Schitts Creek Do Not Want GIF by CBC

Sit down, binge eat and watch, put your feet up, get the dildo out, whatever you need to do but gosh, don't go for a walk!

If you think i am being unreasonable, i am judging you 🥰

I think most of the walkers either have a dog or are on their way to the pub on Christmas Day! Personally I prefer to stay at home.

MichaelmasDaisiesAndAutumSunset · 28/12/2025 07:37

So keen am I to avoid my family I’m walking my mum’s dogs as well as my own 🤣

I hope you are walking them separately for maximum avoidance! 😂

SeriousTissues · 27/12/2025 22:58

Didn’t walk Christmas Day but been to the gym four days this week and been on three walks!

Same, I only missed Christmas day. I hope I'll still be this keen next Christmas!

We dont have a dog nor go to pub, shock horror

OneLilacHare · 28/12/2025 09:30

My 2 year old received a scooter for Christmas. If you think that she would wait until the next day to try it then your children are far more patient than mine.

Our Christmas 'walk' was at snails pace to the park along the road where she decided that the thing to help a beginner understand steering and balance was to go on the steepest possible slopes of the skate park.🙄😂😜🤕

2 days later she can now mostly steer and go fast enough to turn a walk into a run.

itsthetea · 28/12/2025 09:32

I love walking and it helps me eat more and makes me feel good. No dog. No pub. You don’t have to come.

FruitWordSalad · 28/12/2025 09:36

11 weeks of no walking so far (thanks broken leg) and I'd give up all my presents AND Christmas dinner to go for a walk right now. In fact, I'd scythe down anyone in my way with my crutches to get outside in the hills.

ConnieHeart · 28/12/2025 09:37

That's ok, I'm judging you for your post. I'm not sure why walking on Christmas Day is a thing to judge though

I miss seeing all the parents out with children with brand new bikes or dolls prams . . . . this used to be a regular sight on Christmas/Boxing Day when I was a child in the 1960's.

It's cos everyone's in their pjs! (See other thread lol)
We didn't go out this year but when kids were young we would always go out with bikes/scooters/whatever the new toy was.

I don’t judge but I definitely don’t want to go for a walk on Christmas Day! Even the dog was happy snoozing on the sofa. But I wonder if that’s because we do a shitload of waking generally so a Christmas Day walk wouldn’t really be a novelty or anything unusual or a special sort of occasion. Whereas for some people it sounds a bit like an ‘event’. Plus we would have to get dressed. And no way would the kids want to be torn away from toys. We try not to do bikes etc for Christmas because a new outdoor toy in the winter in the north of Scotland isn’t always the best idea and makes for a very disappointing gift for a young kid if the weather is bad.

I did go for a run on Boxing Day though so maybe I’m just as bad.

Wheelz46 · 28/12/2025 09:52

I mean I would prefer to spend the full day in the house but the dog has other idea's.

I think it would be frowned upon if I let him go for a wander out on his own! 🤣

Jinglejells · 28/12/2025 09:53

TerrierCharmer · 27/12/2025 22:55

I have a young terrier so if I want to relax, theee walks it is, Christmas or not. Besides, the Christmas dog walks are the best of the year because there’s hardly anyone else around to spoil it!

Number 1 reason I would never get a dog. 😅

TheGrimSmile · 28/12/2025 10:39

mumofoneAloneandwell · 27/12/2025 22:57

Three walks? A day? Each day?

This is standard for anyone with a dog. Come rain or shine. It's a bloody pain sometimes but at least it means I am forced to do some exercise every day.

Number one reason I have a dog. I hate the idea of going to a gym, it would bore me senseless. Walking a dog is the best workout and I get to watch wildlife at the same time.

rafeal · 28/12/2025 10:51

I sprained my ankle on the 23rd so have done exactly as you say OP. Great to begin with but 6 days in, I’m bloated, cupboard mithering and feel like I’m farting so much I will blow myself into 2026 two days early.

Today I shall walk.

AzureCats · 28/12/2025 11:07

I'd be hanging from a noose in the bathroom if I didn't leave the house every day so 🤷🏻‍♀️ judge away.

Ginmonkeyagain · 28/12/2025 11:13

We walked 10 miles on Xmas day (and Mr Monkey went to parkrun before that). There was a pub visit half way round.

I can't not walk every day, I'd go mad and seeing as we don't have a car leaving the house involves at least some walking. I think the last time I had a day when I didn't leave the house was early 2022 when I had to isolate with covid - I almost went crazy with boredkm and oent up energy (it was symptomless covid so I didn't even need to rest).

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/12/2025 11:15

Where we were staying there were 7 kids aged 2 to 10, and a dog, who all needed exercising!

On the plus side, a good walk means you can stuff your face that bit more with roast potatoes, chocolates, etc.

Rantymare · 28/12/2025 11:18

I went to the gym on Christmas day morning! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
although don't panic too much, I was in the pub by 11:30 .

Edited

Indeed I am! One of her dogs is injured too so I have 3 separate walks to do. I could literally spend dawn to dusk out of the house if careful 🤣

Thingscouldntgetanyworse · 28/12/2025 11:25

28th December today. Still haven’t left the house. Going strong 😂

Exactly. If people like the OP want to stay at home they can. Why are they self important enough to think their judgement is relevant to other people? Surely people just do what suits them?

3 walks isn't necessarily standard. Our Labrador has two good walks a day, and is asleep for most of the rest of the time. Those two walks are rain or shine though, I agree with that bit!

ByronKoala · 28/12/2025 11:52

We started taking our golden retriever out for a Christmas morning beach walk a few years ago and it has genuinely become one of my favourite traditions. I love bumping into the other families with equally excited DC & dogs, everyone is always so happy and there’s a lovely, almost magical atmosphere in the air.

Used to be a stuck indoors all Xmas eating in front of the TV family.. now I can’t imagine anything worse!

MySilentLions · 28/12/2025 14:18

I have to walk to be able to poo to be able to eat more nice things. It’s a necessary evil for the greater food, I mean good. Grin
