Aibu to cancel order from fox hunting supporting company?

I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s a first world problem but we ordered our kitchen from Neptune. The shop was close by, the styles were what fits the house and the people selling were cooperative.
To my surprise, I opened socials today to find out, that they support fox hunting with those stupid costumes, horses, dogs and all the pretentiousness. Seriously, Neptune think that the Ultra high networth people will go for their products instead of bespoke or some other eye watering expensive brand like Clive Christian or Officine Gullo hence the support? And when I commented it, they delete my comments.
Am I wrong to cancel my kitchen as I have time to do it.
I’m not one of those totalitarian vegans but a blood sport like this in 2025 in Britain?

YANBU. I don’t understand why fox hunting is still a thing. I live in the countryside and since hunters still use hounds, animals are still killed during their so called trail hunts.

IndolentCat · 27/12/2025 09:05

No, their values clash with yours, in that case it’s not at all unreasonable to prefer not to support them. Do tell them why you’re cancelling the order, though.

Followthesunshine · 27/12/2025 09:05

I'd cancel as if I had the kitchen fitted I would in the back of my mind always associate it with something that wasn't in accordance with my beliefs.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/12/2025 09:08

Not wrong. Your choice.
I stopped using Northwest Airlines because they imported monkeys for scientific experiments (as did Air France at the time).
I don't suppose they cared though.

billysboy · 27/12/2025 09:08

Neptune are only posh Howdens so I would cancel based on that

QueenofLouisiana · 27/12/2025 09:08

Very reasonable. I wouldn’t be comfortable with the idea that my money was going towards supporting hunting in this way.

Shadowdax16 · 27/12/2025 09:09

Your argument is valid, their values don’t align with yours, but I think referring to it as ‘stupid costumes, horses and dogs and all the pretentiousness’ undermines that.

I follow (and am a customer of) Neptune’s.

I’ve not seen anything pro fox hunting on their instagram. 🤷‍♀️

It was in their page of the official house they have in Ludlow. Neptunebythegeorgianhouse

When I ordered a kitchen not from Neptune, but the other one that’s mentioned frequently had to pay in full. I mean you can cancel but I suspect you’d probably lose rather a lot of money
As per their terms and conditions

MinorEarthMajorClouds · 27/12/2025 09:20

I haven’t seen their socials, but could they be opposing Labour’s plan to ban trail hunting? From what I’ve read trail hunting doesn’t involve purposely hunting live animals but allows for all the centuries old traditions around fox hunting go ahead. Seems reasonable to oppose that ban to me.

Ordered 3 weeks ago for the new year. But I have 28 days from delivery I was told to cancel.

Of course you can cancel but why do you need your principles to be validated by strangers? That suggests to me that they aren't very strongly felt

Yes I would cancel and let them know why, they might not care, but it might give someone at the company pause for thought. I have cancelled order/accounts with companies that don't align with my personal values i.e. Lush, Netflix..

3 weeks ago, for after Xmas. Would you like me to give you the shop as well. Maybe my address? My NI number?

Why would someone lie about it though?

I wish I'd used them now.

Of course you're not unreasonable.

We vote with every pound we spend.

If someone's values clash with yours, do not do business with them. And I will say this whether I agree with your stance or not, and whether it's £1 or £100k.
