To be bemused by Radio 2 today?

Romesh Ranganathan show with Sally Traffic messing around and just talking all the time and not playing music? I don't want to listen to them chattering away as if there's no audience.

Trevor Nelson, Liza Tarbuck, Bob Harris and Jo Whiley ❤️.

Apart from them it’s 6 music or R4.

What other ways are there of getting traffic news when you are driving unless you are using Google maps?

I find at least 80% of all radio presenters on any stations irritating tbh. Elaine Paige has to be one of the worst. I've never listened to Romesh Ranganathan, but he's certainly been quite annoying when I've seen him on tv. I can stand Absolute Radio for a bit sometimes, but I mostly listen to Radio 3 or 4 these days and otherwise put Spotify on.

I find I’m listening to Radio 3 Unwind a lot these days. It’s gorgeous.

Listen to a different station or put spotify on it.Sounds like these people are not for you, but that doesn't mean they are not good to other people. This is really a non complaint. Because all of the options are in your hands.

Really can't stand any interaction Richie has with anyone. To.me his laugh is false and he sounds false. I feel disloyal as I am a proud Brummie. Liza Tarbuck I love now I'm in my 50s. When I was younger I thought she was rubbish. Vernon sounds like he lays on thick 'ey up' northern routine for me. Jo Wiley annoys me. I like Trevor Nelson and Sara Cox I tend to listen to Romesh. Trevor and Liza on catch up. Can't stand Paddy. Dermot- meh. Been flitting between a 60s radio station and radio 2

I cannot stand that Sally traffic woman. Has spent years trying to build her part droning on about tosh.

I turn off the radio when Romesh is on, his ego is mahoosive! His stories about himself and family are neither funny nor interesting. He doesn't seem to have any special interest in music. Not sure what he has to offer when there are many better DJs out there who would do a better job.

I can't listen to Romesh. Radio 2 are really dumbing down on their presenters. I now switch to BBC sounds and I can listen to what I want. I stick with BBC as I can't abide adverts.

I can't stand her show so was relieved it was somebody different yesterday.

I only listen to radio 2 whilst in the office which is only once a week now. It seems either one person has decided on that radio station or it’s been picked as a happy middle ground for everyone in my team to listen to.
It never bothered me previously (except Chris Evan’s, he really irritated me) but now I find it absolute waffle and drivel.

It's meant to be a debate rather than a complaint.

I remember the days of the real DJs, 60s-70s as the best for loads more music and virtually no chat. Radio Caroline and Radio Luxemburg were the best radio stations if you could pick them up on your transistor radio. Never heard them droning on about their families, their hobbies or opinions. 🙄

Stopped listening to radio 2 ages ago. I now switch between stations and have discovered other presenters and programmes I much prefer.

I think they’re both funny, love the show.

I must say I don’t understand the Sally Traffic thing, all the DJs she works with try to make her a part of their show, and she’s just not all that entertaining. I’m sure she’s lovely but not interested.

Bit like trying to follow the Riche Anderson model of making the traffic and travel person a DJ in their own right.

Lisa Tarbuck - I like her presenting/DJing but she picks terrible music so I can’t listen.

I love him. He seems like he’s got such a sweet, gentle nature and is hilarious. Please nobody tell me he’s horrible in real life.

I was thrilled when Trevor Nelson took over from Scott Mills who thankfully is on early in the morning when I don't listen to the radio at all.

Now I disagree with you about Lisa Tarbuck and music, I love her choices, so different, but she herself not as much, she's a bit too wacky!

Sara Cox drives me nuts, it's like a kid's show. She talks like she's on Play away.

Emma Willis goes on about her husband a lot.

I prefer a balance of 80/20 music and chat.

Richie Anderson is a DJ in his own right though, not a comedian or anything. Rob Becket was shocking!

Yes, but because of the unique way the bbc is funded, we are all paying obscene amounts to hear this drivel.

It's not rocket science and I don't know why so many posters are acting thick (just put on Spotify).

Let me spell it out.. Most of us enjoy a little bit of warmth and banter from a dj between songs. It humanises it and makes us feel less alone when driving or home alone or whatever.

A lot of us don't enjoy 'celeb' djs talking shit for absolutely ages just to hear the sound of their own voices.

BBC needs to get their house in order.

I find the same issue when Rylan does his show! Love Rylan but sometimes it feels like he's just chatting amongst his mates and talking about in-jokes and laughing with Sally Traffic and the other lady. Seems to play very little music! Don't mind Romesh for a small time. Vernon - no. Sarah Cox - love her. Weirdly I really liked Trevor Nelson on his late slot but find he's a bit cocky and mean to Richie on the afternoon show?
