My cousin told me that her 90yo dad watches 'Babestation' (ugh, makes me feel queasy just typing that word).
He asked her to fix his phone at the weekend and she saw he had 572 you tube videos on it, some thumbnail stills showing close ups of young women's crotches (clothed).
She was upset and said she couldn't believe that a man of his age was looking at stuff like that. She also told me (which I didn't know before) that in the 60s/70s he used to go to the pub on work lunch times and Sunday afternoons to watch strippers.
I said I agree that it's gross, but try not to judge him, but she wasn't happy with me about that and she left. She hasn't returned my text messages since then.
I am going to give her a few days to process what's happened, then try to contact her again.
But AIBU to also be grossed out by the thought of my aged uncle perving over young women?

The age thing… you expect or hope people to become more mature mentally as they grow older and less keen to objectify and leer over women old enough to be their grandchildren. It is unpleasant.

Good for him. I wouldn't want to be in your cousin's situation but I don't imagine those interests or urges go just because you're older. He needs to get better at hiding the evidence.

It's nothing to do with leering or objectifying.

Younger bodies are more attractive and pleasing to the viewer.

It doesn't even have to be sexual.

It's just fact.

I'm middle aged and know my body is not as pleasing to my eye or anyone else's as it was 20 years ago.

It doesn't mean I'm worth less or that attractiveness is or should be based on the body or face

Or that sexuality and it's appeal should be based on youth.

And it isn't. Because there are so many other things that make an individual attractive and sexy because of their character and personality.

But line up 50 bodies of someone aged 20/25 and 50 bodies of someone aged 50 or or 60, 70, 80 etc and the younger bodies will always win and be more objectively sexually attractive.

I'm not even 50 now and don't think mens bodies of my age are as attractive as a 25 year old and don't think my body is as attractive as a 25 year old.

I don't find mens bodies the same age as me sexually attractive now. I'm sure that will still be the case when I'm 60, 70, 80 or 90.

You have no idea what harm is happening to the young women involved. You have, in a broader sense, no idea what harm is happening to the perception of women- that they are disposable objects for the pleasure of men.

I would just try and forget about it.
I would hazard a guess all men you know have watched porn at some point. If thry say they haven't then I would assume they are lying.
How often, which channel and what type of women they like to watch is not really your concern. Just as what lingerie you prefer to wear in the bedroom is none of theirs.

It is. However the power balance is entirely different. And there are not huge numbers of young men being exploited for women’s pleasure.

In the 60s, 70s, and 80s strippers in pubs were commonplace, especially at lunchtime on Sundays. There was usually a stripper at the pub we went to most Sundays, and people were so used to it that they mostly didn’t bat an eyelid.

He is not unreasonable to watch porn. He didnt ask your permission, he didnt need it, he probably wouldn't have chosen to have the legal contents of his phoned shared with his niece.

Your cousin is being unreasonable to have shared the contents of his phone with you, and then to be annoyed at you for being disgusted; they themselves are the reason you have the knowledge of his activities; if they hadn't told you, you wouldnt be disgusted.

Accountability for that sits with them.

The younger generations would be shocked at it but this was normal for the older generations.

My mum was a geriatric nurse. There was an old lady in the hospital that liked to go outside on a sunny day. For a few weeks she was very particular about where she wanted to go outside. My mum soon realised she was ogling the builders with their shirts off across the road. My mum joked with her about it and she said "they wouldn't look at me twice these days, but it doesn't stop me day dreaming".

My friend's father had carers at home when he was in his early 80s with Alzheimer's. They would turn up to find him knocking back the wine whilst watching Naked Attraction on his big screen tv.
