Obviously multiple versions of events being thrown about as it's very fresh.

Sending solidarity across the pond to any US Mumsnetters in the locale and protesting the awful actions of ICE and disregard of your constitution by the "President".

I do rate Agenda Free, they keep up with things in real time without the pundit input.

I've seen footage from both sides of the road now. The one taken by the woman in the pink coat shows very clearly that he wasn't even getting in the agents' way, he just tried to help up a woman who they'd shoved over.

Variety of things - mostly to some sort of removal centre that is designed to be cruel and uncaring where people are dying due to not receiving medical care they need for existing conditions or deteriations in health. Then they are being flown out, not always to their countries of origin I think and not unseldom to countries they countries they have no memories of living in. The 'system' often loses track of people and families can find no information.

Given the latter, I suspect a not insignificant number of women have been sex trafficked. Because can you imagine some of the sort of men who are ICE agents and criminal gangs not seeing the 'business opportunity' here?

Not seen the video but from other incidents I’ve seen videos of the Ice agents just seem like thugs. A lot have been hired very recently with minimal training or background checks I believe. So rent a mob with a “licence” to terrorise people and beat them up and kill people. Knowing their president will ensure there’s no prosecution no matter what they do.

A friend in the US has just shared a post on FB that appears to show the ICE agent who "disarmed" the victim discharging the weapon into the ground. It's a still, so treat with appropriate caution, but speculation is that it might be an attempt to prove the gun was fired and that the response was therefore justified. I remain sceptical unless proven, but also very very cynical.

I believe that DHS has claimed that the murderer was an experienced officer, who had been with them for eight years. Jonathan Ross (the man who murdered Renee Good) had been with them for ten.

Yes. It’s been going on for months all over the US. They wear masks, they have no warrants or ID, they drive around in vans and scoop up anyone they suspect of being illegal and kidnap them. Relatives aren’t informed, the person doesn’t get to call home or see a lawyer, they just get sent off to a camp somewhere with no due process at all. It’s an utter violation of basic human rights and it’s mind-blowing that it’s been allowed to happen in a democratic country..

Seems to be routine "clearing" of a weapon. You obviously don't want to risk leaving a round in the chamber so you fire it in a safe direction.

On Royal Navy ships we had tubes filled with sand to fire into in the event that we had a round in the chamber, and a clearance drill was done every time that the weapons were issued and returned to the armoury to "prove" that they were not loaded, even when we hadn't taken any ammunition out anyway.
