My cousin told me that her 90yo dad watches 'Babestation' (ugh, makes me feel queasy just typing that word).
He asked her to fix his phone at the weekend and she saw he had 572 you tube videos on it, some thumbnail stills showing close ups of young women's crotches (clothed).
She was upset and said she couldn't believe that a man of his age was looking at stuff like that. She also told me (which I didn't know before) that in the 60s/70s he used to go to the pub on work lunch times and Sunday afternoons to watch strippers.
I said I agree that it's gross, but try not to judge him, but she wasn't happy with me about that and she left. She hasn't returned my text messages since then.
I am going to give her a few days to process what's happened, then try to contact her again.
But AIBU to also be grossed out by the thought of my aged uncle perving over young women?

Do you see? Things that are exploitative and misogynistic, and used to be legal, can be made illegal. Once, marital rape was legal and normal - it was just the way the world had been for thousands of years. But now it's illegal and considered abhorrent.

Do people not understand analogies? I'm talking about the fact that people are defending porn as legal, as if that makes it okay. Well, a lot of things have been legal in the past, including slavery, that are now illegal. Legality has nothing to do with morality or ethics.

Also, do people not understand the once upon a time, marital rape was looked at in exactly the way you're all treating porn? As an accepted, ordinary part of life, that couldn't be any different? Of course a husband had a right to his wife, etc, etc.

Me: Just because porn is legal, doesn't mean it should be accepted. Slavery was legal once, after all, but we changed that, and now it's illegal and rightly seen as abhorrent.

It depends on your view of porn as to whether it is acceptable, but if you find it acceptable for younger men, you should for 90 year old men.
(If you find it acceptable) it's the best type of creepy. The woman are paid, it's consensual and fairly tame. He isn't stating at women on the street.

The age thing doesn't bother me. I'd much rather him watch babestation, innocent (as in tame and not abusive) porn than watch women on the street or anything degrading.
