Seriously when are they going to ban men from nurseries? I don't care if some other innocent men have to find other jobs.

It makes me feel so sick, I can't even comprehend it.

How many is that now? I'm sure I've seen 3 or 4 articles this year alone. Surely something has to change to protect children who attend nursery.

NotThatSerious · 09/02/2026 16:07

This is why I refuse to send my kids to nursery it’s awful. And this is only what gets reported

PlainSkyr · 09/02/2026 16:09

if I had nursery age children I’d not use a nursery with male workers. Parents need to vote with their money where common sense is missing. Find other childcare, there is no need to spare any poor man’s feelings.

Mikabli · 09/02/2026 16:09

I cant lie i visited a nursery when i was searching for a place for dd and when i went there was multiple male staff and i made a decision straight away my child wouldn't attend. I put her in one with only female staff.

beadystar · 09/02/2026 16:10

I agree. I’m sorry about nice men who have to find other employment but the risk from males is too great. I’d go as far as no males at all and other staff to be in pairs so no one evil is unsupervised with a baby. I would also apply that rule to care homes.

Aliceisagooddog · 09/02/2026 16:11

I posted a few months ago after a similar case in London. This needs to stop. It is one of the worst failures of society to allow this to continue. The irony of our 'safeguarding' culture allowing this is reprehensible.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 09/02/2026 16:12

I never came across male staff while mine were little and in nursery but I would do the same if I were choosing a nursery now.

I suppose the really tough situation is if you have a child in nursery who is happy and settled and THEN a male staff member joins.

HighStreetOtter · 09/02/2026 16:13

I guess in some areas people might feel they don’t have a choice of a female only employee nursery. People locally have their kids on multiple waiting lists. I currently know someone who as things stand might not be able to go back to work next month as no childcare.

or what happens if the nursery was female only but then they hire a man after your kid has started.

those poor kids

Aliceisagooddog · 09/02/2026 16:13

There is also evidence these creeps are organising and encouraging each other to get these jobs. Let's be honest, the pay is crap, and I bet nurseries are desperate for workers.

Aliceisagooddog · 09/02/2026 16:14

How do we organise a campaign to stop this?

Perimeterfences · 09/02/2026 16:14

But at any time a nursery could recruit more, or new, staff.

Because women in nurseries never ever do anything bad 😒

Whocares63 · 09/02/2026 16:19

Evil! Just pure evil. Ban all men from working in these places now. They are not to be trusted. You can't tell a pedo from looking at them. That's the problem

99% of sex offenders in UK prisons are male.

Statistically men are far, far more likely to commit certain crimes.

Of course they do, but you're being deliberately obtuse here. The chances of males committing these abhorrent crimes are astronomically higher.

You only need to look at the current news to see how men behave given the opportunity when they think they have the means to get away with it.

lightningatmidnight · 09/02/2026 16:20

This is horrifying. My 1 year old has been at our local nursery which we previously used with my 6 year old. It’s great but they’ve recently hired a young male staff member and I don’t feel comfortable at all.

Do you understand risk? The vast majority of nursery workers are women, yet in the last year alone there have been dozens of such cases. THE ONES WE ACTUALLY KNOW ABOUT!!
Men are inherently more of a risk to vulnerable groups.

CherryBlossom321 · 09/02/2026 16:20

When are nurseries going to start following their own safeguarding policies that if correctly carried out and observed would prevent most, if not all, acts of abuse perpetrated against the children in their care? No staff member should ever be alone with children, including (or especially) in toilets, yet policies and procedures are not followed correctly or consistently.

Pearlstillsinging · 09/02/2026 16:21

The behaviour is shocking but
Parents need to be aware that women can also mistreat children, in many ways, including sexual abuse.

Parents need to know what ALL nurseries do to safeguard the children in their care, including that there is never an opportunity for a lone staff member to have access to children, for any reason.

Whocares63 · 09/02/2026 16:21

And how did it happen in the first place? Why wasn't safeguarding in place. Why was he left alone with kids. Sack and ban the nursery manager now

I would take action if you are uncomfortable. At the very least make sure nappy changes are made in a public area.

queenofwandss · 09/02/2026 16:22

Disgusting and I agree they should be female only and rigorous checks (and better pay!).

does anyone know what kind of sentence he will be looking at?

They don't. Not like this.

Can we stop pretending that women are just as bad? We simply aren't.

But women post threads asking if they should’ve worried about male nursery staff and are always told they are being ridiculous
