Sorry if I missed a thread, but has anyone else seen this?

It’s fucking disgusting.

I thought nothing this man could do would shock me anymore, how can he still be in office?

I saw it this morning, whoever was our PM wouldn’t survive 24 hours in their job for this! As it’s Trump, guessing nothing will happen

You’re right. This is the saddest part of it all, nothing will happen.

A big proportion of his voters have been circulating memes of the Obamas as monkeys for years now. They'll be cheering him on for this while joking about librul tears.

Meanwhile Trump is busy filling his pockets with money, destroying the US's standing in the world and doing everything he can to distract away from his name turning up thousands of times in the Epstein files.

Echobelly · 06/02/2026 12:35

If the fraud and rape wouldn't make the authorities do anything, this won't either

Bourdic · 06/02/2026 12:37

So far, only Ed Davey has spoken out about it. Come on the rest of you.

Sevenofthem · 06/02/2026 12:38

Hopefully Mother Nature steps in at some point and he reaches his expiration date.

He's still in office because his base like this. It's why they like him. Some people will wail about how awful this is for a while, then go back to their lives. Lots of people won't care at all. Racism is all the rage or hadn't you noticed?

Ohnonononotagain · 06/02/2026 12:49

Totally disgusting.

And all part of the diversionary tactics to deflect attention from his involvement with Epstein.

A prime example of Power Corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

He knows he can get away with anything.

Rewriteitifyoucan · 06/02/2026 12:54

It's absolutely disgusting, and as usual nothing will happen and there will be (racist) posters along here soon enough minimising, excusing, justifying and deflecting.

Why should any of our politicians mention it at all?

It's not our country, not our politics. It's nothing to do with us. Commenting on it just throws more weight behind Trump. The best thing we can do is just ignore him as much as humanly possible.

All that happens if we comdemn it is that it gives Trump another distraction opportunity. That's precisely what he's looking for.

We should never ignore Racism … it should be called out every single time.

PermanentTemporary · 06/02/2026 13:01

It’s diabolical. Literally, he’s demonic.

I agree though that UK politicians shouldn’t necessarily comment. What could anyone say? ‘Your leader sharing a grossly racist and insulting meme about a previous leader is a bad thing’? No kidding. He does it for attention - it’s like being chained to the cage of Hannibal Lecter. We should just take it into account as one of the 100s of things that make his election, twice, so terrible.

ReturnOfTheToad · 06/02/2026 13:02

I just saw this. It's awful, really, really awful. The downward trajectory that society is going down is extremely worrying.

But there's plenty of racism in the UK to deal with.

The constant commenting on the USAs issues just distracts from dealing with our own.

It's not really a USA issue when the man has power and influence that extends across the world. It's not like it's Peter from small town America posting this, it's a man with nuclear weapons at the tip of his fingers.

Nitgel · 06/02/2026 13:09

that's the president of the united states, and nothing can be done to remove him? we're all doomed

…are we only allowed to condemn bad behaviour when it’s without our borders?

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 06/02/2026 13:11

But it is in the sense that its not an issue we can fix. That can only be done by the Americans.

It's not like Keir Starmer coming out and making a statement about it is going to change a single person in the USA's mind about Trump. It's not going to make impeachment more likely, or provoke protests. It's not going to make Trump think "Yeah, maybe I am a twat."

It's just tilting at windmills, and I'd rather he spent the 15 minutes he'd spend crafting that statement on something that might actually make a difference for the people he represents.

PevenseygirlQQ · 06/02/2026 13:20

He is an absolute abomination of a human, why am I not surprised he would do something like this. How he is still in office I will never know.

I really feel for POC in America, what hope do they have with such a bottom feeder in power, backed up by fellow racists and his supporters who will see nothing wrong with this.

He represents people of colour. He represents people who are horrified and offended by racism. He represents people who are concerned about the pernicious and relentless rise of the far-right and persecution of minorities.

Politicians are supposed to have and uphold values. I think it's a worthwhile use of Starmer's time to voice those values. Trump is too far down the rabbithole of hatred and dementia to grasp what is happening, but it matters less what Trump thinks and more what the world thinks. It's really important to demonstrate that racism and the stoking of conspiracy theories by the president is not acceptable to most people. Trump isn't a naughty puppy whose bad behaviour must be ignored; he's a powerful man in a position of huge influence. Those of us who are appalled by everything he stands for need to make that clear, not roll over.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 06/02/2026 13:31

That's fair, but I still just don't really see what it achieves. Are people of colour in the UK really being reassured by Starmer or Ed Davey making a statement on this?

I just feel that it somehow makes Trumps words matter more in some ways.

There are plenty of racist world leaders, we don't comment every time one of them comes out with something racist. But because it's the USA, because it's Trump, we have to comment, we have to make a statement. It just feels like that by doing so we legitimise him. It feels like it makes what he says more important, even when he's saying something utterly abhorrent. (which is most of the time)

I'm just really fucking sick of him, and of the influence he has.

Skybunnee · 06/02/2026 13:37

Did you see the fake rasping cough during a speech which was taking the mickey of Biden’s cancer

PermanentTemporary · 06/02/2026 13:40

If I were Starmer, I wouldn’t make a statement about any egregious horror like this on Twitter. However, id get a press bod to tip off the meeja that if asked, he’d make a brutally rude response about it.
