If anyone is observing the carnage in Minneapolis.....

Guardian is running a live feed, and a good unbiased source is Agenda Free TV on YouTube also running live feeds from the streets there.

Obviously multiple versions of events being thrown about as it's very fresh.

Sending solidarity across the pond to any US Mumsnetters in the locale and protesting the awful actions of ICE and disregard of your constitution by the "President".

You didn’t read the question….. when ICE went in to round up illegal immigrants, there was no tear gas, there was no pepper spray. Antagonists were on the streets as soon as ICE stepped foot in Minneapolis. They’re not there to protest anything other than stop illegal immigrants from being removed. Does that help you comprehend the point I’m making….? Hope so, because it’s tedious having to repeat myself. Of course what’s happened since plays into their agenda.

Yes, your repetition is tedious. I comprehend what you’re saying, you’re just wrong.

Minneapolis residents, local leaders and politicians have all reported multiple times that ICE were immediately antagonistic on their arrival with Project Metro Surge.

And of course that has been evidenced by the fact that they’ve shot three people since their arrival, two of whom fatally.

Do you know how many people the Minneapolis PD shot in 2025? I’ll help you out. The answer is zero. Minneapolis Police Chief, Brian O’Hara, confirmed in an interview that although they took 900 guns from people during that time, they managed to do it without shooting anybody. Whereas ICE… well…

Don’t worry about being tedious, we appreciate the opportunity to reply with the actual facts, each time 😊

The amount of conspiracy level nonsense being spread around is wild.

DeepBlueDeer · 26/01/2026 01:16

I'm still waiting for a single poster to attempt to explain why the Attorney General is making access to voter rolls a precondition to ICE's withdrawal, btw.

Its almost as if:

  • the plain and obvious explanation is that ICE are there not to enforce immigration laws, but as an act of intimidation by the Federal government, designed to attack the integrity of the midterm elections (and beyond); and

  • nobody can even attempt to dream up an even a vaguely plausible justification.

I’m surprised they haven’t popped up to tell us it’s because Homeland Security just wants to help keep it nice and updated 😆 Because they’re so kind.

You think that this month was the first time ICE started using tear gas and violence? They've been doing it all year, all across the US but particularly in blue states.

Livelovebehappy · 26/01/2026 00:12

The irony. When the Republicans were accusing the Democrats of rigging the voting machines when Biden got in, apparently Trump was unhinged - it was impossible to rig the machines in anyone’s favour. He was lying. Yet here we are accusing the Republicans of doing the very same thing that was dismissed when it was flipped in the 2016 election.

Everything that Trump and (MAGA as a whole accuse) the Democrats of turns out to be a confession of what Trump has done.

Trump himself has boasted that Elon tampered with the machines in Pennsylvania.

"I’m sure his defenders "- ,

As I posted earlier "Trump is fickle, unhinged and rambling" that's hardly defending him

You really think this man is capable of bringing down American democracy? 😂

He is wrecking America.
Destabilising the economy with his tariffs and mass deportation policy.
Destroying the USA's international reputation and alliances.
Cutting food and medical benefits to American citizens.
And he's unleashed a lawless militia who assault, abuse, kidnap and murder people with impunity onto the streets.

Putin has suceeded where the Soviet Union failed. Trump was his WMD. America is fucked!🫣

The laughs are far and few between in this situation, but it was funny earlier this week when Rachel Maddow couldn't keep a straight face reporting on what Republican Congressman Glenn Grothman accidentally admitted to in the congressional hearing about former special counsel Jack Smith’s Donald Trump investigations. He basically said that DT knew full well that he didn’t win the 2020 election.

He only realised what he'd admitted to when Democrat congressman shouted out 'we agree!' So funny! Here if you fancy a laugh too:

But to your point, absolutely, they're like Homer shouting 'D'oh!' after everything they say.

In terrible times like these, humour is one of the ways we can keep ourselves fighting.

So I invite everyone to enjoy these clips of ICE being defeated by ice:

I had the opportunity to emigrate to USA years ago. Had a job and a work visa, I am so thankful I decided to come back to UK. The chaos and terror has escalated so fast, I have good friends and family there and I am so scared for them.

Love it! They chose the wrong people and the wrong city! Not that any city would be the right one for what they're doing.

I'm so sorry. I have family and friends in the UK that are saying the same things (I'm in the US) and it's a horrible situation for everyone.

To prove our point of telling on themselves, the White House posted this:

DdraigGoch · 26/01/2026 02:55

I've just watched Devin Stone's reaction to what has happened. An experienced lawyer who is usually professional and composed as he explains legal issues in the news.

He was fighting back tears.

rainingsnoring · 26/01/2026 03:11

It's absolutely appalling.
I've just watched Scott Bessant's response to this in an interview and that is also appalling.
Who are the 14% voting YABU, I wonder.

It was so sad. The bit where he's talking about how Alex Pretti's last words were 'are you ok?' to the woman he was helping. I just... yeah.

Also, that he's a lawyer and how unequivocal he was about what he saw. No 'alleged' - that it was an execution.

I cried and subscribed after watching him . I don't normally watch his legal stuff, but it was good to know that there are so many lawyers working for free to help those caught up in all this.

I don't even want to say what his response made me think. He's worse than Trump in a way because he is actually very smart. Trump is clearly a very damaged individual and not stupid but not particularly smart.

I agree that Trump is not smart, in fact he's quite stupid, and declining from even there at speed.

But what he is, is cunning. He is vain, thin-skinned, egotistical and purely focused on what he can get for himself and nothing else which is what makes him so dangerous.

He is the very definition of a fairy-tale king, truly the emperor with no clothes which is why it would be hilarious, if not horrifying, that so many people fell for it.

I agree with most of that. He is a narcissist, with an ego the size of a planet. As you say, he is only interested in what he can grab for himself (see Trump Meme Coins as soon as he took office and shady deals being done in the ME).

I'm not sure I find it horrifying that so many people 'fell for it' though. Many intelligent, v educated people genuinely thought and quite probably still think that his approach is better for the US economically. Some wanted tax cuts. Some agree with his tarrifs and protectionist policies. Some were hoping that he would do less war mongering abroad (clearly that hasn't worked out!). Some agreed with his tough approach on immigration, when the Dems had let in millions during their recent term. Some of his policies definitely made sense from the perspective of an American. Of course, he has rather changed his tune after the first few months and so has lost a lot of support already.
As a character, I still find SB more sinister somehow. An intelligent evil person is more frightening than Trump.

I find it pretty horrifying that anyone voted for him after the Capitol riots tbh.

I hear you. I think there are a number of different 'camps' of voters for him. None of whom have any excuse at this point.

I agree that the intelligent people behind him are scarier. He's a battering ram.
