If anyone is observing the carnage in Minneapolis.....

Guardian is running a live feed, and a good unbiased source is Agenda Free TV on YouTube also running live feeds from the streets there.

Obviously multiple versions of events being thrown about as it's very fresh.

Sending solidarity across the pond to any US Mumsnetters in the locale and protesting the awful actions of ICE and disregard of your constitution by the "President".

Honestly. We’ve had Americans wanging on at us about being the land of the free for decades. Criticising other countries for what they see as infringements of free speech. Blathering on about their constitutional rights - and here we are. Openly saying it’s not safe to protest against the illegal acts of a government. Don’t speak up. Stay quiet.

That isn’t what freedom looks like.

Please learn the difference between protesting and actively interfering with ICE operations.

I already said that he wasn’t doing anything that warranted shooting him. I know you may not have read that post, but my feeling is that protestors should not be allowed to interfere with ICE operations for both their own safety and the safety of others.

Moving forward, protestors should actually just, you know, protest instead of actively interfere and obstruct.

Yes i did read that but i also read your continued justifications though, just as you did over the Renee Good murder.

ICE came for the woman protesting, they went for her, A. Pretti went to protect her, they executed him.

Just as they did with Renee Good

From you and others, its just a series of non stop excuses... diversions etc etc.

Please learn the difference between protesting and actively interfering with ICE operations

^...& still you carry on excusing murder.

Renee was being reckless and drove towards an agent. You know it. Even if you believe she was trying to flee (without her wife?) she had three people on three sides of her car. She could have knocked down and dragged any of them, and she did hit the man in front

OK. Educate me.

What was the woman that Alex Pretti was helping doing to actively interfere with ICE operations?

We have all seen the videos.

Are your eyes broken?

Protestors should watch ICE knock women to the ground and pepper spray them, when that woman WAS just standing there and protesting?

Bow down and lick the boots of your oppressors.

Horrific - how anyone can rationalise that as legitimate and proportionate is beyond me!

Aethelredtheunsteady · 26/01/2026 07:28

I can vaguely understand people voting for him back in 2016. He’s a character, Clinton had a lot of baggage, wanting something new and having faith in the fact that there were proper adults in the room. I think you’d have to overlook a lot of sexism, racism etc but republicans have been doing that for ages.

I can’t understand voting for him in 2024 - after his response to COVID, the first round of locking people in cages, his concentrated effort to overthrow the election including inciting a riot, the fact that he literally said vote for him and you wouldn’t have to worry about voting again, his fraud conviction, project 25 etc

I definitely can’t understand coming on here to defend him and his administration now. Cutting USAID, threatening allies, threatening to invade sovereign territory, nonsensical tariffs, repeated attempts to throw Ukraine under the bus, the actions of Hegseth, refusing aid to democrat states, gutting women’s health, making healthcare more expensive, cover up of the Epstein issue, the constant lies and now advocating for the shooting of protestors in the street and arresting 5 year olds.

@Gloriia , @Walkden et al - you’re claiming you’re not Trump supporters but here you are, online, schilling his administration’s party line.

The ICE agents disarmed and then exterminated an American citizen and the government have clearly indicated that they don’t care.

What do you expect Americans to do now?

No she didn’t hit anyone and her wife was trying to get back in the car when she reversed away from the situation but was shot in the face at point blank range. Had Becca been in the car you can bet they would’ve shot her too.

But why let the truth get in the way of victim blaming eh?

Has anyone saw the BBC breakdown of it?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20zjyxep99o

It shows what the U.S. government are claiming against a breakdown of the actual video and clear as day we can see the gun was removed from Alex and then he was shot around ten times.

It’s absolutely reprehensible and scary how they’re trying to gaslight their citizens.

He was literally trying to defend a woman who was being pepper sprayed. They’ve lost a good one while very evil men continue to walk around in masks terrorising people. I usually say dividing people into good and bad etc is reductive but honestly these masked ICE agents are rotten to the core.

Have you listened to the aftermath video where someone was shouting that they’d killed Alex and one of the ICE agents replied “boo hoo”? They are the scum of the earth.

Well, at least you ve changed from your previous views that she tried to kill him.

ICE murdered her and Pretti, neither shooting was justified... we'll have leave the Renee Good killing to one side now, there were 3 plus threads on it.

The Pretti killing is even more disturbing, here was a man, restrained, weapon removed, then shot multiple times, with the very real danger of shooting other agents too.

I'm really struggling with how anyone cannot just condemn that outright, instead this constant stream of excuses....

Either the ICE agents are completely out of control or just following orders and either option is horrifying.

Never said she tried to kill him. Because her intent never mattered. She recklessly drove towards him and as far as police shootings go, it’s justified (as he’s not a mind reader)

Seriously - can they go any lower?

So it’s clear they deliberately recruited some of the worst of humanity. Absolute bottom barrel human beings.

It’s actually chilling.

You just know they’ve been desperate to shoot ‘a lib’ and finally saw their chance knowing their president would be on their side.

These agents probably don’t think of themselves as bad people. They can’t all be psychopaths but people can justify things to themselves and maybe they think they are culture warriors. As we can see there are posters on here who imply that these people deserved what they got and the administration is also supporting that. Poorly trained and unaccountable men with power and weapons, what could possibly go wrong? It’s also a worry about the safety of women and children in those facilities because they are usually the first to be abused in these kind of scenarios.

This all started because ICE pepper sprayed a woman filming them. She was stood way back, not being aggressive. Just filming them. How was that stopping them operating safely?

Although fair play in saying that you voted for law enforcement to be able to shoot innocent citizens in the street. Finally some truth.

They were on a road and she was hardly driving fast until she lost control after being shot.

Why would he not just step aside and take down her registration details if he thought she was wrong ?

It’s not like he was stopping a school shooter or something!

Have you never had a car drive towards you on a carpark or a street or anywhere else? Not once have I thought oh I wish I had a gun to shoot them.

How about ICE operate within the US law and stop murdering protestors?

Migrants can be deported, protestors can be dealt with in non death ways.

Everyone happy, shame you continue to victim blame.
