Aibu to cancel order from fox hunting supporting company?

I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s a first world problem but we ordered our kitchen from Neptune. The shop was close by, the styles were what fits the house and the people selling were cooperative.
To my surprise, I opened socials today to find out, that they support fox hunting with those stupid costumes, horses, dogs and all the pretentiousness. Seriously, Neptune think that the Ultra high networth people will go for their products instead of bespoke or some other eye watering expensive brand like Clive Christian or Officine Gullo hence the support? And when I commented it, they delete my comments.
Am I wrong to cancel my kitchen as I have time to do it.
I’m not one of those totalitarian vegans but a blood sport like this in 2025 in Britain?

Why would someone lie about it though?

That’s what I was thinking. OP can just post about not supporting a business that supports fox hunting.

Echoing other posts, I would cancel too. You want to feel good about your kitchen so don’t get out if you have doubts.

3 weeks ago, for after Xmas. Would you like me to give you the shop as well. Maybe my address? My NI number?

I will need your credit card details, please. For verification 😜

They've posted a picture of the town center with their office in the background. Ludlow has a Boxing Day hunt, a trail hunt, which leaves from the town. It's tradition.

I am sure they probably posted as a aside to show what's going on in the town.

It does not mean they support fox hunting, which is illegal if you don't know.

I am sure the post was taken down as they received lots of froth from people like you.

Clartzilla · 27/12/2025 09:36

That's a screenshot of them posting about something noteworthy happening outside their shop? Is there more to it or does anyone commenting on it with anything less than condemnation end up on your naughty list?

Me too. 🤷‍♀️

Ooodelally · 27/12/2025 09:41

Definitely cancel and be sure to tell them WHY. Thank you for taking a stand!

MargoylesofBeelzebub · 27/12/2025 09:50

Trail hunts still end up with dead foxes because the hounds can get on the scent of a fox and go for that. Then the hunt throw their hands up in faux naivete like "whoopsie we killed a fox". They also gallivant across the countryside with little regard for anyone else, their dogs can end up on main roads and in other hazardous conditions. The dogs are often not cared for properly. All for a bit of jolly good fun. There's a reason people want to ban it, it's just normal fox hunting dressed up as innocent - absolutely barbaric.

I think a comedian one pointed out if a group of lads on a council estate got together with their Staffies and hunted down squirrels people would be rightly up in arms but because a bunch of well to do people do it in costume on horseback in the countryside it's somehow OK.

after hearing all the hype about Neptune, I went to look for a new kitchen. So very disappointed, shop was filled with nicely arranged bits that could be bought from John Lewis, no imagination or creativity. Ended up getting a bespoke kitchen built by a local carpenter for 3/4 of the price.

tuvamoodyson · 27/12/2025 09:56

Why are you asking if you are being unreasonable? Don’t buy if you don’t want to…🤷🏼‍♀️

ElBandito · 27/12/2025 09:56

I wouldn't say their post shows a lot of 'support' for fox hunting. It's more like a 'look what was happening outside our door today'.
Do they have other posts about hunting? Do they give financial support to hunting. Do the owners go hunting?
I can't be arsed to check out their socials etc further and if you don't want to buy from them now then don't.

RosesAndHellebores · 27/12/2025 10:38

Presumavly everyone on this thread who opposes fox hunting also opppses boxing?

Salvadoridory · 27/12/2025 10:48

Im not bothered about that particular cause but I would definitely not use a company that aligned with actions I do object to. Its not really worth getting in a lather about though. I hated Lush for years, mainly because they stink and partly because of Plane Stupid terrorist group. But I really like their Veganese conditioner and they have redeemed themselves with their support for Palestinians so I have let the plane stupid losers go. Its all fairly hypocritical at the end of the day but it makes us feel better.

EmeraldRoulette · 27/12/2025 10:49

Before I say anything, I don't have an opinion on fox hunting. Whenever anyone says the word on Boxing Day now, I just think of the kimono clad lawyer 😂

@RosesAndHellebores congratulations on winning "false equivalence of the day" with that bizarre straw man, and it's not even 11 am.

@Henrysmycat I don't know anything about this company, but I wonder if they were just putting that up for "on this day" history item, like social media filler on Boxing Day.

it's amazing how much poor PR skill gets displayed on social media these days. It is screamingly obvious that it would damage anybody's brand. If it causes you hassle to cancel the kitchen, I would actually check first. I'd be surprised if a company happily declares support of something so controversial.

Bombinia · 27/12/2025 10:49

Cancel and tell them why. Post on socials to say you are doing it and tag them, and email the CEO.

They need to know, and be accountable for their support of animal cruelty.

It was in their page of the official house they have in Ludlow. Neptunebythegeorgianhouse

Can you provide a link?

This is what I mean, its all about selfncongratupation anyway and what makes us feel virtuous. Otherwise people wouldn't be posting whilst wearing knickers stitched by cruelly treated children thousands of miles away, eating meat from slaughterhouses crueller than a hunt dog would have dreamed of and so on. I am a vegetarian but wear leather handbags which are resulting from the same cruel, mocking, pain and humiliating deaths in the hands of really hateful people. We are all hypocrites.

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/12/2025 10:54

Stick to your ethics. I haven’t set foot in Lush for years after they accepted large donations from the league against cruel sports. I’ll keep Neptune in mind if ever I need a kitchen personally.

NormasArse · 27/12/2025 10:55

MinorEarthMajorClouds · 27/12/2025 09:20

I haven’t seen their socials, but could they be opposing Labour’s plan to ban trail hunting? From what I’ve read trail hunting doesn’t involve purposely hunting live animals but allows for all the centuries old traditions around fox hunting go ahead. Seems reasonable to oppose that ban to me.

Trail hunts often lead to foxes being ripped apart because they don’t control the dogs adequately. They’re all ex hunters, so it’s a bonus for them.

Unless foxes are being to compete in boxing matches, I am not getting the link here?

NormasArse · 27/12/2025 10:56

I won’t buy from Boden for the same reason.

I do, but I’m wondering what your link is.

Boxers have a choice; foxes do not.
