Aibu to cancel order from fox hunting supporting company?

I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s a first world problem but we ordered our kitchen from Neptune. The shop was close by, the styles were what fits the house and the people selling were cooperative.
To my surprise, I opened socials today to find out, that they support fox hunting with those stupid costumes, horses, dogs and all the pretentiousness. Seriously, Neptune think that the Ultra high networth people will go for their products instead of bespoke or some other eye watering expensive brand like Clive Christian or Officine Gullo hence the support? And when I commented it, they delete my comments.
Am I wrong to cancel my kitchen as I have time to do it.
I’m not one of those totalitarian vegans but a blood sport like this in 2025 in Britain?

Their story still has a Hooray Henry type older gent shown at a hunt and telling us what the ladies like.

Trail hunts still end up with dead foxes because the hounds can get on the scent of a fox and go for that. Then the hunt throw their hands up in faux naivete like "whoopsie we killed a fox". They also gallivant across the countryside with little regard for anyone else, their dogs can end up on main roads and in other hazardous conditions. The dogs are often not cared for properly. All for a bit of jolly good fun. There's a reason people want to ban it, it's just normal fox hunting dressed up as innocent - absolutely barbaric.

I think a comedian one pointed out if a group of lads on a council estate got together with their Staffies and hunted down squirrels people would be rightly up in arms but because a bunch of well to do people do it in costume on horseback in the countryside it's somehow OK.

Excellent post - thank you!

It really does, the sabs follow every day and film everything. If it really was just business as usual with a new name, as Liam on Facebook comments claims, the prosecution rate would be through the roof.

They absolutely are not able to film everything - especially when meets are held during the week when most sabs are at work. I know as I’m a sab contact.

gerispringer · 27/12/2025 12:42

There are hardly any prosecutions for animal cruelty when we know it’s a daily occurrence. Why people can’t just enjoy riding their horses through the countryside and getting together in the pub afterwards without all the dressing up and packs of baying dogs beats me. I bet a high % campaigned against the ban on fox hunting/ hare coursing etc. yes cancel the kitchen OP good for you.

You said ‘no law is never ever broken’ actually.

They don't support 'fox hunting' which has been illegal in the UK for sometime.

They were speaking out in support of trail hunting, which is different. Yes some use it as a smokescreen for illegal fox hunting but most don't.

I went hunting yesterday & there was definitely no foxes chased or killed.

Today I've been out on our local heath & witnessed at least a dozen out of control pet dogs chase squirrels, rabbits, pheasants etc.

There was an accident Xmas eve where a child on a pony was chased by 2 dogs sustained a head injury & horse bolted across a main A road.

Labour are desperately trying to win over the working class voters. It's hot nothing to do with animal welfare & everything to do with a sinking political party.

No - it’s got nothing to do with Labour. The majority of people have been calling for a complete ban since trail hunting became fox hunting.

The crap being posted is akin to the placards waved outside abortion clinics. I cant get in a spin about hunting when slaughter is still so barbarically cruel and staffed by morons with no governance in place. Its just because it tends to be posh people that it gets so much hatred. Meanwhile people walk into supermarkets and help themselves with no consequence, its not safe to walk home alone if you are a woman and people are dying every day from being neglected by a poorly run and morally corrupt health service. Hunting just isnt a big deal in the scheme of things unless you are s sixth former or a pot smoking loser who never grew up. Grow up!

Well you’re certainly in a spin about something.
Vilifying fox supporters as immature pot-smoking losers isn’t going to win hearts and minds to your own cause, but then I’m not sure what that is.
Are you saying the business of the clinics is barbarically cruel slaughter perpetrated by unregulated morons, or are you referring to something else?

(‘Shoplifting vs fox hunting’ might seem like a simple moral question, but not if it the correct response, according to you, is predicated on entrenched class prejudice.)

Presumavly everyone on this thread who opposes fox hunting also opppses boxing?

Yes. I think both are ridiculous. But I'm not really seeing the connection.

Ah, the sixth former has arrived.

So you’re against slaughter and the cruelty it brings but you’re not bothered about fox hunting?

You do realise that you can be against 2 things at once, it’s not either/or?

And yes there is an issue that it is rich people doing it because we know that that is why the law has always been so lax.

Dog, cock and horse fighting have been illegal in this country for years - yet dog vs fox has taken years to actually become illegal purely because the men in power are the posh ones that support it.

Thank goodness there are some people in power speaking out about such cruelty.

DrPrunesqualer · 27/12/2025 12:59

If it’s in the contract that you can cancel then do so
Its your money
You don’t have to give it to any company you don’t want to.

Have a look at their record on hare coursing.

Thats a good point. Do these folk also object to the travellers coursing? Do they sabotage those bastards trespassing, abusing their dogs and delighting in the blood? No, because they are scary fuckers and not posh. As I mentioned, hypocrites.

Absolutely.

wombat1a · 27/12/2025 13:03

Given how the Sab act and the trail hunters act, personally I would not buy from any company that was "Sab approved" instead.

Out local trail hunt (clean boot) brings the dogs to the country show and its one of the highlights, 50 odd hounds and 100s of children playing with them.

Boxing I would certainly ban, MMA for sure too. Also I would ban city dwellers from having SUVs and chealsea tractors.

mmmcoffeeandcake · 27/12/2025 13:04

Totally reasonable cancel them!

Glad you highlighted this as they were my first choice for my new kitchen next year! Not now!

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/12/2025 13:06

HerVagestyTheQueef · 27/12/2025 11:25

Banning trail hunting because some abuse it to actually get foxes is a bit like banning shopping because some people shoplift, or banning trains because some people fare-dodge.

Shop lifters and fare dodgers aren’t generally ripped to shreds by hounds if they’re caught.

Those will be the ones under 6yrs old that they haven’t shot yet because they’re too slow
Or the ones too slow to start with and shot before they even reach their first birthday !!!

I'm against hunting too but you are mistaken in thinking it's just, or even mostly, rich people.

Proper rich people have perfectly ordinary, straightforward shooting parties.

PodMom · 27/12/2025 13:10

Stilish · 27/12/2025 12:32

I said ‘no law is never broken.’ Re read.

Apologies, I am dyslexic so do make the odd comprehension error. So with your double negative you’re agreeing that laws are broken. Which seems to go against the general gist of your post saying that the law is very well adhered to. It’s not if people are getting successfully prosecuted especially if those prosecutions are the tip of the iceberg.

Maybe hunt supporters need to blame those 50 people who have been prosecuted . If everyone else genuinely is adhering to the law then they’ve spoilt it for everyone else.

as far as I know the govt are also looking at other areas of animal cruelty as part of this move. Animal testing is another thing to be banned. Puppy farming, boiling lobsters alive, electric shock collars. So it isn’t a campaign against rural people, or “toffs” as some people seem to be saying.
