To think we should ban the term ‘globalise the intifada’

After the terrorist attacks in Manchester and now Bondi, I struggle to see how this term is anything other than a call to violence against Jews. We should be cracking down on it, in the same way we do other hate and violence inciting speech.

Don’t know what that means

it means rise up against Israeli occupation in the context of what’s going on in Gaza - completely legitimate

The ‘intifada’ was a campaign of bus bombings and stabbings of civilians across Israel.

Not all infitadas are violent - for the one you mentioned there was also peaceful
protest responded to by extreme violence from israel

on neither side - I can se both

Clearly something seriously wrong with that poster. I hope they get the help they clearly need.

Has anyone forgotten the genocide in Gaza? Far far worse than shouting some words

intifada does not mean bombing buses - they don’t exist 2000 years ago

who knows what you’d do if it was your people

There is/was no genocide in Gaza. The one constant genocide is the attempted genocide of Jews.

I'm with the spirit of your post, OP, in that yes, it is being used in an anti-Jewish way, but you can't go banning language terms - [and I'm even unsure about 'hate speech' as a crime in general, though as an upstanding citizen, I endeavour never to use it, and to call it out if I hear it]

Can’t ban language terms? Are you for real. Can you not think of any words that are so unacceptable that they’re only referred to by their initial?

Yes, but they're not technically banned. That's the stuff of authoritarian rule.

You're basically saying Jewish people are unsafe because of Gaza and if your 'people ' were 'being exterminated ' you'd be doing similar.

The people killed in Australia had nothing to do with Gaza. Nothing.

Genocide is decided by the ICJ
not mumsnet
or Israel
or any
other country

They will decide after Israel supply them with all their information in January ( if they don’t request yet another extension )
So far the ICJ have declared it is plausible a genocide has been committed.

Dangeos · 16/12/2025 07:08

Yes the first intifada was more peaceful, but the second, far more recent and prominent intifada was extremely violent. It targeted innocent civilians in acts of terrorism.

Shouting to globalise it is not only incredibly intimidating to Jewish people, but it is also a call to arms for sick individuals who are willing to cross that line into harming innocent Jews.

Why is it not possible to protest for Gaza, without using this specific violence inciting term?

I think some people ignore this calling to 'globalise the intifada ' perhaps having an excuse it doesn't mean 'actual violence ' until it does. Then they go silent. Innocent people die.

Its time to crackdown on calling for 'action' enabling terrorists to act.

hufngids · 15/12/2025 22:58

My eyes are quite open, thank you, but I will admit to not going on Palestine marches so haven’t heard it being used.

@hufngids , let’s accept that you haven’t heard this phrase being used. You have chosen to comment on this thread so the use of this phrase is for some reason of interest to you that fact cannot be disputed.
The question posed was should the use of this phrase be outlawed/ made illegal?
What is your opinion?

SheinIsShite · 16/12/2025 12:21

22% of posters who have voted on the poll seem quite OK with a campaign of violence against Jews.

WT actual F.

SoulSearchBeHonest · 16/12/2025 12:22

That's calling for global 'action'. Therefore, not surprised when some individuals then take that 'action' killing people!

Some people appear unable to understand that Jewish people around the world are not responsible for the conflict in Gaza.
