Schitts Creek Do Not Want GIF by CBC

Sit down, binge eat and watch, put your feet up, get the dildo out, whatever you need to do but gosh, don't go for a walk!

If you think i am being unreasonable, i am judging you 🥰

I'd love to go for a walk on Christmas Day, but whenever I suggest it to my family they look at me as though I've sprouted an extra head.

I saw a couple out in hiking gear at 10am Christmas morning. I judged.

In hiking gear?! Good god

I imagine they had a 'lean' christmas 😭😭 with lots of veg and a 'christmas salad'

A whole day inside?!!!?!!? With my family???!!

Give that a try and you’ll be joining us on the Christmas walk! 😂

So keen am I to avoid my family I’m walking my mum’s dogs as well as my own 🤣

Toastersandkettles · 28/12/2025 07:38

I own a border collie. If we stayed in all day it would be anything but relaxing!

Justbreathagain · 28/12/2025 07:43

I went for a dog walk on Christmas evening. After family visits. Left my DH and DC at home and had an hour to myself, listening to a podcast and checking out all the Christmas lights. It was a nice hour of peace

We've done 6 mile walks every day since Xmas Eve. Glorious sunshine although 3 degrees and a biting wind.

I'm walking to & from church today as the bus service is rubbish ~ 45 minutes each way. I need a good walk after all the panettone I've eaten!

Ah no.
if you’ve had a decent walk Xmas morning you can eat everything with impunity afterwards.
If they had backpacks they might of course have been carrying a picnic. This may blow your mind but some people do that and do their midwinter feasting on a different day.

SleafordSods · 28/12/2025 08:01

I live very near a beach and there are a group of cold water swimmers who swim there every Christmas Day! Brrrrrrrrrrrr

Girasoli · 28/12/2025 08:04

Haha DS1 got a new football and goalie gloves for Christmas. Poor DH had to take the boys to the playground Christmas morning (it was freezing and empty).

(I used the time to get out all the fancy glasses, general tidy of wrapping paper etc)

FourForksSake · 28/12/2025 08:23

4-miler blast along the coast path in the sunshine, and rewarded with a gorgeous sunset over the water. Glorious.

Anxietyspiral · 28/12/2025 08:34

I bloody love the christmas walk! And parlour games, King's Speech, all the Christmas clichés.

As a kid I would spend most of Christmas hiding under my bed or fleeing to the neighbours for safety as my parents got drunk and high. Violence was pretty much a guarantee every big occasion. Now my dc have the nerve to complain about my 'boring' Christmas activities! I'm tempted to crack open the vodka at 7am and show them what a really shit Christmas is like....

I must be around a wrong crowd because every time I go for a "walk" it's to smoke weed with the cousins.

Solidarity with the dog walkers on this thread, it’s still 3 walks a day whatever the day is (I am a cockapoo owner). Boxing Day was 4 walks as my nephew came round and wanted to potter out with the dog as well as the usual times.

Iknowdino · 28/12/2025 08:38

🤣🤣 We walk every day and don't even have a dog. Went to parkrun yesterday and for a walk and the gym! Also ate my body weight in chocolate and leftovers! Off for another walk today. The weather has been particularly lovely lately.

Screenager · 28/12/2025 08:40

I normally go for a walk on christmas day, but spent 4hrs this yr putting a trampoline up in the garden! 😅

For some this year that was a seriously bad idea.Sad

I grew up by the sea, there were some redoubtable ladies of a certain age who’d swim throughout the year including Christmas Day though afaik not if the red flag was up.

Mrscharlieeeee · 28/12/2025 08:55

i walked Christmas Day and Boxing Day but we have a dog, probably wouldn’t have left the house otherwise. My Boxing Day walk is my favourite, I get out around 9am and go to a local country park, just me and the dog. There’ll be a few people there but not many as technically it’s closed so you can’t get in the car park and all the facilities are shut. Once I’m back home have a guilt free afternoon on the sofa and always feel better for getting some exercise and fresh air.

Hmm

I have decided that

I approve - so long as its a short walk, not to enjoy nature but to engage in debauchery 😌😌

I live about 500m from the beach (English south coast) and we have a group of women of a certain age who swim every day, unless it’s rough/stormy. I saw them on the beach on Xmas Day in Dry Robes with flasks of hot drinks. The sea was a lot calmer here than it was in Devon where that Xmas swim ended in disaster this year.

Don’t say that, I’m picking a terrier puppy up tomorrow 🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈🙈

Welcome to the chaos 😂 Teething, toilet training 💩… good luck out there. That said, once you make it through the puppy madness, it’s absolutely worth it. My 19-month-old Norfolk Terrier provides daily comedy.

Oh 🥺

I am glad you have managed to give your kids the christmas you deserved - how tough growing up in such circumstances

You are pardoned from my judgement 😄🥰

Have you tried being inside with small (autistic) children for more than a couple of hours? 🤣
