual to experience that sort of sex in the early stages of a relationship, perhaps not so much decades in.

BootsandCatss · 01/03/2026 14:04

I must be really luckyGrin

BrownSharpie · 01/03/2026 14:07

TV sex is unrealistic, you never see them getting hip cramp or doing the post sex cup and waddle.

Real sex is what you make it.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 01/03/2026 14:07

In Grey’s Anatomy, everyone describes all the sex they have with everyone else as “mindblowing”. No one ever seems to just have quick rollover sex that’s just grand and then they go to sleep. They are always ‘up all night having the best sex they’ve ever had’

Oneborneverydecade · 01/03/2026 14:08

I find it frustrating when a woman loses her virginity and orgasms in the same scene. It's decades since I lost mine so it's not fresh in my mind but surely that's unlikely? I don't remember being particularly relaxed.

minipie · 01/03/2026 14:09

In TV sex all women come in 2 minutes flat, often just from uncomfortable looking sex against a wall, fully clothed, with no foreplay.

I think I must be broken 🤔

Oneborneverydecade · 01/03/2026 14:11

Also, in the latest series, when Benedict asked Sophie to turn around in the bath did anyone else think he was going to suggest anal (as a way of avoiding pregnancy)? I'm glad he didn't!

I always feel like a voyeur watching the Bridgerton sec scenes as it is.

that is exactly how I interpreted it… especially given his rather adventurous history! I think it wasn’t clear what exactly he did or didn’t do.

TheABC · 01/03/2026 14:16

With enough build up and foreplay, yes, you can have screaming orgasms. Less likely to happen IRL with a TV crew unless that's your fetish and really unlikely to happen on first go, when losing your virginity. There's a reason why people talk about kissing, petting, 'getting to second base' etc. You need time to get comfortable with it (boys and girls).

Best sex I've ever had involved feeling relaxed, sexy, confident with a partner who looked like he'd won the lottery when I took my coat off.

Worst sex was with the same partner and being interrupted by DD hammering on the door and shouting "I can hear you!" A cold bucket of water would've been more welcome.
