Help us solve a family debate!! If you don’t serve chips what is the best side dish for a quiche?

Salad, but why are you eating quiche in winter? It’s a summer food

Eh? Tell that to the supermarkets.

Salad! Jacket potatoes. Coleslaw

This

LookingThroughGlass · 23/01/2026 19:18

Serve what you like with it! I like coleslaw with quiche.

Are you confusing a quiche and a sausage 😂

Nope, baked beans and chips here. Im northern though I think the food is heartier up north.

billiongulls · 23/01/2026 19:19

We always have it with baked potatoes and salad. Double carbs are delicious. Chips would be great too

bcski · 23/01/2026 19:27

I'd have a salad with a quiche lorraine.
Chips are good too though!

TheClocksFast · 23/01/2026 19:28

Chips AND salad!

LowdermilkPark · 23/01/2026 19:29

Salad, coleslaw, beetroot.

KatiePricesKnickers · 23/01/2026 19:32

Baked beans.

patooties · 23/01/2026 19:32

Salad slaw jackets and in summer jersey royals

RumJerrySailorRum · 23/01/2026 19:34

Always salad.
NEVER vegetables
Some sort of potato.....either, new, boiled, salad or chips!

SquigglePigs · 23/01/2026 19:34

I prefer new potatoes and baked beans.

If I liked salad I'd probably go for that though.

Dragonflytamer · 23/01/2026 19:36

Chips is the universal side dish. There is nothing that you can't serve chips with.

BigFishLittleFishy · 23/01/2026 19:39

So I’m not alone with the chips - glad it’s not just me! I like the idea of adding beans too! I never thought of serving with salad or coleslaw as I see it more as a pie, rather than a salad food.

Its winter therefore the law says you must serve the quiche hot

In serving it hot, you cannot have salad

You could have coleslaw, dont ask why, it just is

You can have chips, or mash, or new potatoes

A jacket potato, not quite

Baked beans if you are having mash. Not with coleslaw

Preferably home made so that you have a much deeper quiche than shop bought which are always too shallow. If you must have shop bought, put them on top of each other so you get double quiche. Lovely

Does no where sell cheese flan anymore by the way?

Chips and beans.

I understand the salad comments but I am firmly team chips and beans. It’s how we had it for dinner growing up and it’s how I’d have it now.

ETA I understand the salad comments for a nice summer lunch….

I can make you a proper cheese flan @soupyspoon - the portions are square and everything. You can have it with beans, and your choice of potato.

TomatoSandwiches · 23/01/2026 19:56

German hot butter and herb potato salad with a green salad, mustard vinegarette...... quiche it is for tomorrow then 😂 I wouldn't have chips but I wouldn't judge if I saw it on the plate.

Oh god. I hope its deep and browned on top. Phwoar!!

RaininSummer · 23/01/2026 19:59

Salad and coleslaw. Chips is way to atody with pastry .

PermanentTemporary · 23/01/2026 19:59

Salad. I don’t do double carbs.

Egglio · 23/01/2026 18:46

😂 no it's honestly what we have! I think a 80s school dinner hangover?

I think we did have this at school in the 80s, you’re right!

Seems bizarre now though

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/01/2026 20:01

I would also say salad and coleslaw.

Although I always forget I don’t like quiche that much, unless homemade, and I can’t be arsed to make it!

OriginalUsername2 · 23/01/2026 20:01

Baked beans and salad. And a bit of coleslaw.
