Sorry if I missed a thread, but has anyone else seen this?

It’s fucking disgusting.

I thought nothing this man could do would shock me anymore, how can he still be in office?

He is utterly disgusting and immoral.

ascenda · 06/02/2026 18:08

A real and successful pot shot is needed. Sorry I am stooping so low by saying that, but I've reached the end of my tether now.

And I know, I know.... look who will be in his place. But I'll take that chance TBH.

Trump's words do matter. They embolden the worst impulses in the worst people. We need to keep saying over and over that this is abhorrent, that it's not normal and that we don't condone or endorse it. However tedious that might get for us and however much we might wish he would just crawl back under his rock and fuck off forever.

If a kid in a classroom makes monkey noises at the black students, the teacher shouldn't ignore it. If a friend at a dinner party refers to black people as monkeys, we shouldn't turn a blind eye. If someone writes racist posts online, a decently moderated platform should delete and ban. If the President of the United fucking States does this and is ignored, why should anyone else who is harbouring racist opinions hide them any longer? What's to stop them from doing the same?

By ignoring this, we make a world that is friendlier to racists and more hostile to people of colour. It's pretty important to me that our politicians aren't ushering in that kind of world, but rather that they are doing what they can, openly and publicly, to fight against it.

i absolutely agree we all need to challenge him and world wide that is recognised. However, if a country does challenge him there will be major tariffs placed against them. So they can’t. If Zelenskyy doesn’t kowtow then he is attacked and his country is in more danger. I mean we all know this. He’s a bully on a global scale. And well. What can be done. Putin, trump, Epstein. Big connections.

InMyOodie · 06/02/2026 18:10

He'll post anything that distracts attention from him raping children and personally profitting from the presidency.

As he says himself, his MAGA supporters are too thick to care.

What does she mean 'lion king'? I wrote to my TDs (Irish MPs) asking for a comment to be made and also that they don't go to the white house for Paddy's. I know it won't make a difference but feel like I have to do something.

They'll be sucking up to Trump in the White House as usual in March, although they're not alone in that. Leaders from countries big and small need to laugh at him for being such a pathetic fucking moron, but they won't.

cocobanana922 · 06/02/2026 18:24

Of course nothing will happen, his supporters will cheer him LOUDER, he's a child rapist and they are cheering for him. The world is fucked.

From the Guardian

The racist depiction of the Obamas – the first Black president and first lady in American history – appears at the end of a one-minute video perpetuating the false and disproven claims that ballot-counting company Dominion Voting Systems helped steal the 2020 presidential election from Trump. The company in 2023 settled for $787.5m with Fox News in a landmark defamation lawsuit.

For two seconds, the video shows the smiling faces of the Obamas superimposed on monkeys bobbing to The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

I really, really hope that Dominion has issued defamation proceedings against Trump. Given the fact that the claims of election fraud have been so comprehensively debunked, surely that's got to be worth a few billion in damages?

I think it’s your useless media to be honest. In most European countries when a leader crosses a serious red line (which Trump has done about 10 times at least) the media as a whole will often come together and not let up until their respective party usually decides it’s not worth the headache and forces them to step down as party leader. While in the US the media is always walking on eggshells around “Mr President” as they have to respect “the office” even when the incumbent doesn’t.

Edited

Surely the time has come for US media to unite in proclaiming very loudly that leaving Trump in post is in itself grossly disrespectful to the office of president.

We should never ignore Racism … it should be called out every single time.

Totally agree.

Sadly, with the rising popularity of Reform, it seems to be getting more common, or maybe just more overt.

He was taken to court for not renting to any africanAmericans back in the 70s. And let's not forget his disgusting full page adverts in newspapers calling for the Central Park Five to die. They were exonerated after another man admitted his guilt.

They were imprisoned for between five and 13 years - but their convictions were ultimately overturned in 2002 after a serial violent offender named Matias Reyes confessed to the attack and DNA linked him to the crime.

He is racist through and through.

First, they tried to make out that he was just posting an extract from a doctored Jungle Book extract glorifying him as King of the Jungle. Then, when they worked out that no-one was buying that bollocks, they withdrew it and claimed that the post had been put up by mistake by a staffer. Because of course when a staffer makes a horrendous error that shows up the President as a repulsive racist, you naturally leave the post in place and depute your sidekicks to defend it and claim that everyone condemning it was a humourless snowflake ...

And there is also the little problem that Trump has said that only he and one other trusted person has access to his Truth Social account.

RosaMoline · 06/02/2026 18:44

Where are the MN posters that defend Trump? One who springs to mind is ringo juice.

And just to add... his Press Secretary Bullshit Barbie AKA Karoline Leavitt - you can fuck right off with your excuses about it. She said it's just from the Lion King and no one is interested and it's fake outrage.

I think Lion King makes it worse

  1. there are no Apes in Lion King (the rest of the clip does have some lion king characters)

  2. you still chose in a meme about everyone else and using apes given the connotations with racist is just utterly utterly ridiculous they were still making a point

it is gaslighting at it highest

I think in fairness whilst 20-25% of Americans are behind him I think there are quite a few Republicans and floating voters who voted for the economic side and never thought it could get this bad

he clearly has to me some form of dementia and doesn’t have a team around him like Mike Pence

but they are also tapping into the US fear of communism/socialism that has existed since the end of the second world war

The democrats as well need to take responsibility moving to the left as far as they have in a country petrified by communism was a bad move and a course they haven’t corrected - they need to move much more to the centre for eh future of the US

I imagine its related to this. Not sure if the link will work but basically an Obama and Trump spat in 2011 where Trump accused Obama of not being American. He (Obama) showed his birth certificate and the talk he gives references the Lion King.

Gotta love Obama for his classy speech and detest Trump for, well, just everything...

I can't see how anyone could fail to see portraying black people as monkeys as racist. Of course it's racist.

Reform? Shockingly 'racist' with their Pakistani Muslim chairman and Egyptian Muslim candidate for London mayor 🤔

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 06/02/2026 13:03

But there's plenty of racism in the UK to deal with.

The constant commenting on the USAs issues just distracts from dealing with our own.

But objecting to racism in the US doesn't stop us from objecting to racism here. It's not an either/or.

WhereAreWeNow · 06/02/2026 19:01

Absolutely @Moen . I thought I was past being shocked by Trump but I was genuinely shocked by this. Despicable.

Sadly, there was already precedence that meant that if you tried to sue the sitting US president then your civil case would be stayed until after he was out of office. The reasoning was that his job was so important that he couldn't have his time wasted sitting in court giving evidence. (There's a large number of people who have suggested that part of Trump's motivation in running for president again was to stay a huge bunch of in-progress and impending lawsuits, Dominion's included.)

There was also precedence that said that the sitting president is immune to a bunch of civil and federal prosecution for what they do while they're in office. That's what impeachment is for, but impeachment is quite vague ("high crimes and misdemeanours") and has a high bar for success. Plus once it was stuffed with MAGA appointees the US Supreme Court expanded the immunity from prosecution quite considerably during his presidency. The US Constitution's checks, balances and norms really wasn't prepared for the kind of outright calculated assault that we've seen since 2016.
