Schitts Creek Do Not Want GIF by CBC

Sit down, binge eat and watch, put your feet up, get the dildo out, whatever you need to do but gosh, don't go for a walk!

If you think i am being unreasonable, i am judging you 🥰

Surely those getting their dildos out would be Christmas wankers?

I miss seeing all the parents out with children with brand new bikes or dolls prams . . . . this used to be a regular sight on Christmas/Boxing Day when I was a child in the 1960's.

Even 90s and 00s I remember this! It hasn’t occurred to me that it had stopped but now you mention it I’ve only seen 1 child on a bike since Christmas.

Oh, they are the best dogs, I’ve had terriers all my life. Some are much more laidback than my current one, so fingers crossed 😂 Totally worth it even if you do get a mad one with no off switch.

I’m picking the “calm” one out the litter. Pray for me 😆

Wintersgirl · 27/12/2025 23:03

I'm probably being really thick but what's wrong with a Christmas walk?

LikeNoYeah · 27/12/2025 23:03

I might be up for a stroll closer to New Year’s Eve, but I absolutely agree with you, OP! Walks on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and even the 27th are wrong. While there is still trifle to be eaten, I’m in my stretchy pants watching telly!

(I’m going to do a bit of gentle yoga at home tomorrow to prepare my body for actual Walking, which will happen at some stage soon..but not yet) 😆

ThatMintMember · 27/12/2025 23:02

I'm with you! I've never ever gone on a walk on Christmas Day. I like to stay inside the house in my Christmas bubble not seeing anyone but my family haha.

Proud Of You Yes GIF

In a mumsnet full of christmas walkers, you and i are sane 🙌😄

Maybe you’ll get one like mine who came complete house trained at 8 weeks - not a single accident! Good luck with the pup!

I have a young terrier so if I want to relax, theee walks it is, Christmas or not. Besides, the Christmas dog walks are the best of the year because there’s hardly anyone else around to spoil it!

Where are you for that to be true? On Christmas Day our walk was surrounded by dogs in Christmas jumpers, dogs with Santa hats, bow ties, crocheted Christmas puddings. I've never seen so many festively dressed dogs in my life.

Clockyclockz · 27/12/2025 23:06

I have done a lot of sitting, watching tv & a load of eating. Did do a walk on Christmas Day day & today though.

As long as they aren’t pavement hogging weaving slow walkers it is fine.

Lake District which is a bit of a dog haven, but when I was out, I barely passed a soul, let alone loads of dogs!

FarmersWifeOf30Years · 27/12/2025 23:07

If you do go for a walk, best go to the loo first or you'll be like the woman in our field today, seemingly oblivious to me, pulling down her trousers and pants and squatting down and then leaving her used tissues behind. Nice.

OriginalUsername2 · 27/12/2025 23:07

I’ve never understood the Christmas walk either. If it was snowing I might do it, but it’s the same out there as any other day. Boring!

Clockyclockz · 27/12/2025 23:10

i need the walk to help make room for more food after the walk!

Dagda · 27/12/2025 23:11

My DCs are like crazy feral kids if they don’t get a run outside for a bit. I also can’t sleep and feel like I haven’t woken up properly.

I think the sitting around, binge eating and drinking just feels better after a long walk. We also have a dog.

xAwaywiththefairiesx · 27/12/2025 23:12

My absolute favourite Christmases were the two separate years we took our kids out on new bikes on Christmas morning.

We taught them both to ride on Christmas day. I can still hear my son shouting "I'm doing it!! Im doing it!!" And the sheer joy on his face.

The first time with my son, someone actually pulled over and said seeing us had made her day.
The second time, when we taught my daughter, she said it was hest Christmas ever and still says that.

It might not be a "walk" in the sense you think but we were out, as a family, with our dog, and the memories were unforgettable 🥲

So I will go on walks and 😝 to what you think

I wouldn't be walking anywhere if it was snowing. I used to enjoy a walk on Christmas day and Boxing day when I was able to.

😁

We can do all that and go for a walk! Evening buffet tastes so much better when you're feeling virtuous after getting some fresh air. Please don't tell me you're one of those skanks who spends all day in your pjyamas!😯

Gunz · 27/12/2025 23:12

I have a dog so go out every day. I have lived in my village for over 30+ years. I can absolutely guarantee you will get a bunch of walkers out Xmas Eve, Boxing Day and NY day. You never see them the rest of the year - I do wonder why they dont bother the rest of the year.

Redcabbagefarts · 27/12/2025 23:14

I feel stale and stiff after a couple of days of sitting around. Need some of that fresh air.

Boiledbeetle · 27/12/2025 23:18

I'm so not the type of person that goes for a walk, or if I'm truthful would even consider it, that I assumed the thread was going to be something awful that the crisp company had done! So I'm totally with you OP!

wannanamechange · 27/12/2025 23:26

I walk the dogs every day, but I hate it at this time because irritating groups of people are everywhere in bobble hats. It’s a mystery to me. Where do these people come from and why aren’t they out walking at other times of the year? Why do they all wear bobble hats?

Noooo, I have a little outdoor cafe especially for walkers. I’m depending on Christmas walkers to come and buy my hot chocs and cake.
