Schitts Creek Do Not Want GIF by CBC

Sit down, binge eat and watch, put your feet up, get the dildo out, whatever you need to do but gosh, don't go for a walk!

If you think i am being unreasonable, i am judging you 🥰

We enjoyed a long walk Christmas morning. After dark we had a walk around the village looking at all the Christmas lights. Such a shame that so many families were sat indoors and missing out on the Christmas light displays.
Just saying.

I miss seeing all the parents out with children with brand new bikes or dolls prams . . . . this used to be a regular sight on Christmas/Boxing Day when I was a child in the 1960's.

On my street, saw one little girl trying out her new bike woth what looked like her gramps, a little lad with his dad doing the same and another little one on on one of those chunky trikes 🙂

For ‘get the dildo out’ you are now my favourite mumsnetter OP.

Chinsupmeloves · 28/12/2025 20:07

With a dog it's not an option to hibernate so go for walks every day.

Totally hear you... My DPs are OBSESSED with 'going for a walk'. Dont get me wrong, I have no objection to walking per se but walking for no reason when (a) it's Christmas, (b) it's cold and (c) it's Christmas? HARD NO!!

TidyCyan · 28/12/2025 20:56

I went for a run by myself this morning as DS7 won't leave me alone (4 adults in the house, only me getting "Look, look, mummy look, look"). It was glorious.

Blarn · 28/12/2025 20:57

I walked round IKEA today.

Nobumsonthetable · 28/12/2025 21:26

I walked the dog and went for a 9k run 😁

countdowntonap · 27/12/2025 22:56

Eh? I walk after every meal all year round. Great for the digestive system and general health.

Do you not work? How do you have the time?

SereneCoralExpert · 28/12/2025 21:31

You are right.

That's why we go on Christmas runs. Kids lead the way on their bikes. Walks are boring. I was invited to Christmas wild swimming, but I am too wussy.

BoarBrush · 28/12/2025 21:34

I keep seeing groups of people walking by my house, and wondering what's wrong with them? I've not left the house or been dressed since the 21st. I've not even walked the dog once, dh does 3 times a day and dd (mad fucker) has taken him up the hilly forest a few times.

It's fucking brilliant

whyaretheylikethis · 28/12/2025 21:35

Boxing Day walk where I live is the ‘thing to do’

I can’t even pretend I didn’t cuz I did 🤣

I am a regular walker due to having a dog but I haven’t frequented the park I went too on Boxing Day since the summer 😱

absolutely FULL of walkers and their dog!!

Konstantine8364 · 28/12/2025 21:53

I didn't walk on Xmas day, but I did go to the stables in the morning and take my horse out for a little hack, then did a decent hike on boxing day. I've also eaten my bodyweight in food 🤣 you can do both!

BooBooDoodle · 28/12/2025 22:29

We have dogs and older kids. Once the kids have opened gifts and had breakfast, DH and I walked our dogs. About 9am and got home an hour later to see to the rest of the day. We walk 2-3hrs a day. DH has autism and I’m plagued with perimenopause and my anxiety is off the scale, even more so at this time of year. It’s a win win and levels us out. Fresh air and exercise because we walk quite fast to get our heart rates up.

BlackForestCake · 28/12/2025 22:32

People who've been eating brussels sprouts need to get out into the fresh air.

ManyPigeons · 28/12/2025 22:57

I love a Christmas walk. What you’re likely misunderstanding OP is that when among some families it’s far nicer to be out walking and talking about what you can see and the animals and fresh air and nature etc than sitting inside with them ranting on about the worlds most boring health condition or their holiday photos for the 60th time.

Also… I just enjoy moving.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 29/12/2025 08:07

Young border collie and small child disagree with you. If we stay in, the house gets destroyed!

Willowy2 · 29/12/2025 08:13

Christmas day park runner over here 👋

I also went for a brisk boxing day walk by myself listening to an audio book and was getting annoyed at all the slow big groups of family walkers getting in my way 😅

Mumto2at · 29/12/2025 08:17

dogs don't want to just chill!
plus it's nice to escape the chaos for a little bit.
not a full on trek though lasting hours.
though some people don't have anyone so why not go for a long walk

ChopstickNovice · 29/12/2025 08:20

OP your GIFs are making me howl.
Honestly I would have LOVED to stay inside on Christmas Day but I find if I don't get out for a walk on lazy days I get headachey and grouchy. It's really annoying!

Givemeausernamepls · 29/12/2025 08:25

My kids are at their dads next year for Xmas and I have decided I will run 10k next Xmas day!!

(I can’t currently run 10k either so a bit of a challenge!)

Kindling1970 · 29/12/2025 08:54

I have a bad back so have to walk every day to help it. I also feel like shit if I stay in all day.

i can’t stand this culture we have in the UK where we sneer at people who aren’t lazy slobs who love showing off how much they eat, drink and how little they move.

why not save your judgement for people who are doing something destructive to the world?

GloriousGiftBag · 29/12/2025 09:06

I love our family walks over the holidays.

We have dogs so someone has to walk them everyday but I love that it becomes a family experience during the holidays. We go to different places and make sure there's a cafe or treat to encourage the kids too.

We have done a lot of TV watching, board games playing and new book reading in our PJs so don't need worrying about. We have also been out for a family walk every day!
