To wonder if past trauma was a factor in the Renee Nicole Good murder and that, while not absolving agent, it shows ICE should select agents more carefully?

Reading this from the BBC, I wonder if the agent was suffering from previous trauma. They had earlier been in the Iraq War and then had huge number of stitches after being dragged by a car while arresting apparently a 'child sex offender' illicit migrant last March.

Thus I wonder if, because Renee Good clipped them with the car earlier(as The Times indicates), shooting at her car as she drove past was less a rational decision borne from evil and more an instinctive reaction from recent trauma with cars on the job?

This is NOT an excuse. But I wonder if it also shows that ICE are selecting traumatised agents who are too dangerous, due to this, to be in that position?

Person wearing tactical vest leans toward a car with shattered rear window, broken glass visible, trees and houses in background.

ICE agent in Minnesota shooting was dragged by car in June

The officer was injured in a separate case that also involved a car pulling away during an investigation.

The fact they have an legal asylum claim proves different.

Do you feel the same about South Africans?

No, during the Biden years, anyone could claim asylum after illegally crossing the border. Didn’t matter how credible the claim was …

Whereas Obama generally kept them in a facility and tried to process the claims quickly (and reject most), Biden scrapped the whole thing and allowed them to live in the community. The ‘catch and release’.

They could then get work permits and make money while waiting for their asylum claims to be heard. You can understand what an incredible pull factor this was and millions of South and Central Americans flooded the border to take advantage.

You don't believe in the legal system then?

That's a loaded question based on some incorrect assumptions.

I think that the legal process should be followed.

I think the inhumane, brutal illegal actions of ice should be taken seriously and challenged. Obama removed more illegal immigrants than this Trump regime, and he did it legally, humanly and without fuss.

What ice is doing now is against the American constitution and needs to be stopped. I can't comprehend how you can continue to defend this.

Obama did the right thing and processed claims at special facilities.

Biden allowed them to live and work in the community, which is why we are having this issue in the first place

The father and son will probably be denied asylum by an immigration judge at the facility and sent back to Ecuador. Is this not the right outcome?

We can just as well process their claims at these facilities. As we did during the Obama administration

Obama didn't send masked armed goons after people to take them to these centres.

ICE used to be unmasked with ID on display

They went to an emergency room seeking help for their 7 year old child.

ICE arrested the 7 year old and her parents.

the family is here legally.

They are asylum seekers, so they can now have their case heard at ICE facilities, just as under Obama.

They came in late 2024 via the CBP app, so they could have given up their asylum claims, got exit money and free plane fare. Now they’ll get nothing.

Reading the story, she had a nosebleed. Why would you go to the ER for a nosebleed? People complain when the ER is filled up, but never ask themselves why. This is why.

They were not doing anything illegal, they should have stayed in their home whilst going through the case system.

yeah, but leftists weren’t trying to shoot and kill them at that time.

They are from Ecuador and are very unlikely to have any basis for asylum.

The bar for asylum is quite high, in their case, the parents must show that they have been specifically targeted by their own government.

So you agree that people who take the legal route and illegal route should both be deported

fair enough

RingoJuice · 24/01/2026 13:22

bemoresloth · 24/01/2026 13:18

They were not doing anything illegal, they should have stayed in their home whilst going through the case system.

We can opt to hear their case at a dedicated facility as well, this will be faster and as most claims are ultimately rejected, deportations can go more quickly. No need to drag this out for years (and why do you want that outcome?)

Somewhere between 14-20% of cases are ultimately accepted after all. Most fail.

Asylum seekers from Ecuador will not have a high rate of success. Whats the point of prolonging the inevitable?

This, while the photo comes through it shows the NHS saying when to go to A&E with a nosebleed

My friend took her son to the hospital, it needed to be cauterised as it just wasn’t stopping…yuck

Gloriia · 24/01/2026 13:40

'does everyone in your circle have the same lack of empathy, humanity and understanding as you, or are they as aghast at your blind following and defence of Trump, Ice and his inhumane policies as I am?'

This isn't meant an attack? Do you ever reread what you post?

Ringo has patiently and actually politely challenged and corrected all the nazi hysteria. They seem to know a lot more than some of the agitator cheerleaders on here.

"Ringo has patiently and actually politely challenged and corrected all the nazi hysteria. They seem to know a lot more than some of the agitator cheerleaders on here".

There has been no nazi hysteria. (Way to try to belittle women while you are here).

There have been factual historical events posted, and comparison made with ice.

I know you find facts difficult.

No idea who is a man and who is a woman.

There has been lots of nazi hysteria. Even goebbels got a mention.

I dont find facts difficult <isn't that 'belittling'? Confused>

ICE attacked an observer after they tailed a group of clergy on a spiritual pilgrimage.

Our digital producer @sam.vp just so happened to be with the clergy on their journey. He spoke with the observer who was attacked and others who witnessed the assault.

Let’s wait for the facts to come out on this one.

However this is interesting phrasing:

"I was observing the ICE agents as they were bringing out those two young men," Vermie said. "And then they started moving toward the vehicles to detain them and they were pushing people on the sidewalk where I was and then an agent approached me and told me to move back and attempted to push me and I didn’t let him."

… attempted to push me and I didn’t let him … 🤔

…. an MJ journalist just happens to be traveling with this group? What a coincidence 🤨
