No. I would find that very boring. A takeaway every Friday.

When it comes to eating out/not doing meals ourselves, we have a Chinese or Indian takeaway maybe every 2 months. We also go for pub lunches, and sometimes Maccies, Toby Carvery, Morrisons Cafe, posh restaurant, chip shop... we like to mix it up a bit.

I would find 52 Chinese or Indian takeaways a year (one every week) crushingly tedious and dull. It would feel like a chore eating it if I had it every Friday.

Oh we never have it delivered either. We live out in the sticks, and the food would very likely be cold by the time it gets to us. They take an HOUR to deliver to our village after you order it. (Even though it's only 4-5 miles!) We can ring our order through, to be ready in 20-25 minutes, and then drive to get it (takes 13-15 minutes to get back. So it's not freezing cold by the time we get it!) Plus, some places don't deliver to us anyway

Had maybe 3 takeaways in the last 18 months. Chinese is always a let down and I’m so thirsty in the night. Indian was slightly better but not worth the cost.

We are having ready made pizzas as a treat tonight - which in my mind counts!

It’s just very expensive, and the food isn’t often that nice. The couple of times we’ve done it, it arrives cold. I suppose it depends what you call a takeaway, though. Fish and chips on the beach at the seaside is lovely.

I think it definitely depends on the area too.

I live in London and we're spoiled for choice when it comes to local restaurants.

The competition keeps the prices sensible too.

Can’t afford it.

FcukBreastCancer · 09/01/2026 14:58

Got a Chinese nye and it was over £80 for the 4 of us. One portion leftover. So takeaways are going to be limited for me! Rather eat out if that's the cost.

FollowSpot · 09/01/2026 14:58

Never did.

Never saw the attraction really. Except for occasional fish and chips. If I am spending money for food cooked elsewhere I'd rather eat out.

But you enjoy your takeaway OP!

Teddleshon1 · 09/01/2026 15:00

The handful of times we’ve had a takeaway I’ve been shocked at how expensive it is. I would far rather just cook something quick and easy.

bumblebee1000 · 09/01/2026 15:04

No. we prefer the waitrose indian meal dinners...often on offer...4 items for £10, very nice.Last time I looked at a menu for take away it seemed expensive now. However now have two sets of new neighbours opposite...2 young couples who have breakfast lunch and dinner delivered...non stop bikes dropping off food..no idea what they do...never leave the house!

FuzzyPuffling · 09/01/2026 15:05

Maybe twice a year.
Too expensive and unhealthy.

Bombinia · 09/01/2026 15:06

No. We used to but we stopped being able to afford it some time ago. Now it's just occasionally.

GreggWallace · 09/01/2026 15:07

no way.
££ and grim

Berlinlover · 09/01/2026 15:08

I’m with my partner for over 5 years and we’ve never once had a takeaway, we eat out fairly often though.

TeaRoseTallulah · 09/01/2026 15:10

About twice a year here if that.

Farticus101 · 09/01/2026 15:11

No. I do eat out more than I used to though as I am always out and about and never fancy my homemade lunches.

If I do get a takeaway, it's got to be Thai/ Malay or something else I can't replicate at home.

AnnaFrith · 09/01/2026 15:11

Ohhohoho · 09/01/2026 13:58

We used to but stopped for a bit as I was on a holiday diet. Now whenever we get a takeaway I find I feel awful afterwards, almost like I have a hangover. So now we only really get one on special occasions.

I wish DH liked sushi as would happy get sushi delivered every weekend.

Same. It's the salt, makes you really dehydrated.

Probablyshouldntsay · 09/01/2026 15:11

Not in about 10 years 😬 but every couple of weeks I go to town on naice picnic things and chocolate from m&s. I think I’m in the minority but I don’t really get excited to eat and don’t really think about food.
doesn’t mean I’m healthier as I’m crap at meal planning and remembering to cook so end up eating cereal or protein bars way too often

Emeraldiisland · 09/01/2026 15:12

Usually have one a week but we also have a lot of choice. Probably have one tomorrow night, not sure what though.

MrTwisterHasABlister · 09/01/2026 15:26

I’ve not had one ALL year 😇

We usually do but I've been having a lot of acid reflux so I'm going to give up dairy and spices (first) so I've bought a lovely Cook beef bourguignon for us tonight.
We will still have a film, though, and it's my turn to choose.

luckylavender · 09/01/2026 15:35

No. We had one on NYE (unusual) and will sometimes do birthdays.

CNDflag · 09/01/2026 15:44

We’re having fajitas tonight but made at home.
There are a couple of amazing takeaway places near us (S.London), but they are £££ so maybe only get one as a treat once a monthish.

I totally get the excitement factor though OP, as I also get very excited by food.. especially if I haven’t had to cook it!

blankcanvas3 · 09/01/2026 15:47
